owh ... nice ...

hun .. i have a question .. chika like to bite the tempurung house and exoterra leaves. does it means she is a chewer ?

thinking of getting the 30"x30"x70" terrarium .
*
Hmmm... she itchy for something hahhaha.... but Kiah is a chewer but never bite the coconut or the exoterra leaves in my room.

Terrarium is different hehehe, you mean the flexarium rite? You can experiement. You got the pouch from KP rite? Does Chika bite the mesh? If she does not chew the pouch or mesh, then can buy the flexarium lah.

Then I guess ok.... you make sure the zipper of the flexarium, you ikat with wire or something so that it is not easy to open.

Or how about you DIY? Hahaha... I saw the same type of mesh, RM9.90 only at 1U just now.... you just build the frame with wood, then you mesh up loh with the nylon mesh.

wood ? cannot . most wood at hardware shop are treated wood. i can use PVC piping but the nylon dunno where can find. if the one u see is the same mesh, wow ! u just made my day !

but .. 9.90 for how long ? 1 meter or 1 feet ? the normal pvc mesh i found is rm8 per feet . if the mesh is permeter, 1Utama Here I Come !
*
Hahaah... you very cepat PET PAIRING discussions are prohibited ! hehehe..

Ah... true true... PVC pipes then. Yes, the mesh is nylon, almost same quality as the Flexarium, maybe a bit harder so not so easy to chew. You go to the same place I beli the coconut. The DIY homefix. The mesh is really good looking and sell in packet form. I forgot how many meters lah but got 2 packs. Small pack RM9.90 and bigger is RM11 or 16... can't remember but should be cukup for you to build hehehee. The shop got a few types... got the big mesh, medium mesh and small mesh....

Maybe once you finish making it, can post tutorial here so we all can learn hahahah.

yalor .. i hate those guys . come here , looking for their pet mate . hishh vmad.gif

owh . they sell by packs arr ? here got bit problem la . let say the pack is 20"x40". and i wish to make sumthing bigger than that. i need to make a few extra sections. if can get big roll, easier to built. i don't need to built sections. just one big frame.

where exactly is the shop ? what floor ? which side ? i can go there tomoro before the HomeApet Gath to check it out. if the price is right, sunday, i buy some.

btw, since it's made of PVC piping, it can be open it and store it. easier if u travel alot ..  thumbup.gif
*
Erm.... LG? I tak ingat... but it is the same floor with HangTen... the shop is near the Speedy Video... same level with the PW lah.

Today I bought a cat cage.... damn besar.... and if you got space, should get for sugar glider. All you need is some nylon mesh to cover up the cage coz the bar gap is 1inch. I bought it for my cat hahahh... RM220 is nice and for a 4.5ft cage, quite cheap. So if put Sugar glider, lagi best.

Death in gliders can be anything. It can be the wrong food, too young, depression, infections and injuries.

Well... Kiah went inside my hammie's tank to look for pellets to nibble, damn bad habit.... then my hammie pulak see Kiah like see friend liao, share his food with her.... during that pic, my hammie actually took food from Kiah's mouth.... goodness, I got a very weird glider.... she tries to bite my gecko's nose, tried to grab my snake and now she shares food with my hamster.... sweat.gif

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Apr 9 2007, 09:43 AM)
Kubiz, bonding with gliders takes time and a lot of patience. If you read up a bit, most gliders can be tamed, even the old ones, all it needs is time, patience and your effort smile.gif Although it is could be slightly difficult, it is not impossible smile.gif

CFP, wahhh, Chika dah fat2 also laugh.gif Hahaha tongue.gif Good lar.

Crazymouse, did you get my sms? Aihh Kiah, whacha doin with the hammie??? blink.gif Hahaha...

Ohh, I went to PS on Saturday instead of Sunday, cuz went straight from office, so cudn't join the ferret session. Checked out the flexarium for a while, I think I will have to get one lah, the 22 gallon shud be okay for travelling, but kesian plak, I think 38 gallon is the best smile.gif

Added on April 9, 2007, 11:38 amcrazymouse: thanks for the suggie food....Frodo and Eowyn seems to like it very much except Gollum....guess he never tried food like this before as i was told that Gollum was on Apple and Koa Chi diet last time when he was being used for breeding purpose in the pet shop.....will see whether he will try on it again tonight....now he can't get enough of crickets and worms....

___________________________________________________________________

Anyway, I picked up the cage on Sunday and have to wash first at my parent's house before i bring it back to my apartment.....it is 180cm tall.....Gollum, Frodo and Eowyn had trouble getting use with the big cage last night......hehehe.....hissing here and there.....must be calling each other..... doh.gif

Coz I quite often, which is not really often to travel. I always need to carry my 2 feet tank all the way to my home town, but of coz by car la.. if not,  doh.gif  doh.gif headache..

But now ,  straight away get another 3 feet tank to place at my home town.. its damn much convenient  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

Lastly , Nice TO mEet u all~~

Hi and welcome. Sugar gliders actually travel very well in their pouches. If you travel locally without flying then its ok for them. Some gliders like to travel.

QUOTE(coldfusionpower @ Apr 10 2007, 09:29 PM)
if using PVC mesh, its still can be portable but will take more space if use nylon mesh.

i'm still thinking about sewing the nylon to the zipper. i have an idea but dunno it will work or not. the frame still gonna be the same but the tubing will be cut in half so the end of each nylon mesh is put inside the pvc tubing. but this will lead to a new problem.

this will work beautifully but at each corner near the connector ? will have an empty space. use cable tied for the corners ? i will try to make a small scale of the cage this week. stay tune !!  thumbup.gif
Hi jason ..  err i do sometimes travel and sugar are easy to bring anywhere since they are small and some ppl call them Pocket Pet. i always bring my sugar glider everytime i go out or doing chores around the house.
*
Wah.... once you berjaya make a portable mesh cage, then you maybe can market it heheheh... tongue.gif

No la , I'm jst travel from kl - Melaka only.. So do they really need to live in cage?? Coz if they really need that , then i might jst think twice b4 getting them , if not , try not to go back to home town .. Or worst come to worst , bring the cage along (get a not-so-big cage)  sweat.gif  sweat.gif ..

1 thing to know , how much u guys paid for the initial cost? ( including cage , the coconut house, pouch, ... etc) .. I got my BD on Dec last year, it cost me around Rm 400 ... Pocket straight away bocor  cry.gif  cry.gif I jst worried the initial cost, the maintence should be alright.. Oh ya , 1 more thing, regarding the calsium and vitamin stuff, can it share with my BD's 1 ( JXL-Micro calsium , Vit) ? The SG can share the worms and cricket with my BD..  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

Use travelling cages loh. Many websites have said that if you travel short term like a few days only, you can use a hamster cage as a travelling cage for them. Personally, I like the Flexarium better... you can get that at Pet Safari or Pets Wonderland petstores, RM100 can get the smallest one. Easy to assemble whenever you wanna use.

Well... the cost.... hahaha..... I list down then you calculate lah.

Glider (1 pair Rm600, each would be RM300 onwards) - Always get joeys, easier to train and bond
Permanent tall bird cage - RM100
Cage accessories - leave aside around RM60 for it
Food bill monthly only Rm20 roughly.
Branches you can always get it for free but must check if the tree is safe since some trees are poisonous
Pouch, RM20 to Rm30 depending on how many you get

After that, monthly only RM20 only.... not bad also hahaah...

SG can eat mealworms and crickets. As for Vitamin and Calcium, it has to be pure calcium that has no phosphorus and high in vit D3. Vitamin, cannot use too much since it can cause smelly urine.

Most SG here get their vitamin and calcium from my glider food heheh... so they no need to worry about calcium and vitamin supplements.

Okay, here's the sketch...

Hope you can see what I mean. We substitute the 3 way connecter with an elbow and a T connector. One side of the frame will not be aligned with the other. But this way, if you rise the PVC wire mesh a bit, follow the front level, you can put a tray underneath your frame icon_idea.gif

QUOTE(arraille @ Apr 11 2007, 11:57 AM)
juz wondering guys... can suggie be kept in aircond room...?
*
SG can be kept in air cond room but it cannot be the whole day since air cond is also not good for us if no fresh air once awhile. It should never be colder than 24C.... coz if keep single SG, they can get sick and shiver during sleep.

LOL.... not getting new customer mah heheh... just say a good glider mix has all the nutritional needs in it hehehehe...

Yah, yours is ready. I might be abit late coz waiting for hamster9 to come to my place heheheh.... sooooo.... you wait a bit lah LOL.... should be there before 2pm lah coz I will take a taxi from KJ station.

QUOTE(krynzpeaches @ Apr 11 2007, 12:16 PM)
Aii, don't lar use hamster cage even when travelling, kesian them... Yeah, Flexarium 22 gallon also can lar if travel short term...

Hun, the DIY cage/frame cannot sell lar, not worth the effort to do it... However, glider owners are welcome to use the idea and DIY themselves. Even better, they can decide on how big they want it to be smile.gif If you wanna make a bigger one, to make it sturdier, just add more PVC tubing, like across each side. This can easily be added with the T connector smile.gif

Dunno lah, I was reading some SG websites on travelling last time and it mention hamster cages.... maybe for those SG who are really bonded.

If I have time, I don't mind DIY.... just don't have time now hahahah....

QUOTE(arraille @ Apr 12 2007, 10:30 AM)
i got few questions...

a. which is better, keep them single or in pair?

b. if kept single and later wanna get companion;
    i. will the introduction be so difficult?
ii. which intro is better male to female or female to male?
iii. should the intro been done between same age/size or different age/size also can?

c. we can easily indentify the toilet spot of crawling animals like hamster, gerbils, rat and even rabbit (it hops not crawls... biggrin.gif ), so how can we do that on suggie (coz it climbs also), do they pee & poo all around the cage?

d. do they chew like nobody business like hamsters & gerbils?

tq... sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
Keeping as a pair is better if you cannot give full commitment. But the best is getting them 1 by 1 first than getting a pair at once. Get 1 first, when the 1st one already bonded with you(normally a few months to bond) then only get another and bond with the newer one just like you did with the 1st.... then after the new one also bonded, then only intro them together for the best results.

You can easily intro a male to a female.... but females do like older males I think... anyway, always must take precaution when intro 2 gliders of different ages.

No, gliders naturally do where they like. I dunno about cages coz mine roams my room, she does it where she likes. You cannot train a glider to pee and poo at 1 spot coz in nature, they just do it anywhere they like.

They do chew, but not as bad as gerbils and hamsters.

Females do not stink... LOL.... the pee she will normally do it on my table or newspaper on the floor.... but poo she does it everywhere, so every day I must hunt for poo to clean. She is ok. The poo don't stink.... the pee a bit musky but ok lah. Not as bad as hamsters.

QUOTE(Sugre @ Apr 12 2007, 12:23 PM)
Oh yeah them suggies are rascals. I support Hun's explanation in getting them one at a time, but I would suggest keeping them in a pair. They are so sweet together. Sleep together, play together, eat together.

CFP: Crazy ar suggest that I let the SGs roam free around the room when I am not around? They are so naughty! I would not have anything to own when I get to my room. As it is Roscoe wants to taste and eat everything he picks up. Scared he will poison himself one day. Plus I most probably be sick with worry, wondering what they are up to.... so better for them to stay in the cage when I am not there.
*
Yah, the best is a pair... Kiah will be getting a friend soon, not a mate but a friend. She got identity problem LOL....

Well, roaming free is a risky idea but I trained Kiah that way.... my room has no weird stuff. So far the only thing Kiah likes to taste is my dough key chain and my natural lavendar candle hahaah.... but then they are ok to chew and taste.

A cage is the best, mine don't like cage so no choice LOL.
