QUOTE(cheaka @ Apr 6 2007, 12:27 PM) On their first night... i stayed up really late just to make sure they are okay...and a few crabing here and there but up till 4am...they were okay...althought they didn't play together but they all stay away from each other but i pampered them one by one by feeding them crickets and worm....i think Frodo and Eowyn never eaten cricket before and they really take their time eating it... Then about 6am...my husband woke up and heard one of them barking....hmm....not too sure what was it about as i was tired and couldn't wake up at all until 9am...hahha...but their timing is so different from Gollum..Gollum sleeps very early around 8am where by they both still awake.. On Second night....it was an interesting sight for me....Gollum as usual up early around 11.pm..whereby the other 2 were sleeping...then I fed a bit to Gollum and he went into the other pouch where the other 2 were sleeping....i was worried at first but they didn't make any sound at all and all 3 of them were sleeping togehter.... Anyway..the female hiss alot...any idea...althought i have not seen any fighting yet...and Gollum seems to be okay with the other male...they were smelling each other when i was feeding them worms.... I just can't get enough of them.....need to get more supplies... Sounds like a good progress I think their times almost like Iggy, at 8 still awake... They sleep together Hissing, we'll I learnt that there are 2 types of hissing, one is if a suggie has urinary problem, meaning difficulty to pee, another one is their way of communicating to each other, like calling them to come close or something Hahaha, can't get enuff of them? What you plan to get? KP ----- Some info on hissing... HISSING - This is yet another sound depending on where they are and what they are doing. So I will try to explain the best I can. * It sounds much like a snake that is hissing that is in labor.. very short and deliberate hisses.. This can be a sound of constipation, watch them while they make this sound, there are very distinct differences between this and other hissing sounds. If the tail is straight up in the air and they seem to be hunched over, chances are they are having a hard time going to the bathroom and this problem needs to be corrected. * This sounds very much like the one above but in slightly longer intervals, and has some slight differences in the pitches. this could be a sound of annoyance, basically they don't like something, * This one has very long stretches.. I have heard this when one wants the other near to them.. they are long and drawn out.. You can actually hear the hissing going both on the inhale as well as the normal exhale.. Interpreted, this means "come here RIGHT NOW" KP This post has been edited by krynzpeaches: Apr 6 2007, 12:59 PM |

Kubiz, bonding with gliders takes time and a lot of patience. If you read up a bit, most gliders can be tamed, even the old ones, all it needs is time, patience and your effort

Ohh, I went to PS on Saturday instead of Sunday, cuz went straight from office, so cudn't join the ferret session. Checked out the flexarium for a while, I think I will have to get one lah, the 22 gallon shud be okay for travelling, but kesian plak, I think 38 gallon is the best KP |

QUOTE(cheaka @ Apr 9 2007, 01:07 PM) Yeah..the joining part is a bit crocked when we transport it as my truck trunk space not big enough also to fit the whole thing....but it can be easily adjusted and have it tape properly after that.... If the cutter you use is sharp enough, won't leave sharp edges. Rather than leaving it sticking out like that, can poke people I wanted to cut out the cable ties but my husband said it might have sharp edges...so said leave it as it is.... You serious..they have it at lake garden...eheheh...let's go..... __________________________________________________________ Introducing...Frodo & Eowyn...checking out through the window from the bonding pouch... Yeah, let's go lake garden Can put 2 suggies together in the bonding pouch huhh? They ok? KP |

QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ Apr 10 2007, 01:40 PM) sure sure ... i will try to find cheaper one. nylon mesh is better but not strong enough to hold hanging stuff . Nylon mesh can make it a portable one. But how to sew only lar...KP, what material u wanna use for the frame ? i vote for pvc tubing 15mm. they are quite strong and can easily be dismantel. the corner attachment i have to modified because there's no 3 way corner connector. i have a heater gun. so it can melt some of the plastic. it gonna be Yeah, PVC tubing is good, no wood, cuz they'll absorb pee and the suggies can chew on it. If you can make the 3 way corner than good lar, mmg takde jual tu except for the T one. Hmm, if use the PVC mesh, is there anyway to make it portable? Like can assemble and dissemble, plus easy storage? KP |

CFP, I've done a rough sketch of the PVC frame, need to scan then I'll post it up
Hi jason, welcome Having a suggie and traveling is no biggie, well, by land ofcourse As usual lah, initial cost when getting a new pet, can burn a hole in your pocket, but that's why research is important. If you can get all the info, and find all the stuffs needed for a suggie at a reasonable price, you and your suggie can definitely be happy As for the vitamin & calcium part, I'm not so sure, better let Hun handle that KP |

Okay, here's the sketch...
Hope you can see what I mean. We substitute the 3 way connecter with an elbow and a T connector. One side of the frame will not be aligned with the other. But this way, if you rise the PVC wire mesh a bit, follow the front level, you can put a tray underneath your frame ![]() Nanti I try skecth with the mesh on... A bit difficult, takut look messy and confusing KP Added on April 11, 2007, 11:56 amIggy : "Ooo, a fur shawl... Nice, nice... QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Apr 11 2007, 12:06 PM) Use travelling cages loh. Many websites have said that if you travel short term like a few days only, you can use a hamster cage as a travelling cage for them. Personally, I like the Flexarium better... you can get that at Pet Safari or Pets Wonderland petstores, RM100 can get the smallest one. Easy to assemble whenever you wanna use. Aii, don't lar use hamster cage even when travelling, kesian them... Yeah, Flexarium 22 gallon also can lar if travel short term...Added on April 11, 2007, 12:08 pm Wah, great idea Hun, the DIY cage/frame cannot sell lar, not worth the effort to do it... However, glider owners are welcome to use the idea and DIY themselves. Even better, they can decide on how big they want it to be KP |

CFP, those plastic covered cupboard are around RM50 above each, but the frames are not PVC tubes, they are steel and sooner or later they'll get rusty... As for the IKEA shelf, wood not recommended as they will absorb pee that will make cleaning difficult plus the suggies will chew on the wood which might be harmful to them.
I found a site where she has done her DIY cage using PVC tube frame, almost similar to the frame I sketched. KP Added on April 11, 2007, 6:11 pm ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by krynzpeaches: Apr 11 2007, 06:27 PM |

Oh yeah, her website loading very difficult and I couldn't trackback when I wanted to get the address, tho I've copied some pix in my folder...
I think the J clip can find at the hardware store, mebbe gotta get the pix or cari sendiri lor... Or else the zip ties should be able to hold it as good as the J clip If you wanna make it sturdier, even using PVC tubes, as I've mentioned before, add two more side bars to the frame only.
