hi, im kinda new at ordering things from amazon. i wonder if anyone could help answer some of my questions

1. are books custom taxable? thinking of ordering from amazon.ca

2. how does amazon charge the shipping? will it be cheaper to buy 2 books at once?

slightly off topic but, anybody here has had experience ordering things from Amazon.ca before? how come their Standard International Shipping takes 8-12 weeks when the Amazon.com one takes only 18-31 days? :S they ship by boat ar?
