Ilam is more expensive than renting outside. But the good thing is that you will mix with people from different races compared if you are renting outside. the internet is unlimited if i am mistaken.

I'm considering to study at NZ but I've not made my mind. I've a few questions:
1. Anyone from Uni of Auckland? I might do a degree with 2 majors or 1 major with 1 minor, so what would the tuition fees be? Will the fees be doubled? I just need a rough estimation.
2. How's the broadband there? Is it fast?
3. Can an undergraduate work part time?
4. How's the public transport there?
Thanks!

Lousy by the standards of a developed country. Expensive too. But better than Malaysia (with the exception of the LRT).

Thanks! 30++ thousand dollars? check website fast in cbd with fibre optic connection. bloody expensive with data counting. id still prefer streamyx any given day. yeah... if you can cope expensive. not a fan of public transport.

Getting Started

|
spent 2 years in auckland studying and living the life.
studies there are in general A LOT more RELAXED than malaysia. heaps of breaks in between, small tutor to students ratio and of course, you dont have to go to lectures. i still remember going to Shadows for some piss with me mates before going to lecture, and turned up at lecture red-faced and smelling really bad!
outside of studies, it is advisable to try to continue your hobby, or pick a new one. join clubs or organizations at uni, or the community. i used to play snare for marching bands at school, and thus when i got there, i joined a pipe band. by 9 months, i was performing everywhere, wearing scottish kilt and having a lot of eyes gazing at me.
staying at a university residence also helps a lot. as all the residents are students, everybody parties, and socializes. and its a lot mroe easier to organize road trips too, since everybody will be keen!
niways, if any forumers here are keen to know more about studying in Auckland, do flick me a pm. we could chat over the MSN, and even over a cup of coffee if youre keen!
