*

end of MG2: Solid Snake.

QUOTE(300078 @ Jul 30 2007, 11:21 PM)
I played all the tittles on PS and PS2 and did not see Big Boss death.
*

you can buy MGS3 subsistence-it has MG and MG2 on one of the discs nod.gif

QUOTE(300078 @ Jul 30 2007, 11:21 PM)
Is it on the GBA or PSP?
*

the GBA doesnt have any MG/MGS titles.
the GBC has one MGS,but it is considered non canonical(different universe kind of thing)
the PSP's MGS PO is about Big Boss's life journey in discovering his destiny-becoming the greatest soldier of the 20th century,and bringing destruction in the form of Metal Gear

just realised something.

SOP is integral in both MGS4 and MGO.

in MGO,YOU will be the one extracting the nanomachines.
in MGS4,Liquid will be the one interested in it.

if these two games are related,(and i dont see why not) then Liquid's discovery would probably be carried over to MGO,with different factions fighting over the nanomachines.

meh,just guessing.. tongue.gif

errr, no idea where you're going,
*
gametrailers has 2 interviews with Ryan Payton(the dude who does the kojima productions report,if you didnt know tongue.gif )

one is about MGS4.
touching on the game mechanics,story,etc..

the other is on MGO.
similiar to MGS4's interview,talking solely on that game.

Payton reveals several things about the gameplay,and mentions that the SOP is both in MGS4 and MGO.

best you download the interviews and watch them yourself-Gametrailers for the god damn win rclxms.gif

QUOTE(MR.Shiney @ Aug 1 2007, 09:28 PM)
but is FOXDIE a nanomachine?
*
it was injected together when snake received his nanomachines in MGS.

well,since nanomachines mean small machines,and foxdie being a programmable virus,i suppose it IS a nanomachine laugh.gif

QUOTE(MR.Shiney @ Aug 1 2007, 09:28 PM)
SOP hmm, maybe like splinter cell that can trace whats the other
team exactly saying over the headset laugh.gif
*
i've never played SC online before,but IINM,you have to shoot a bug onto the opponent to hear what they are saying(or something like that)
in MGO,you hack your opposing team member's nanomachines,and can see everything he does(his team's movement),can see the claymores they have found,etc.

Brings a whole new meaning to

No place to hide

QUOTE(MR.Shiney @ Aug 1 2007, 09:28 PM)
talking about this, is snake nanomachine which enables him
to communicate is implanted into his ear or what?
*
Naomi injects the nanomachines into snake's right arm,IIRC.(or was that the anti freezing peptide? sweat.gif )
well,the only thing i remember for certain is Campbell saying

it directly stimulates the small bones of your ear...no one but you will be able to hear it

i hope there's a MG to fight in MGO.

Added on August 4, 2007, 1:20 amFound an article in IGN,sums up everything we know about MGS4:
QUOTE
No place to hide. In the midst of a battlefield. The stealth gameplay changes. Such are the terms and promises that Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid 4's helmer, alongside Shuyo Murata, has promised PS3 devotees when the game is released early next year. But what will such new gameplay directions provide to a series that has, since its inception, promised 'Tactical Espionage Action'?

Here, point by point and hard-hitting blow by blow, are all the key facts that we've pulled from footage of the game, the various trailers and from interviews - all compiled into an essential list of facts and a small dose of conjecture.

What We Know:

Moves and abilities:
In addition to some new sneaking animations and better transitions between his moves, Snake has also added a large number of slick new spy moves to his repertoire.

    * Wall-facing sneak-shimmy, which puts you in a better position to pop off a cap.
    * Jump-roll-crawl over gaps, which effectively lets you jump small distances.
    * Side-to-side roll or slower, side-wriggle.
    * Slow-approach wriggle on the ground with an amusing humping motion effect.
    * You can roll forward and fire from on your back. From this position, you can also wriggle forwards or backwards and toss grenades from behind the safety of cover.
    * Snake can swing down and dangle from a flat surface to an edge or overhang.
    * You can hide in trash cans but you'll come away a tad 'ripe' smelling, which can give you away to the enemy.

Copying textures with the OctoCamo:

    * When snake is on a surface that he can copy, a strange ring indicator with a wave-form effect appears around him. It's still unclear what this actually represents. He can then change the colour of his suit to blend in with the surroundings.

Snake now thoroughly pats down enemies for items and can perform a nasty crotch-crush move. Ouch.

Revamped CQC (close quarters combat):

    * Disarm from behind technique:
      Choke-hold indicator gives you the option of killing your victim by hitting triangle.
      Pulling victim onto the ground and getting on top of his back, you can choke him until he passes out.
    * Hold-up, with weapon-steal.
    * Frisking for weapons and 'nut-crusher' move.
    * You can align yourself with different factions on the battlefield for tactical advantages.

Aiming and perspectives:

    * Auto-aim helps line up headshots with the pistol equipped. New aiming perspectives are also introduced, including adjusted over-the-shoulder and first-person views.
    * While aiming, you can switch from left side to right side orientation.
    * While in first-person view, you can tilt around corners using the motion-sensing built into the Sixaxis controller. According to Kojima, the whole game can be played in this view, so if you've been put off by the mainly third-person perspective before, rest assured that MGS4 has you covered.
    * MGS4 also features a full 3D camera, in addition to the simplified, westernised control scheme that is fully customisable - a move that should make the cumbersome MGS3 controls a thing of the past.

Metal Gear Mk. II:

    * Uses include stealth recon, thanks to built-in optical camouflage - effectively, the semi-transparency from earlier games in the series.
    * While not an offensive weapon, the Mk. II allows players to take out guards and enemies with a non-lethal electrical charge, much like Snake's new knife.
    * We're pretty sure that the Mk. II will end up sporting upgrades to its abilities at some point during the story, too. Will they be offensive improvements, or merely tweaks to its reconnaissance abilities? Or none at all? We shall see.

Weapons:

    * Mosin Nagant Sniper Rifle with 5 rounds-cap and 3x Zoom:
      Unsilenced sniper rifle for snipey-good times.
    * RPG-7 with 2x Zoom:
      Your standard rocket propelled grenade launcher.
    * Books / Men's Magazines
      Apparently, in addition to containing naughty pictures of women that distract enemies, it can also cure nausea. Go figure. Now you can actually flick through the pages, just like a real magazine! Good to see where the research and development budget that should've gone into fine-tuning the AI went! Just kidding, guys. Sort of.
    * MK-2 Pistol with 300 rounds-cap:
      'Anesth' bullet selection lets you anesthetise your enemies instead of killing them. Since you can change ammo types, we'd bet that there are a few different varieties of rounds you can pick up, in addition to standard bullets and Anesth.
    * P90 machinegun:
      The coolest feature of the P90, in addition to a high degree of accuracy thanks to the pop-up reticule, is the grenade launcher.
    * Stun Knife with Charge Bar:
      For slashing and slicing, but also featuring a stun attack aimed at the back of the neck or presumably anywhere else on the body. While on the ground, you can now dangle your arm, which indicates to us that you can slash at enemies below you from above too. This is to be confirmed, however.
    * AK-102 Rapid Fire with 300 rounds-cap:
      You fire over the shoulder or in first-person view for fans of more traditional FPSs.

The stun-knife is an essential piece of non-deadly weaponry.

Items:
What's a new Metal Gear game without some cool new toys to play with in the midst of combat? Metal Gear Solid 4 offers a few cool new editions:

    * Solid Eye:
      Snake's digital eye-patch can scan the environment and features a zoom-like scope and a distance and scale indicator. In Solid Eye mode, an indicator on-screen shows you what mode you're in. So far we've seen Scope (zoom) and ENVG (thermal) mode which generates a neon-green effect over humanoids. There's also a battery indicator bar, which hints that the Solid Eye might run out of energy with overuse.
    * Oil drum:
      Gone are the cardboard boxes of the past. This is the 21st century and oil drums are all the rage. They offer better protection from bullets and you can roll around and bowl over enemies. Nice! Mind you, you get nauseous and throw up after too much rolling, which presents problems of its own. However, this item seems to present quirks and AI issues of its own. The thing is damned noisy, and don't try and convince me an enemy wouldn't hear you rolling towards him...;
    * Rations:
      It's food. You eat it. You gain health. Easy.
QUOTE
New menu: 'Chibrowser ver. 5.06' 'Manufactured by Hal Emerrich'

Sure, it's not the most overtly important new feature, but nonetheless, there are some cool points that can be inferred after Kojima's presentation, in which he paused the game and went through the menu screens, manufactured in the game by Otacon. The following options were displayed:

    * CODEC:
      We're pretty sure that the CODEC option is now integrated in-game into the Metal Gear Mk. II - the small robotic drone that accompanies Snake from early in the game. It's still currently unknown how many contact channels are in the game, assuming channels are still used.
    * Weapons:
      A weapon selection and explanation menu.
    * Items:
      An item selection and explanation menu.
    * Camouflage:
      Inside this menu, you can choose from either 'Costume' - body camo, or Face - facial camo.

      We've seen a number of different styles so far - OctoCamo (default) Statue Cam, several Floor and Wall textures, a watermelon texture, injury texture and potentially a young-snake mask. In Kojima's hands-on, check out the 'Fixed Pattern' / Save Camo Pattern options - could indicate you can create or adjust patterns to suit different environmental conditions -shadows, weather, mud, etcetera.

      You can shake the Sixaxis to return the camo setting to your normal sneak suit default colour scheme. We also know that Snake can pick up actual, physical disguises, such as insurgent cloaks and other pieces of clothing.

Snake's OctoCamo in action.

Also on the Pause menu screen, we noted, on the bottom right, a few interesting indicators:

    * Weather: Fine - suggests weather effects and implications. Also listed:
    * Temperature: 30 degrees
    * Humidity 50%
    * Wind Direction: 16.5m / S
    * Compass with arrow indicator, pointing to North

New AI tactics:

In line with Snake's abilities-overhaul, the enemies in the game have been given a serious injection of smarts. These include:

    * Complex search formations.
    * Hand signals.
    * Cooperative actions, such as splitting up into teams.
    * Enemies now independently display emotion, such as fear, on the battlefield.

However, there are still some flaws that need to be adjusted before release. In the Kojima hands-on video, we can see that approaching from side on still catches them unaware and they still aren't reactive enough to noises such as gunfire and the sound of a Snake-filled rolling oil drum.

New Physics:

    * In one video, we can see a van actually rocking on its shocks, indicating that real-world physics have been implemented into the game.
    * We also see a whole building being taken out after a massive explosion. While we doubt that means there will be massively destructible environments, we'd guess there will be many more scripted explosions, which should add a heaped dose of tension and excitement to the atmosphere.

The new Metal Gear monstrosity. Truly a fearsome adversary.

New Enemies and Craft:

    * PMC (Private Military Company) soldiers and Militia
      According to the E3 2006 trailer, the soldiers Snake faces are ID tagged, as are their weapons and uniforms. We know that the PMC soldiers, as well as some militia troops, are enhanced with the third generation of nanotechnology that was present way back in the original Metal Gear Solid, derived from the FOXDIE strain. This improves many aspects of their physical and mental abilities on the battlefield, making them hardened combatants.

      The FOXDIE vaccine, the first generation of it anyhow, has caused Snake to age prematurely due to the breakdown of his genetic material; by the third generation, it would seem they've ironed out the wrinkles. However, the E3 2007 trailer shows the troops, along with Meryl Silverburgh, writhing in pain, with a mysterious white cloud protruding from their mouths - their condition apparently triggered by Liquid Ocelot.

      In terms of gameplay, by aligning yourself and helping out either of these warring factions, you can gain their trust, get items, some thumbs up and even get led into private bases, according to the game's assistant producer, Ryan Payton.
    * Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs):
      Swooping down like robotic condors, these drop bombs and who knows what else. They make a creepy eagle-like cry, too.
    * Heavy-bladed helicopters:
      At this stage, it looks like these helicopters are used for transport of PMCs; we'd guess there are gunship variants too.
    * All-terrain Armoured Cars:
      Heavy-duty and mounted with gun turrets and what looks like grenade launchers, these can be taken out with explosive weapons, such as RPGs and presumably plenty of grenades.
    * New Metal Gear Units:
      These bad boys sport a large robotic top with fleshy, muscular legs - legs that can be taken out with a well-placed slash with Raiden's katana. They also possess impressive jumping abilities and offensive techniques.

      In the E3 2006 trailer, we also get to see from the perspective of the mounted camera on the Metal Gear unit's topside. We can see that it has a motion tracking radar and sensitive surface and environmental scanning abilities, making it a formidable foe.
QUOTE
What we don't know:

The storyline:
Alright, we know this is the final chapter in the saga, which started back with Metal Gear Solid 3 in the timeline, and moved forwards from there. From the trailers, we can confirm that a lot of key characters make appearances in the game, including:

    * Snake (obviously)
    * Meryl Silverburgh
    * Raiden
    * Revolver/Liquid Ocelot
    * Hal 'Otacon' Emerrich
    * Naomi Hunter
    * Roy Campbell
    * Mei Ling
    * EVA
    * Vamp

"War is the pillar that supports the global economy," says Roy Campbell in the E3 2007 trailer. Much as oil was (and currently is). From what we can gather, the year is 2014, and the Middle East is the location. Foreign governments now pay mercenary groups and insurgents to do battle for corporate means. In the game, the countries are referred to as A and B. Country A's PMC soldiers occupy the battlefield, fighting against Country B's militia. Snake can side with either faction, depending on the situation. It also raises a moral question - which side is 'good'?

Will some of the game take place on American soil? It's certainly possible.

According to the E3 2006 trailer, there are five major PMCs, led by a dummy corporation - Outer Heaven. This hints at the overall game structure; Snake will likely face off against 5 squad leaders, before taking out the main boss. Snake's overall mission involves the termination of Liquid Ocelot- the amalgam of Revolver Ocelot and Liquid Snake's severed forearm. It would seem that he is at the front of the major PMC groups in the game - and as such, is a threat to the interests of the US government and the economy of the larger world.

Meryl Silverburgh is heading up a troop of soldiers (FOXHOUND) sent in by the US government to take out Liquid. "Your cause is our cause now," she tells Snake. "I'm just an old killer, hired to do some wet work," he replies. Snake is basically a contingency plan, in case things go awry. Which invariably they do.

According to assistant producer Ryan Payton, Snake will also be travelling all over the world; that should hint at a bunch of characters and scenarios that have yet to be unveiled, since all the trailers released so far have dealt mainly with the Middle East. There has been footage of a military graveyard and a couple of other unidentified locations, so we'd guess that the US mainland is also featured.

Rumble implementation:
Word around the campfire is that Sony has been distributing new rumble-enabled Sixaxis controllers to key development houses around the world - and we're pretty sure that Kojima Productions qualifies. Will Kojima concede and introduce rumble back into the game? Or will its inclusion affect the reliability of the motion control, which is currently used to great effect in the game?

More texture copying effects:
We're guessing that there's more to the texturing abilities of the OctoCamo than meets our eyes. We predict that in the final game, you'll be able to copy facial textures from characters in the game, as well as uniform textures. Masks will probably be essential for some areas in the game, and, as seen in the TGS 2007 trailer, the game will include a youthful Snake mask (or is it? See below), for a dash of fan-service. We know, from the TGS 2007 trailer, that Snake can definitely copy blood, gore and wounds, so faces and uniforms wouldn't be a huge leap.

Will Raiden again be a playable character as well as an unlockable one? We have our suspicions.

The big twist:
This is delving straight into speculation-territory, which is always dangerous; however, we think that the biggest twist has yet to be seen. Like the tanker-scenario at the start of Metal Gear Solid 2, we're wondering if Snake will actually be the lead character for the entire duration of the game. Our reason for speculation includes the rather long emphasis on Raiden in Ninja-mode towards the end of the most recent cinematic trailer released.

The other reason is because it's been confirmed that rumour has it both Raiden and Vamp are playable characters after beating the main campaign on different difficulties. We're guessing that Raiden may well factor into the main campaign as a playable character towards the end of the game, and his storyline might be retraceable via a different route than Snakes upon replaying the game - letting you see a different path through the story.

Finally, Snake is surely going to bite the dust during the game - be it before the end credits or as a post-script. He points out, in the E3 2006 trailer, that his final task is to end his own line, wipe out every trace of his genes, or 'MEME', as he refers to it. It may fall on another character's head to finish the job if he dies before the end of the story. It would be a poignant passing of the torch to get Raiden to take over. Or it might suck. Who can say?

Or maybe Snake won't die. Although it's easy to assume that the youthful snake in the game is just a mask, we wonder if there's more to it than that. Since we see Snake smoking a cigarette, and there are no lips on the outer mask cover, we're wondering if Snake perhaps gets an injection of fresh nanomachines, based around the third generation version that soldiers in the game carry. This could potentially repair or restore Snake to his youthful glory. Maybe. We're not geneticists though. So the jury is still out.

More crotch-grabbing:
Hey - because all the grabbing of statue-genitalia and soldier-nut-crushing make us wonder where Kojima is going with all this stuff.
The end of an era:
After twenty years of sneaking and espionage, this is the last Metal Gear Solid game. It's Kojima's last as producer and Snake's final hour. But is it the end of the series? With Metal Gear Online coming and the series' popularity as high as it ever been, perhaps the biggest mystery is whether Konami and Kojima productions will really let the series storyline end. We'll shed a tear and bid a bittersweet and understanding goodbye if they do.

And this concludes our breakdown of the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailers and hands-on footage. We're sure there are plenty of other points we've neglected that ardent fans have spotted

I always thought MPO's multiplayer control scheme sucked ass. really. thats why even lads with m16 can deliver headshots.
from above, its nearly identical to ps2's control scheme (which rocked, HARD) and that is a HUGE PLUS. i just hope they will iron out the glitches and bugs in the system.
