Robot restaurant...yay or nay?

One question with the correct way using sento (public bath), because that's my first time so it may be sounds stupid...
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Was planning itinerary too for visiting Tokyo early Dec, is Hakone worth a day trip travel from Tokyo?
*
Never been to Robot restaurant, but there has been quite some positive reviews about it.

Hahahaha on the sento - yes that's right. You're expected to wash yourself thoroughly before going into the tub. Here's some other tips/ pointers/ info:
http://www.tb-kumano.jp/en/onsen/how-to-ta...-japanese-bath/

Every trip is a good trip to visit Hakone biggrin.gif but whether you can see Mt Fuji it's dependent on luck - whether cloudy or not. As JooSeng said, it's a short 'day' and the sky gets dark fast. So if you want to maximize your trip, suggestion is to leave really early. Take the Romancecar so you can cut down your travelling time and arrive there faster.

Thanks on tips! Glad I asked it is very useful information. Wasn't expecting I could see Mt Fuji from Hakone thought it can done near Lake Kawaguchi area. Romancecar seems to be need booking about 2k yen so have to start plan now rclxms.gif .
*
Much welcome! Yes, you can see Mt Fuji from Hakone.

I saw it at the parking lot (haha, i know) in the Owakudani area. It was the biggest/ clearest for me over there.
Second place I saw it was while I was on the cruise. Look back from the cruise and suggestion is to get to the upper deck (open air) if you're not afraid of the cold laugh.gif it was so much more enjoyable than staying inside.

Yep you need to top up for the Romancecar, but in my opinion it's worthwhile. I learnt my lesson - without topping up it took about 2 hours+ from Shinjuku. Wasted quite some time and I arrived in Hakone around noon. Much wasted as I only had 4.5 hours to enjoy before it gets dark. It was autumn approaching winter and the sky became dark from 4pm onwards. So if possible, arrive Hakone at 7-8am so that you can enjoy more and go back earlier.

However, the Hakone Shrine is so beautiful and got better when it's dark. I almost refused to leave and had to be dragged away (by friends). By the time we visited the tori by the seaside and walked back to the pier/ bus stop, it was pitch black. Our path was illuminated by the dim lights. You can call it eerie or exciting, depending on how you see it laugh.gif

Taken when I arrived, before it got dark. I think this was almost 4pm:

For hakone, which route is better, clockwise or counter clockwise? I will come with kids on Saturday in early december also. I know both ways are good but ultimately, you need to pick one. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons between clockwise route vs counter clockwise route?
*
I'd say hardly anyone had done both ways (clockwise and anti) loll so it won't be easy to answer you. Maybe RC can, but I think he ain't keen on touristy places.

I can't recall what was the direction but I started with Owakudani, the cruise and then Hakone shrine. Took the bus at Hakone machi (nearby the shrine) and rode to the train station.

I'm also a guy who will appreciate good scenery and photography biggrin.gif . I'm still trying to digest the time table schedule here the earliest Romancecar with observation section seems to be start on 8.10am.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Last I check the price is 8000yen for the shows and if purchase online can get some discount. How much previously when you visit? Btw photos taken by you? Very nice laugh.gif

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Haha my airbnb has only free sento available so I have to do this everyday. Also need to plan with itinerary as it only open for specific time.
*
Just take the earliest one available laugh.gif but you have to wake up early and get to the station. Romancecar is very on time, so don't be late...!

i got more pic of hakone

i dn't use DSLR, way too heavy
i use mirrorless, sony A5100 paired with 18-105G
and that pic is totally unedited yet

Nice shot through phone. I've always got an interest in getting a DSLR. I'm pretty sure I'll end up getting one, just a matter of time.

Thank you. Was planning to visit the Tuna auction too, we'll see. At worst, will have to travel abit to Adachi Market.
Thanks, should be able to take the heat use to work in Chinese and Japanese Kitchen. Yea main to get familiar with the Travel system, weather and interaction with Japanese. Will it be too cramp to add in Yokohama/Hakone in addition to Tokyo for a 6day Trip? Will probably be flying with ANA, since I read it's one of the better airlines to Japan.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you stay? Which airline you took? In your opinion is DisneySea worth it?
*
Since you're looking forward to some interaction and doing it the free & easy style, learn few basic Japanese word/ phrases - especially for directions - it'll come in handy.

I always believe that itinerary should be tailor-made to each traveler's liking/ interest. It's not impossible - depending on what are your priorities. You may need to weigh which you prefer and probably let go of some others to make way for priorities. Or, make them your back-up.

Besides, there's always a next time wink.gif

And oh yes, ANA wub.gif FLY WITH ANA!!!

Hmm, not really a theme park kinda of person guess not really on the priority for me. Probably if I have extra time, may go.
IMO DSLR quite heavy, you should try out some newer mirrorless like Panasonic G85.

It is still the very initial stage of planning the trip, in terms of priorities it would mainly be experiencing the Cultural/Nature by having an insight of what Tokyo and its people is like and FOOD. Not really a fan of theme parks and shopping laugh.gif Haven't decided where to stay yet, open to recommendations for AirBnB and Hotel with the budget of RM2k for 6 nights.
*
Hmmmm I'll check out this mirrorless one. Heard of them, but have never really explored.

I'll recommend to stay in Asakusa. It's a friendly area and some shops open till late. Optionally, Ikebukuro is also not bad - there's a 24 hour ramen shop and a drug store that opens till late. Pleasant place to stay too.

I stayed in both Asakusa and Honjoazumabashi (5-10min walk from Asakusa) back in Tokyo when I booked AirBnB. I love Asakusa because it feels "homey" for some reason. Can't exactly explain why but that's the gist of it haha.

You can check out available AirBnB around the area. There are many options.

Any recommendations for transportation and place to stay around Fuji around mid November from Tokyo 🤔

Edit: Or just need 1 day Fuji tour is enough?
*
Fuji - Hakone or Fuji 5 Lakes? Or both?

To be honest, doing a 2D 1N is better if you can spare the time and money for it.

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Nov 6 2017, 09:27 PM)
just go for mirrorless, its much more portable
rest of the money get yourself a good glass

I suggest when you share here, you just share without the "how to walk from point A to point B". Just make it direct for example:

Day 1:
Morning - Visit x and y.
Lunch
Afternoon - Visit z
Evening - Visit s site/ temple
Night (if any, otherwise leave it)

Day 2:
Morning - Visit xyz

At least we can see the flow. We don't need the instructions of which train/ which line/ how many KM or distance. Just a summary.

Both, just worry transportation will be the problem as bullet train seem expensive. Tokyo <-> Fuji
*
You've gotta get a pass and the pass is ard 8,000yen for 3 days.

http://www.odakyu.jp/english/deels/freepass/fujihakone/

It includes one way to Hakone/Fuji 5 Lakes from the station and back. So you're expected to stay inside the place rather than travel back and forth from Shinjuku/ Odawara to these attractions daily.

Why bullet train? You can get there via a normal train/ Romancecar/ bus. It's only 1hour+ ride from Shinjuku.

Tokyo Tower?

If you like Ghibli animation, consider making a trip to the Ghibli Museum (have to buy tickets) in Mitaka and enjoy strolling around Inokashira Park.
Nearby is Kichijoji and there are several things/ places you can explore.

Erm not book the seat? You can always ask politely to other passengers if they willing to switch with you after flight take off.
*
That's the annoying system, they make you pay. However, that's the price one has to pay for cheap flights.

But similarly, I hate it when other people ask me to switch seats. Please, just pay if you want to sit with your family or friends.
My flight to Japan - i had seats with my friends but because this family must be seated together, they took my seat before I arrived. The flight attendant then told me about it and I had to take the guy's seat. Fairness? None. Annoyance? Aplenty. So that's why no more AA ranting.gif You can say I should have been more "understanding" to "give my seat away" but I'll say that's up to individual. Dude, that's MY seat. You should have waited for me to ARRIVE, then ask. Not sit on it and pretend nothing happened and didn't even say thank you or anything.

Yes, if they asked nicely, I will give up my seat yet no doubt I will tell them that next time please just pay a little additional to ensure you're seated together rather than taking someone else's seat.

So end of the day, please, refrain from asking others to change seats with you. Cough up that additional amount or stay in your assigned seat please. Do not make it inconvenient for other passengers. It's a tough situation because if they refuse, it may seem like they're inconsiderate.

Can ask AirAsia for refund?

Then again if I’m travelling alone and the seat change is to my advantage, eg I’m assigned a middle seat but am given the opportunity to swap to an aisle or window seat, I’ll be more than happy to swap! So depending on the situation, a change of seat will be beneficial to both parties.
*
Refund? I don't want to go through the trouble of calling the operator that never picks up, or the CS that never replies or ask for multiple things.
Not worth my time.

But you see, if you for the aisle seat and is happy about it, but a family man asked to swap seat to sit with his child and wife, and his seat is the middle one. How? You're being seated somewhere you dislike and have to endure 7 hours of long flight. if you reject, that seems kinda inconsiderate coz the mum and child is at one side. See what I mean? It's terrible, so anyhow, don't ask. It's budget airline so either pay or suck it up thumbsup.gif

QUOTE(~C.W.S~ @ Nov 10 2017, 10:33 AM)
That's very rude for them to just sit on your seat without even asking. I'm basically same as you if want sit together just pay for it else accept what was given to you. If I paid for my seat then nope that's sorry won't change with you.
*
Yeah, imagine you got on the plane and expect to have a seat, to find a stranger on your seat. And he basically just stared at me loll. Before I could ask, luckily the air stewardess came and explain the situation. However it wasn't pleasant because who would want to encounter this type of situation?

Thanks ~C.W.S~ at least i'm not the only one who thinks the same.

Nay la, why be a B about it laugh.gif i was really annoyed, but seeing that they have kids, I just let it go. If the kids make noise and want their dad, the whole plane will suffer. Did this for the family and the greater good anyway sweat.gif although yes, why must it be me who give up the seat? Anyway off topic here.... smile.gif
*
Ada selection. Just bought my SIA ticket last month.
Still, no worries coz if you check in together, i'm sure you'll be placed together. That's why it's best to check-in earlier when more seats are available biggrin.gif

But I know, for example, that they usually block bulkhead and front row business class seats for their top tier PPS members. Maybe they also block economy aisle / windows for KF silver/gold? *shrug*
Don't know why they need to block 50% of all seats though ...

I agree with you 110%

I've experienced when flying with MAS. I bought the front seat ie with the large legroom. After taking off, the FA came and ask me to change seat -to the 2nd sector seats because one couple want to be together. I said NO because I bought my seat and I want front seat.

Hahaha good for them. But I don't understand why they're separated because if you check in together, the likelihood of sitting together is high especially since it's MAS. AA is a different case.

Check Klook's T&C when you buy. Every attraction/ package is different. Some require you to provide hard copy of the voucher, some only need to see your e-voucher. But if you're not sure, for safety sake just print them although this is less environmentally friendly.

flight from Haneda will land at KLIA on 6 am in the morning, and the flight to Kuantan is on the 9.25 am morning.
*
It's a bit rushed. What's the next flight after 9.25am? I suggest to give a bit more buffer time because you have luggage to check in to your flight back to Kuantan.
Give some time in between in case your flight from Japan experience a delay (never say never!). So to be safe, give it at least 4 hours and above.

Thank you in advance.

ANA RM1,500 is average. RM1,700 is expensive and below RM1,500 is cheap.

It's Japan we're talking about, not Chow Kit. Don't worry too much about going there past 11pm, it's safe. They don't pester you but beware of eateries/ restaurants where staffs pester/ tell you it's good deal for buffet or shabu shabu etc. Those can be abit of a scam if you're not careful.
