depends on which model, really
i tried edifier M1310 (their lowest end model i guess) but i think i prefer sonic gear EVO over that 1. but edifier e3100 and S2.1M got my vote, those speakers are reli nice for music listening. but those who prefer boomy bass might choose SG Blue Thunder 3 (for gaming or movie, who knows?). nowadays i no longer play games and mostly use my PC for music listening, i might migrate to edifier soon, and use my EVO7 to watch movie

see ur luck, but i do agree that SG's QC isn't that good. my EVO7 was spoilt within 7 days of purchase, then went for RMA and get exchanged with another set on the spot. been using the same set ever since, almost a year and half now. but the equalizer LED started to dim, guess it happens to all other speakers. for me, i would not be buying SG speakers anymore for my next upgrade, most probably Edifier as i use the speakers for music listening more instead of watching movies and playing games

as usual, not so good for music, but should be ok for movie and game

in KL EVO3 is rm95, EVO7 is rm135
but guess u have no choice there in kuching

if u have low budget, EVO 3 is good enough for its price (dun expect good sound quality especially in music listening part-la , but gaming and movie still ok). but if u can spend more than rm150, there are many other better choices e.g. edifier e3100, m3400, altec lansing atp3

i am pairing my EVO7 with SB Live 5.1

can't say that it's an extra investment coz i edy have the card b4 buying the speaker
i have onboard audio too (old 16-bit type), and there's not much difference, or no difference at all
but last time a seller in ALL IT said that nowadays most of the onboard audio would be better than SB Live 5.1 coz onboard audio has HD audio and 24-bit, whatsoever-la, while SB Live only 16-bit
