Hmmm it's not just about the pass. Trying abit too hard to fill all the time available. If me, I think I'll be KO after the first 2 days.

Hectic itinerary is do-able but it saps the energy out of you, and will end up being less enjoyable due to the rushed timing and short stop for each place.

if without those passes, ppl tend to be more relax, wouldn’t u agree ?

Not necessary.
Most of the time, putting myself in the shoes of tourists - we tend to want to visit as many places as possible. With or without the pass, it won't change much hahahaha just that with the pass, you get the savings as a +point.
*
i don’t mean entirely relax lah...

given 2 options:
A - itinerary with passes to fully utilize
B - itinerary without passes

which option more relax ?

ps : specifically metro pass only

After hearing so much about Japan, I’m about to make my first trip to Japan end of the year! And your comment makes me quite excited!!

I wonder if Japan will charm me as much as Europa does. I really love Europa to the point that the bucket list is to cover all Europa countries before I turn 40 haha..
*
japan and europe have different scenery and cultures...

99% ppl will revisit japan

few thing can't miss in tokyo during winter
1. disneysea
2. winter illumination(specifically roponggi hill)
*
but bear in mind that disneysea during winter will have strong winds sometimes, and that may cause the fireworks show to be cancelled

Or, C - Travel far with the pass biggrin.gif
It's not just always A and B. We should not put/ apply our circumstance or opinion on others. Advice is one thing, but in my opinion, do respect others' travel plans. They may have their own reason to arrange it that way (which we could not understand) or they want it to be done that way. Give whatever advice necessary and let the traveler himself/ herself decide what's best.
*
haha so serious...

i never said anyone’s itinerary is stupid etc...and that shows that i respect their planning as i have done similar thing when i started my travelling hobby

and my advice remains the same...if you are going to revisit then don’t cramp the itinerary in one trip (that’s what i realized after few solo trips then gradually couple trips)

and if they die die wanna cramp everything in one trip then it’s fine since it doesn’t affect me mah...i guess i am trying to say is IF this is your only trip to japan in your lifetime then it makes sense to do everything in one trip

i like to recommend ppl to appreciate and enjoy the trip...not rush here and there (i have done this before)...and again not forcing this advice to anyone here

remember $ can recover back...but experience is hard to get

Guess I said that coz you seems quite 'hard' on your choice of words sometimes laugh.gif

But anyway yes, in general no doubt a trip will only be enjoyable when it's not rushed. Whether to take the advice of not, it's their choice and surely the realization will hit them over there. Every trip is a lesson to learn hahaha especially the first one.

aiks...don't be like that...

I’ll be there one day before Christmas - hopefully still in time to see the lights smile.gif The Roppongi Hill one will end on 25/12 so I might be able to catch it!

Not exactly a fan of Disney - never been to any Disneyland, and don’t think my partner enjoys Disney either, so may give it a miss
Yeah will definitely make some day trips out of Tokyo. Have yet to really plan but will take the three suggestions here as considerations! Many thanks!!

Spent my Xmas in Europe last year and it was too cold (many I’m also not feeling too well) to fully enjoy myself, and it was not even snowing, max -2 sad.gif I hope this year’s experience will be different!

europe has christmas market for the whole dec...

japan doesn’t have christmas market but it offers something else that europe doesn’t have ...haha

You got to understand why you choose to travel on yourself and not join the tour guide.

You want freedom enjoy holiday or holiday like working schedule. (all fix time pack schedule).

I know girl like to pack their itinerary tight. Because of money per time/place worth or not feeling.

Travelling are cheap now and nearer. You can go back to enjoy anytime.

We have this said, the mountain won't run away. There is always a 2nd chance to hike back. (It is for safety reason) biggrin.gif

Actually they do have but not as big as in Europe. In Roppongi hills they have it annually and sell alot of nice and expensive Christmas decorations from Germany.
*
i see...

the christmas markets in each european country has its own charm...
they sell mulled wine...wooden toys...various kinds of food...and of course decorations, and they have temporary stages built for singing and performance as well

but we will leave this europe topic to another thread...hehe

hi guys...is it good to visit japan end of December during Winter?
*
i guess the first question is....what is your tolerance towards cold ?
when the wind blows...it stings your bones, but can be managed by wearing thick winter clothing

if you are looking for sales in terms of shopping....then sales on winter clothing may not be applicable if you are living in malaysia since you won't be wearing it everyday

generally winter is considered non-peak season because angmohs don't really fancy winter, they love summer

Hello anyone can share their experience when visiting Hokkaido in mid January?

My wife insist to go with kids. They are only 3 and 1 yo. I google and it says the weather is -3 and most of the time will be raining.

How to enjoy with this kind of weather? Or you guys have different opinion to share? Thanks!
*
gonna be a lot of snow in jan...fluffy snow

i’ve seen few mothers pushing her kids in stroller ...through the snow

you certainly need very warm clothes to keep your kids warm and don’t let them fall sick

Hi guys, planning a 9-day trip for my in-laws in November 2018. Mother-in-law likes general nature, but brothers and sisters in law like snacking, shopping, and anime. It's their first trip to Japan (my 6th).

So there are a few requests:
1. Akihabara (the little sister is a huge otaku)
2. Autumn leaves (They only know Kyoto is known for this)
3. Kimono rental.
4. Onsen (probably going to Hakone for this)

However, I've grown tired of Kyoto due to it being always so crazily overcrowded. But what would you guys recommend first-timers if we were to skip Kansai?

BTW a side question, is the Tateyama Alpine Route worth going in early November? Cheers!
*
if you wanna skip kansai...go tokyo or hokkaido

Japan are using 110V, Malaysia are 230V.
Make sure you got US socket pin .

If you buy any electronic from Japan, then you must buy step down because Malaysia 230V will instant burn Japan 110V adapter

somehow my ps4 bought in japan works here without step down transformer...

Evening,

Does anyone know when will Tsukiji Fish Market relocate?

Planning to visit Tokyo my first time next year in most probably during August school holiday, 3rd week, and more in the future.
Is that a good time in terms of weather?

Did some search, it's hot and humid like Malaysia during that time, should be okay. Correct me if I'm wrong. Main purpose of the trip is to acclimatize myself to prepare for the 2020 Olympics, also held around late august early September, and FOOD trip.

Thank You.

august is the peak of summer...
