There is a time bud of paying the penalties if found wrongly done in tax. But, if the period exceed the time bud and there is an error, they cant make you pay .. only within the stipulated time frame ...

Also why need to claim and max out all ... if company already do MTD from the salary, some amount of claims will already allowed you to have a small value of refund .. unless you want more refund in which they will start to audit ...

Now self assessment, people simply claim without receipts....

Instead of auditing everybody like last time, they saved a lot of work with self assessment....just do random and outlier audits....

If you have all documents ready for verification, you have nothing to fear, except for some time to go see them....

always remember, if u want to claim, must have receipt
if u simply put the figure without proof, later the figure will backfire u

Dont feel bad. You are not alone. I have been waiting for a refund since 7th Mac. I have been calling the toll free number a few times already but to no avail. First time complaint they take note of my situation and gave me contact number of person in-charged. I have been contacting the extention no, hp no.. but no one picked up the calls. 2nd time complaint they said that my 2016 claim was being audited and they told me that I have to wait 90 working days before refund can be made. After 95 days, third follow up call, they said the payment was in process. After 3 weeks, nothing. 4th complaint, which is today 30th Aug, they gave me another number to call. I called, nobody picked up the call. I am so frustrated.

LHDN has enough man power to check 90% of the middle class once every 7 years

hence, ALWAYS assume you will be audited

ie: if you dont get audited, you are the lucky 10%.

My company also kena tax audit last month. Reason being they're holding out on our excess tax payment. When we ask when will get the refund. Straight dapat letter kemukakan dokumen for audit.

now it's high time to SCAN and save ALL your receipts on cloud.
SCAN every damn receipts.

this is for backup, just in case your receipts lose the writings overtime or perhaps got lost somewhere.

i declare my income on before end of july 2017, verdict, i need to paid some amount ( tax able) which around rm 200 only, plan to pay before end of this month , who knows they sent me a letter of compound, total need to pay now is rm 240
