normally if your phone send by courier service(CS), this CS company will call u & instruct u to get AP.U must go to sirim and pay for AP ( normally this AP around 215)after that u must send that AP to CS company. CS company will use this AP for custom clearance and pay custom tax (normally 10%) if u buy phone 500.tax is 50, and back charge to u when CS company send this item to u. so total cost for your phone 500+215+50. i suggest if phone available in malaysia better buy in malaysia. if this phone declare as gift, it's depend on luck. if u lucky, u don't need to pay custom & AP
Hi owikh84, the charges of RM215 for AP, is it fix? Normally how Sirim calculate the AP charges?

Coz, I just bought a PDA phone from oversea and sending in by courier, it was hold back by custom and was told to get the AP.

I paid RM350 for the AP and processing charges of RM18. I wonder why my AP charges so high as compare to what u mentioned? Or I have been chop kau kau by Sirim cry.gif

I bought some watches from www.tokyoflash.com last year and I rcv the item within 7 days without paying tax and the AP from Sirim. Not sure it is becoz of my luck or what.

Wow, seems like they do not have a standard charges, me worst I paid RM350 for my PDA phone, but without tax. I rather pay the tax then paying additional RM150. Coz if I am not mistaken, tax is only 10% rite?

Damn vmad.gif was chop kau kau by them..... mad.gif

I guess mobile phones and MP3 players also require the same process? I once ordered a MP3 player from HK, the seller shipped via registered mail, post office did not even call me. The item was return back to HK, the seller and luckily the seller refunded me. sweat.gif

What are the requirements actually to get this import permit from sirim? Is it anybody also can apply or you have to have a company license or something like that?

Advice needed please...thanks very much notworthy.gif

I bought PDA phone from HK few months back, and was hold back by custom and was told to apply the AP from Sirim.

Went to Sirim and filled up a form and paid RM350/= for the AP. It is very simple, they will give u a sample form as reference, u just follow the sample to fill up the application form. The following day, I called up Sirim and inform them my file no and over the phone they give me my AP no and with that AP number, I went to custom to clear the item. And settle everything without any problem.

Initially I though they will require the device for testing or what, but surprisingly no one request the device from me during my present at Sirim office and also when I called up for the AP no.

BUT, roughly one month after I cleareed the item and are happily using it, I rcv a letter from Sirim saying that my application still pending due to I did not submit the device for testing... hmm.gif

I wonder why I rcv this letter from Sirim, and if really the procedure that Sirim require the device for testing before approving and issuing the AP, then why in the first place they approved it and issued the AP to me without testing the device blush.gif weird weird weird .... or maybe that is what we call Malaysia Boleh tongue.gif biggrin.gif rclxms.gif

Anyway, just to share my experience...

Hi mate...thanks so much for sharing that... notworthy.gif

So do u still send your device for testing?

So the fee will be RM350 no matter what is the value of your item and the quantity? Or is it RM350 for ONE unit of device?

By the way...wanna ask also if all states will have one sirim or it is only in certain states? Ipoh/Perak got SIRIM or not? blush.gif

Thanks so much notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

No lah, didn't bother to send, coz item already cleared and used for months already...

Anyway, am not sure is the fee is fix at RM350/= or not, coz I did asked the custom officer before I went to Sirim, according to the custom officer I need to pay RM250/=. But the Sirim officer asked to pay RM350/=, then I asked him how come so expensive, not RM250/= ? And he replied "Kalau buat business lagi mahal". dry.gif Then I just keep quiet and pay lor, what to do.

Ok here is the link to Sirim branches for your reference.

Good luck smile.gif
