My nephew told me during their career fair in his uni the speaker asked who wants to work in gov, many raise hands, who wants to work in private sector , a few only
Why? I see it as a failure that such a huge ratio of students want to work with gov
Spend so much money for them to innovate etc , end up preferring gov admin jobs

Edit : I confused niece and nephew, thanks for pointing that out

Stability : absolutely, that one I understand
Benefit : no need pay KWSP also got lifetime pencen, plus your children also get some money if you die before they turn 18 , I think this is unsustainable. But is really attractive benefit
The last 2 parts is what gets me angry. It seems like in their sector experience is everything, job performance not as important. Since you automatically get promoted after working X years, here is no incentive to work hard or be productive.
You never hear anyone kena fired unless it's something really bad. Come on time punch your card then can go minimum kopi all morning long and no problem won't kena fire

benefit of working with government
- seniority benefit : the longer you work, the greater you earn
- promotion : frankly speaking, you can forget about it if you are non-muslim, it got nothing to do with racist but the culture is. You still can get promoted but the path will be super super difficult
- anything that related with banking like loans, you will be able to obtain it with the lowest interest rate you can ever imagine
- you don't need to be super hardworking, all you need is to blend in nicely into the circle of people and perform well for the office politic even if you work sucks, people will still back you up
- hardly you will get fired , almost impossible
- in chinese, we call it "eat snake", in malay we call it "curi tulang", these activity are one of the best activity working there

working with private?
- seniority? nah, nobody care, if you are capable, you can kick anyone you like
- promotion? the stronger you are, the faster you get
- banking benefit? no shit given, only those high interest loan awaiting you
- you don't have the privilege to eat snake as you will be busy all the time
- you will get fired easily if you do mistake, employer seeking for efficiency, not stupidity

now you know why so many people raising their hand --> government job?

really?

i think nowadays if you do got jobs in gov sector, you will be offered KONTRAK position first.
after a few years, then if you are lucky, then you might get into TETAP & SAH JAWATAN post.

my friend who is a KONTRAK technician in an IPTA didn't get his contract renewed come this September. he has been working for about 8 years now. pity him. sad.gif

contract staff gov are as the same as working in any private sector. easily gets sacked.

government job will always be available, there won't be head count frozen, the motive behind is simple. The worsen the government is, they need more man to vote for them, so who will be their man? it's obvious
statistically, the ratio of government servant servicing the people is too crazy, supposedly with this kind of ratio, our country should be as good as singapore but look what we have today?
quantity don't assured quality, its all about management

we can't blame the gov servant for their laziness because the environment train them this way. If you hardworking, your colleague will hate you, your team will ignore you and eventually abandon you. If you are too capable, you will be the shooting target or even get bully by trashing workload to you without credit given

so do you even dare to showcase your skill? you will end up become like them

Buy house in Putrajaya can get up to 25% discount. Very attractive offer.

For low rank, they can buy PPA1M which is far away cheaper than PR1MA. The location also much more strategic.

The perks of not working outweights the perks of working when one is employed in gomen....all the goodies you secure when you retire n all. And its confirmed too.

Its totally opposite in private, where the more you put in work..the more you might be potentially rewarded , but its not confirmed. Might get nothing extra despite effort given.

No points for guessing correctly which sector nurture lazy humans .

Nowadays very unlikely contract staff will get into permanent. Coz gov departments can no longer do direct intake. All must go thru spa. Means they still need to go interview n compete with the other hundreds n thousands of candidates.

here's why and will make the job u're currently working as is shit compared to government:

- stability. Government can't bankrupt literally.
- benefit (low interest loan etc) & pencen
- career advancement & salary increment based on years of service
- hard to get fired
- u can ular anytime. yes anytime without getting scolded or fired.

and the best of all, u can concentrate doing your business, second job or whatever hobbies that requires a lot of time due to no need to look busy and pleasing your boss when u're in the office.

beat that, private sector (especially chinaman company)

Back during my uni day, we were given job survey form during convo. those who already got job didn't fill the form. then like 2 weeks after convo I got telegram (yes, it was 20 years ago) asking me to go to PPUM (then Hospital Universiti) for interview for science officer post (didn't even apply for it). I got the telegram during the interview hour. Since I was still jobless that time I really need to go to this interview so I call them telling that I just got their telegram. They said 'you can come now, we are waiting for you". So went there after +-1 hour journey with the bus. They're still waiting. They called 5 candidates for interview. I was the second one and the last person that came that day. Since they offered 2 posts, 1 permanent and 1 contract, I got the contract 1. The basic salary at that time was RM1215. No wonder no one wants to apply government job. My friend works in sony for RM1800 (fresh grad). It wasn't until 2002 (if i not mistaken) the government increases salary so they become more attractive and competitive. since then people were interested in applying for government job.
