It's not a bad mall by design, location is next to main road similar to Velocity. But why no people go?

It's a furniture hub with full aircon, other alternatives would be Ikea. The rest is those LDP/Sungei Besi area but outside no aircon.

So why people don't go Viva Home? I find it convenient all in one can see many shops without driving/walking too much.

Also there is 1 hotel there but still no people until Giant also moved out.

sorry i go shop furniture not night club.

the vegetarian restaurant below night club is quite good though.

anyway if people don't go Viva Home, go where? Ikea only for look look see see. Other places so far away and furniture shops around town so spread out.

but this is furniture mall, not normal mall, people go there to see furniture, so even access abit difficult people still would go since it's convenient place have many shops in 1 mall.

drive to other places will take more time due to jams and also need to drive to many locations, find parking etc, might as well go Viva Home?

Ikea is good for jalan jalan look look see see what new ideas from Europe.

Ikea is not the best place to buy furniture, but depends what you buying, cabinets/pillows/office chair/small desk Ikea may be good for it's price/design/quality.

But other bigger furniture like Sofa, dining table, Bed i would go elsewhere. The design is there, but they don't feel solid at all for it's price.

Like i said, alternative to Viva home would be Ikea, so where else if i want to window shopping furniture?

Those LDP/Sungei Besi furniture shops are hot during day time. If go Rozel & other places need to drive to many locations because they aren't concentrated together in 1 place.

Viva home easy parking & all aircon. Tired can find shop to eat & drink.

The only excuse people giving is the access from Leisure mall direction.

so it's a good place to check furnitures different from Ikea. so why still not many people?

anyway i don't think you can find exactly the same furniture outside, maybe they look similar, but quality might be different. unless it's from the same brand.

its a furniture mall in nature - how often people go buy new furniture nowadays? especially given the current economic circumstances....and most of the people nowadays buy property for investment/speculation so no much intend to buy furniture unless its for AirBnB purposes...

Further to that, with the opening of IKEA Cheras and premium tenant mix in VivaHome - most of the tenant sell expensive/premium furniture....

Unless VivaHome can come up with meatballs that as tasty as IKEA, I think its abit hard to attract footfall to that mall.

Nonetheless I still go to that mall on weekdays for movie as the cinema is quiet and parking is super cheap.

you might not think many people buy furnitures, but how many new condos are being sold every month? houses would require even more furniture. so you'd be surprised how many people buy furnitures. if not, you won't see so many furniture shops even in small towns.

i bought my furnitures and tiling there.

That's the only place in malaysia that have the brand's outlet.

The quality and service there is way way better then furniture shops in Midvalley/gardens.

Market - the furnitures sold are catering for upper middle till luxurious people. 1 piece furniture cost 1k, 2k above. That market is rather small.
OK i get that there's plenty of rich ppl in malaysia too, but rich ppl's furniture demand isnt that much more than middle class (ie. middle class - 1 sofa/house, rich ppl - 2-3 sofa/house).
And rich ppl aint got time for shopping often for furnitures. The houses that these rich ppl rent out will be using cheapskate furnitures sold elsewhere.

Experience - the mall's shopping experience is poor. There's basically only 3 types of (pricey) furniture u can find there (in each shop) - beds, tables, sofas. Same thing for most shops. The designs arent much different and distinct.
There's rows and rows of mishmash furnitures, often with no showrooms to help u visualize how that furniture will fit in into a space.
The restaurant selections arent exciting.
There's no point in going there if there's no exhibition going on or u not shopping for high end furnitures

Online channel - nowadays furnitures can be bought online. The discount vouchers are pretty attractive. Search, filter and sort function lets u see thousands of products instantly.
Way easier and convenient than going all the way to Viva Home

*Souce - my experience going there last month yawn.gif

exactly the point. its already so failed at this point until the food court (which was premium standard btw when it first opened) is gone.

Vivahome concept was doomed from the start, the location as a regular mall is crap, there are very few flagship retailers to make it worth going and the surrounding neighbourhood is absolutely poor as fuck from Merdeka 1957 till now. I don't know how the MBO cinema survives, but I bet its loss-making.

That is as a regular mall; meanwhile there just isn't enough sales turnover for a furniture specialist mall to survive, you end up with a lot of wasted space for which you are paying overheads... that air cond you mentioned? it ain't cheap. and the furniture shops aren't well designed and look simply thrown together frankly.

i won't say it's all high end.

also 1k is wot furniture? if 1 chair yes high end, if 1 sofa 2k is cheap.

i actually saw a bed on LG that rarely see outside, made from virgin coconut fiber.

there are other furnitures like kitchen & doors & toilets but not that many. but i notice even you go Rozel, they also sell these things, you don't see cabinets & closets.

thing is most things people will hire people custom make instead of buy ready made, that is why they focus on Bed/Sofa/Dining set/table/Chair. i mean wot else you buy?

Accessibility is actually not bad la as it has lots roads that leads to the mall but i think the problem is that those furniture shops there are either own in house brand or show galleries only and they are very pricey! And the way they do business is like price is rather fixed, ngam you take, no ngam then pls leave. I can always get cheaper some where else. not sure if that is due to high rental or not

actually the night club started operating not long ago only, before that, there were a few pubs there but now i think those pubs also gone. maybe management purposely increase rental to force them to leave so that they can turn the whole mall into night clubs?? But even before the night club came, their furniture already quite pricey, I don't get to buy anything from there at all, just window shopping only. and i told my wife, that mall cannot survived for long...

heard new management of this mall is LCLY

charge high rental but didnt do much events to attract crowd.. tenants already complained long time ago but no much of actions taken

food court, giant, guardian, and many more were closing down as well as RHB bank.. the only thing that keeps this mall alive is MBO and of course club at top floor.. lol

btw you guys actually buy furniture online? not even see & touch actual product?

i mean if standard like phone etc ok la, but furniture, unless it's same brand &  model you see in shops, you dare buy?
