Remake = Start from scratch but same thing
Remaster = Enhanced graphics Reboot = different approach of the same thing Things get abit confusing if u put Resident Evil PS4 into consideration. It is a remaster of a remaster of a port of a remake of the original ps1 game. |

i hope they change the control scheme to the modern one, or at least put an option for players to choose the classic or the modern one
the controls feels awkward after you are used to current gen games anyway, still a long way to go, next year only release, if they don't delay it la since it's a remake, probably they'll add in a few more new Colossus This post has been edited by greyshadow: Jun 13 2017, 12:16 PM |

From the trailer graphics looks significantly improved. Probably this is a remake, some website says remaster. I'm not sure.
Is this a remake or remaster? |

Guys, why the confusion?
It's very easy to spot that this is a remake. Why? - Improved geometry detail, this is obvious in the first 3 seconds of the trailer. - Entirely reworked vegetation and field detail, again obvious in the first 3 seconds of the trailer. - The model for Wander has been reworked entirely, he has the same artstyle but look at how many more "bones" he has in his body, providing more fluid movements. - The models for all the Colossi in the trailer has been remodeled from the ground up, you guys have any idea how much work it is just to remodel ONE colossi? - The lighting technique is also different in the game, there is a lot less usage of bloom for example. - The textures has been completely redrawn from scratch so that they are natively of a higher resolution map, not upscaled from the the low-res PS2 maps. Again, obvious within the first 3 seconds of the trailer. - The shader technique used in the trailer is also different to that from the PS2. So there you go, it's an obvious remake. |

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Jun 13 2017, 04:06 PM) Guys, why the confusion? Exactly. This is, without a shred of doubt, a remake. Apparent by the significant upgrade in graphical fidelity. As you stated, it's exemplified by the increase in foliage for a more believable looking environment, massive rework in textures, obvious boost in polygon count due in part to the newer hardware, and just greater general polish to the presentation. Let's not take into account the inevitable changes and tweaks to the gameplay, which I honestly believe will be revealed as the game draws near. Ultimately, this is a welcome fresh new coat of paint for my favourite game ever made, and I think everyone should be excited for this. |

Yoshida again clarified that Shadow of the Colossus is a remake but they are not labeling it as one because they want to show it as a PS4 game. The developers at Bluepoint Games were picked for this task because they were the one who remastered the original Shadow of the Colossus for the PS4 so they have experience with the game.

Those of you with a TV that can do HDR properly will be in a for a serious treat. The 4k30 mode is one thing, but HDR seriously makes this game look jaw dropping. It definitely rivals Horizon Zero Dawn, which is pretty insane considering how drab the palette of this game is as designed.
I finished the game at 1080p60 with HDR, my eyes couldn't have been better. There are a few nibbly things that I feel should have been better though - the audio samples for some environment effects are kind of low quality for example. I don't really like Wonder's re-topolized face either, I don't know... just felt the original looked more in line. These are very minor things, because that aside this is no doubt the best remake of all time. Can only imagine Bluepoint picking some other PlayStation classics as their next project. If you know every boss, did speedruns before, know the entire map - this game can be beaten in an hour or less. If you are a newcomer, this game is at least a 6-9 hours playthrough depending on how quick you solve the "puzzles".
RM139 is a steal if you ask me. |

I was just played through this game at last night. Just for 1~2 hours, what is the purpose of this game? I'm new to this game and never play this game before because I don't have PS2 or PS3.
This game has not much story but just go to hunt down that giants? Actually last night when I start to play this game, I have really no idea where to go. Until I watch for gameplay walkthrough in Youtube, then I was started to understand how to use the sword to reflect the sunlight direction. Then after when I was found the first giant, I have no idea how to hit it down. Since the game has lack of tutorial and storyline. Same thing I have to go back to check in Youtube for walkthrough tutorial to learn for how to climb it up and kill that giant. |

Hehe. This game has not much story but just go to hunt down that giants? Actually last night when I start to play this game, I have really no idea where to go. Same thing I have to go back to check in Youtube for walkthrough tutorial to learn for how to climb it up and kill that giant. The purpose is mainly as a puzzle game. How to reach the Colossus and how to climb and find the weak points. The story builds at the end only. |
