Recently bought a Dyson air purifier (DP04)

Air conditioner I only use it for 2 hours then switch to dryer mode and keep the air purifier switched on.

Does an excellent job at keeping the room cool despite our room being on the 3rd floor.

This is a big change from the Sharp air purifiers we used to use that could never keep it on through the nite as it is noisy and somehow always felt it affects the efficiency of the air conditioners.

Hi. How say the sharp air purifier affect the efficiency of air conditioner. Made it less cool?

xiaomi > all
joke aside,
i do think xiaomi purifier has better value than most of the other brand.
especially with the filter. sharp fp40 replacement already need rm160 for non ori.  while xiaomi only rm100 for upgraded version formaldehyde filter.

Yeap. Using a Xiaomi purifier 2 and a 2s.
The IOT is a bit wonky (sometimes can’t detect).
But otherwise it works very well.

My house has a Phillips Air Purifier and a cheaper Sharp one. Honestly, you can really feel the difference with the Phillips.

I would personally recommend to get the Purifier + Dehumidifier - if got budget la. Get rid of heat and air pollutants. hehe

Which philips model? I see their models usually cover larger area than other brands (even though similar pricing). hmm.gif

Anyone that tried the new Xiaomi Air Purifier 3? (just release last month)

This is an interesting website.

https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/how-to-...y-air-purifier/

You dont need expensie filtration nor junk like xiaomi.

Xiaomi air purifier 2 is famous for junk product.

https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/xiaomi-...ntrol-purifier/

https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/xiaomi-...nsafe-86-hours/

Yeah yeah. People said Purifier 2 and 2s is different.
Bear in mind 2s is just 2 with OLED PM2.5 display (might be inaccurate as well as they are famous for rigged readings)

Depends on how much you use. I was using my sharp during my pet-keeping days, and I changed it every year, since it was kept running almost everyday. It was mainly to suk in the fur.

For the Phillips, I only use it when the weather is bad, so far I have changed the filter once in this couple of years. Lol. I think it's time to check it.

The filters can be bought from Phillips Lazada Mall, below RM200. Or just search in Lazada/Shopee. I usually find even older models there.

If he is biased he could mention particular brand instead.
Or selling his own brand.

The kind of DIY looks ugly but from his test it looks the most cost effective laugh.gif

This is based on my personal experience of using Mi Purifier 2S. I won't be surprised that there are better brands/models out there, but I think for the price and function of the Mi Purifier, it should do a decent-enough work:

- Can feel the difference in terms of air quality after turning on (I use Manual mode for maximum fan speed in the living room, a bit noisy but bearable)
- Some online articles criticised the the purifier's particle sensor is not sensitive enough and doesn't exceed 50 and above. I have seen more than 200 reading with the recent haze
- the purifier's Auto mode is also criticised for not doing enough purification work and leave the air with high API reading, hence I use it on Manual mode most of the time
- the replacement filter is also fairly easy to get online (Shopee Mi MY official store available)

I have used many air purifiers n humidifiers in the past 25 years.
Panasonic, sharp, Samsung, Toshiba n many others.
The problems I face with all these... Not long lasting, and filter replacement got more expensive n hard to come by or discontinued as time goes by.
Electricity bill might go up as the filters get clogged when used, smelly too.
Eventhough with new filters, it sometimes smell still due to static dusts stuck to the motors or fins inside (usually cannot be cleaned at all). If spoilt, need to buy anew.
Usage Shelf life, usually 2 to 3 years.
Humidifiers bought uses ultrasonic. These mists are not gud in bedroom. It can cause molds on certain books or furniture in long run. This is bcos too much humidity in the air, if on for 24/7.
Calcium build up(whitish powder) and crusted, that kills the ultrasonic unit.
This is my experiences. I do know the importance of air cleaning. Just got into the hype of getting these products over these years. Everytime did not look at those products that costs over 3k or more.

And now, I have just got myself a venta airwasher lw45.
Its German tech using fan n water only.
https://www.venta-luftwaescher.de/lw45-luftwaescher
Promo price at baby fair rm2699
No need to buy filters at all.

I have seen reviews on this same model up to abt 10yrs back.... Still the same tech n design n long lasting.
Pro:
Save on buying filters.
Quiet with only 3fan speeds. At top speed at 8watt of power only. On 24/7.
Humidfy the air proper way, not using ultrasonic mists.

Cons : need to top up depending on the water level.
Clear the water every 2weeks or as needed.(dirty).
Thorough cleaning in 6mths.

Price oso almost the same as other electrical purifiers like sharp at tis promo price. Original 3999

Gonna get the bigger version soon, the lw60 model for my living room.

Another thing I have learned. Clean ur aircon at every 9-12months to remove molds. It will help the air quality, and prevent allergy alot. Never forget. Even getting all these stuffs, if the main culprit still spewing bad air. Never use old aircons, as its filtration can be bad, moldy n high electricity bill. Changing aircon every 5-7 years is a good guide.

Just to share my experiences.

Looks like air purifier are mostly quite expensive, and I guess most do not trust brand from unknown Chinese makers. Would anyone be interested with air purifier that cost RM200 and do not cost much with replacement filters?

and I would also test them out to show the effectiveness.

I am not selling any air purifier, I am just an engineer working in designing and making home appliances, and the technology in air purifier is not so complicated. Those air purifier that cost a lot are mostly in advertising and brand name.
