Hi, I've browsed through the custom's website but couldn't find the link to check import duties and taxes.
Hope someone could help me with this.

My friend is going to mail me a whole lot of jerseys from London.
He would use a mail service there and mail it to my address in Selangor.
He would mail it using a huge box.
The jerseys are ordered by his friends here in Malaysia for personal use.

My question is, is there any import duties or tax that I need to pay?

This is my 1st time receiving something from oversea, please help me. Thank you.

ok mate, i have a bit experienced coz last time i'am jersey collector, for shirt as we know depends on price normally rm500 and above will be taxed, second is the weight,if your friend using the box with lots of jerseys inside i will say you will be taxed, they dont care if its for personal use or selling, and the third one is depends on luck, one of my friend studying at italy, went back to malaysia and after few weeks his 2 box of jerseys arrived without need to pay single penny on tax smile.gif

Aww.. too bad.. What is the rate for the tax imposed on the jerseys?
10%/20%/30% on total amount?
Do we need to bring along the receipt?
What if we don't have any receipt?

Regarding your friend there, I think he's 2 box of jersey aren't that heavy each, so maybe that's the reason he didn't have to pay tax.
He's so lucky, biggrin.gif

my experience is that they usually do not check the items inside. Usually my friends just declare a non taxable amount and it gets cleared.

Woah, your friend is so brave! thumbup.gif

What if we are busted and the custom ask us to unbox? Wouldn't we get into trouble? blink.gif

Non-taxable amount would be Below RM500 is it?

Yes if busted, more trouble coming.

Best thing is, just pay the tax if we have to. Hopefully it gets cleared without tax. tongue.gif

How much would the tax be ontop of the total amount? 10% or 20% etc?
