McDermott is hiring massively KL office.
ENGINEERS!!
*
will they hire locals?

it seems to me that they are finding excuses not to hire locals so that they can hire the boat people. someone should check how they managed to get work permits from the immigration dpt for the current boat people in their organisation.

now the HR minister is of the same group of people ............ hmm.gif

Ha ha.. you also realized that ya..
.
If based on their organization, mostly, they only hire local for lower position..
*
its like a plague hitting a few of the oil&gas consultant firms; even that oslo based consultant is swarmed with the boat people. i wonder what happened to the local engineers.

KPOC sues MMHE for RM125mil. But I wonder, why is one Petronas-linked company suing another Petronas-linked company? And in such a case, who's got the stronger argument?

Also seems to be old contract from back in 2011.

The interesting bit: "KPOC, in its Notice of Arbitration, claims that MMHE was and is in breach of the express and/or implied terms of the Contracts in respect of the supply of certain valves."

Can anyone translate that for a layman? Does anyone know anything more about this dispute?
https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...m-against-mmhe/
*
I wonder what kind of valves and how many valves they were talking about that worth RM125mil?

Is this suit about the performance of the valves?

I have been experienced that the production platform were using 'Imitation' valve.. never come across in my mind that vendor able to imitate well known valve like petaling street selling imitate Rolex watch.
.
Just imagine if there are 4 wellheads line and maybe only 1 line was not using that valve, so loss of production perday may be around USD 1million ++.
.
Also, additional cost to purchase and replace the valve. Valve also take time to be available.
.
But I really wonder how this supplier never worry to supply imitation valve.  hmm.gif
*
so MMHE in turn can sue the supplier if it can prove the valves are imitation valves.

But really, disregarding all these money lawsuits...if there is a safety issue due to the non-performance of the valve, who is "responsible" for it? MMHE or the supplier? Doesn't MMHE need to sign-off on the works done or valves provided by the supplier? Very bizarre as Kebabangan is a major project and hard to believe KPOC will file a claim lest they have solid grounds for it.
*
I guess KPOC might have replaced the alleged "non-performance valves" by now, hence the suit against MMHE to get back their money spent on replacement of the valves.

There is a senior project Manager who is a Malaysian from UTM uni there...
Don't generalize....
*
There isnt any local principal engineer in that company. It's a fact.

The first foreign consultants set up their office in Malaysia way back in the mid 80's. It's been more than 30 years that Malaysians learnt how to design offshore platform facilities, fixed and floating, and got very good at it. I dont believe there aren't any local engineers with more than 2 decades design experience that could qualify as principal/lead engineers. The fact is the boat people who occupy the lead positions in that company purposely make it difficult for the locals to join the company in order to protect themselves and their own group.

The best boat people had gone to the west, especially the USA. Those in Malaysia are mostly pretenders and actors.

Boat peoples is like a plaque in Malaysia IT/ICT industry... Hope MPM can do something on boat peoples dominance in Malaysia O&G... teruk sangat dah... parahhhh....

Malaysian Indian much more better compare to those from Mainland...
*
It's the party that gives out WORK PERMITS to the boat people that must be blamed for the deluge of boat people in Malaysia; the IMMIGRATION! And the 2nd Home scheme had been manipulated and abuse by the boat people.

MPM can't do much about it, except to impose high local content for bidders bidding for projects that are sanctioned by them.

Limbayong MISC got?

Is Limbayong in Sabah waters or Brunei waters?

Based on this map, it’s adjacent to Gumusut.

Another CPP floatover is on the way to the market; Sapura Energy’s Jerun CPP will start FEED very soon. EPCIC is expected next year. Upstream projects are slowly rolling in, pray the rate is increasing.

Anyone work with MIE Offshore Solutions before?

Looks like they bagged a lot of consultancy contract.

How is the pay and benefit there?
*
I've never worked at MIE before, but I know the company. Pay is average only, lower than what other major consultants could pay.

But one shouldnt be too choosy with jobs now. Competition at all levels is fierce now.

One caution: its office is at the busiest location beside MRR2, very near to TBS. Imagine the traffic, and SUKE hiway is under construction now.

Why bidding was extended? I understand this has three major portions: 1) FPSO charter/ops 2) Topside fabrication 3) Tanker conversion

Is the mid April due date for all 3? Who's the likely favourites?
*
Usual reason is bidders asked for extension for them to have more time to put in commercially competitive bids. At times it can be very challenging to get price quotations from contractors, suppliers or even the bid JV partners in time before the bid closing date.

Been waiting for many years already. 😆

It’s purely political.

It’s an open secret that Sarawak govt is using Kasawari project as a bargaining chip for more “rights” in oil&gas business.

I’m pretty sure they knew that the 40% of gas produced from Kasawari is for local consumption to Bintulu, but that wouldn’t matter to them.
