But I'm using a Windows PC. Does anyone know a good freeware to convert video? Currently using PQ DVD trial version and it's quite good. But need to pay USD 29 to convert more than 7 minutes of video. cry.gif

So far, I have found Xilisoft IPod Video, the easiest to use 3rd party converter and it is able to convert virtually any video format. For details and to download a free trial copy click www.xilisoft.com/ipod-video-converter.

i want to ask which converter is the fastest to convert your movie file. I use iSquint and it was faster than quicktime pro. any other suggestion, does not matter free or pay, just want to convert movie double quick time.

I've used iSquint, Quicktime Pro and Visual Hub. Visual Hub is basically iSquint on steroids but both are much faster than Quicktime Pro. If you have lots of Macs on your internal network and are compressing many movies, Visual Hub will let you spread the work using XGrid.

However when you plug your iPod to the TV, Quicktime Pro produces far better quality.

I think most would be the same, and the difference would at most be around few minutes for an hour of video. What would determine your speed is your processor. Or you could get a hardware accelerator like the ADS tech instant video to go although that thing is a lil on the pricey side.

Ya i like Xilisoft as well. I'm just curios, there are so many formats out there. Are the difference between format small? (eg. file size, quality for mp4 vx Divx)

Normally i convert to 480 * 720, it takes around slightly more than 1 hour for a cinema kind of movie.
