QUOTE(Alucard @ Oct 9 2017, 08:28 PM)
Hi guys, would like to buy some OMG since it's low, but don't have any spare BTC to buy it. Would it make sense to buy BTC now just to get on OMG? As BTC price now is quite high I'm not sure if it's worth it to get on OMG. What's your thoughts?
*
Current BTC price doesn't change the amount of OMG you want to buy.

If you want to buy RM 1,000 of OMG, it doesn't matter whether BTC is 10,000 per coin or 20,000 per coin. You just buy RM 1,000 worth of BTC and use that bitcoin to buy OMG. Of course, you will end up slightly less due to transaction/transfer fees.

Actually, from observation, the best time to buy altcoins is when BTC shoots up. Most altcoins bleeds more when that happens, making it cheaper to buy altcoins. Cheaper because the percentage of altcoin drop is usually more than the percentage of BTC rise. wink.gif

Received email from Xbit. Reminder to 2FA everything if available.

QUOTE
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Dear Customer,

Hope you're profiting trading bitcoins with Xbit Asia .

We would like to request all our customers who are trading with us to enable your 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) . This is the best way to protect your bitcoins and to prevent unauthorised access into your trading account and prevent unauthorised access to transfer out your bitcoins.  We strongly recommend you to enable Google Authenticator ( GA ) based 2FA and not E-Mail based 2FA.

You will need to download GA from the GooglePlay store or Apple store.  Once you have done that, please login into your Xbit Asia Trading account, go to your Profile Tab and Add Google Authenticator. A QR code will appear and use the GA app on your phone to scan the code and also write down the GA code and keep it in a safe place. (You will need this code if you lose your phone and you want to re-install your GA again to a new phone). Then please check all the 3 boxes beside "Save Profile", "Send Coin" and "Login"  That's it. Now you will have your account protected with GA.

Using 2FA on your email should only be done if your email password is really secure and cannot be hacked. Email passwords should be;

Around 10-12 characters long, having a CAPITAL and small alphabert, a number and a symbol in them to be really secure.
You should change your passwords every 3 to 6 months

We strongly recommend that you enable the GA for your 2FA which will be impossible for anyone to hack into your trading account without your mobile phone.

Hope you could get this security measures in place as soon as you can . It is important as it is your responsibility to keep your bitcoins safe.

Regards
XBit Asia Team

Come on guys. You all know bitcoin and cryptos are all a scam right? I mean, one bitcoin is now MYR 22,000+. I repeat :

ONE BITCOIN IS WORTH MYR 22,000+!!!!! rclxub.gif

That's really impossible and really a big bubble which is going to burst. Don't say I didn't warn you...... so say bitcoin critics.... biggrin.gif

Might still happen although it shouldn't be too bad. Repost about BTC Gold possible scam :

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/com...and_a_scam_you/
https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/com...ek_ago_and_the/
https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@umbactor/bitco...fraud-must-read

Due to free bitcoin cash on previous hardfork, I suspect many are buying ever more expensive bitcoin just to get free BTC gold. No word on whether BTG was already pre-mined and whether the snapshot for distribution already taken. Would be funny if it turns out to be a scam and people are buying up bitcoin just to get free money.

Oh well, 2 more weeks and we will know the answer....... dry.gif

As for me, I am thankful my cold storage 0.5 BTC is gaining value everyday..... biggrin.gif

actually they have reply on the scam comment here https://twitter.com/btcgpu/status/917836986454552581. but even it is legit, it is hard to predict what will happened after BTG. smile.gif

QUOTE(Gss2k @ Oct 13 2017, 07:10 AM)
By that logic bitcoin is also a scam since satoshi premine his coins too.  doh.gif

Remind me of one of the youtuber that predicted Bitcoin cash to be $2. There were people selling their Bitcoin cash at 0.003 btc in the first hour. Morons.  doh.gif

Anyway Bitcoin Cash has set a precedent, many more devs will fork off bitcoin and add things like proof of stake, private transactions etc.  laugh.gif
*
Nice, a reply from them. Doesn't sound too convincing but the world doesn't care. They just want their free BTC gold.

Dash was also thought to be a scam too. I entered Dash at USD 50 and was thinking oh no, I bought a scam coin! Unbelievable to see where it is at now.

QUOTE(AllnGap @ Oct 13 2017, 07:55 AM)
they can fork all they like, but who's gonna buy n keep ?
*
That's the problem. It looks like anybody can fork any coin anytime they want. The herd will just follow to supposedly get free money while pushing up BTC value in the process.

Hmmmm, come to think of it, we can easily achieve 1 million/BtC..... just fork BTC every month and we'll get there in no time!!!! biggrin.gif

I'm no sifu la. Just a lucky guy who entered cryptos early this year when almost all coins were having bull legs. Practically buy anything coin will see an increase in price. Add in the multiplier effect of bitcoin, the gains were unbelievable. Researching on coins were done but even those deemed lousy coins also shot up.

That was the past. From June onwards, it was a different market altogether. More of a traders market, up down up down going nowhere. Have to tread carefully and more of the ICO era. I'm hoping for the market to resume back the Jan-June trend after this bitcoin forking fiasco is over.

My funds are distributed thinly among the coins with ETH as my main HODLing coin. I'm just lucky some of my coins increased exponentially. Buy 0.1-0.2 BTC can become 1-2 BTC. smile.gif

Thanks for sharing your thought. I just recently join cloud mining Ethereum in early sept, and also built myself a rig to mine ETH. Too bad, maybe I enter at the wrong time, the difficulty seems to to be so much higher as the hard folks for Ethereum so hopefully with 18 months can get back my initial investment.
One of the forumer intro me to Regacoin in sept but I was travelling and not able to load any bitcoin in my wallet since everything was so new to me. Miss that opportunity as well but Last week I manage to join 2 ICO ( Western coin and Electroneum).  Finger cross, hope this 2 ICO do well in the market.
*
Solo mining will be difficult but it looks like ETH is still the most profitable now : https://whattomine.com/

Yeah, now not a good time to enter but I guess nobody knows when the correct time is. My gut feeling tells me BTC will drop a bit once everybody gets their free coin and altcoins will recover by then. Of course, my gut feeling seems to be wrong most of the time. biggrin.gif

Oops, it's 5 new coins rather than 3 : Ubiq, expanse, pivx, vertcoin and viacoin rclxms.gif

The only problem is that you have to install those apps into ledger. Hope these wallet apps are small so that I can fit in more.

Ahhhh, reminds me of my one-minute one-arrow mspaint superb-TA chart that I did in February : https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3051328/+2880

I went to dig up the post, that time BTC was so damn expensive at RM 5200 per coin and my superb TA showed that it will go up to RM6500-7000. Not only did I missed the bulls eye, I totally missed the whole target...... ranting.gif

I feel so nostalgic looking back...... cry.gif

Yeah, I'm hoping for BTC to tank after BTC gold fork and altcoins to rise. If that ever happens, going to convert some altcoin profits to BTC and cold storage it forever! smile.gif

Seems there is much confusion with btc gold.
Totally unprepared fork. Coin base is saying the fork already happen..
I think the better bet is the segwit 2 fork
*
Yeah, we will only know on 25th October.

Segwit2x will also probably be a bloodbath...... Can't wait for all these to settle down so that cryptos can resume their march upwards.

Hmmm... I haven't open my NEON wallet since last week. Tonight will check see any problems.

similar with litecoin, but with asic resistant. Here is a chart that points out the difference but not sure true or not. DYOR is always a better advice, anything can happen here. its price just drop, hard to see whether it is a dump or dip tongue.gif

Nice piece of info. The one that strikes me is the halving for vertcoin which is on 12 December. Historically, coins that are going to half will get pumped up. Hope to see this for vertcoin!

Oh, do you hold Vertcoin?
Damn, you would have made a killing here......it spiked x10 within the last 2 months...!
Once again, your shotgun approach of keeping many altcoins has paid off handsomely!

Personally, just having a very cursory look at this coin, it seems that it is like an "optimised" version of LTC, and it looks rather good on paper, but I'm just wondering about real-world adoption......how many merchants will be accepting Vertcoin instead of BTC and LTC.
*
Yeah, I'm holding a bit but bought it quite late in June when it was at the peak. 28000 sats..... cry.gif

No idea about vertcoin actually. Bought it due to some recommendations on the web.... biggrin.gif

Hey mate......I was going through the past threads just for fun (ah, the nostalgia...!) and by chance came upon you posting about your very first bitcoin purchase! Hahaha!  rclxms.gif
Damn, it was only 8 months ago that you started on this incredible journey, but with all the crazy spikes and dips, but it feels like a lifetime ago, eh?  biggrin.gif

Bet you now wish you sold off everything you owned to buy those bitcoins and altcoins at that time.  devil.gif
*
Yeah, those were the days. And when BTC kept on going up, I was so scare. Look BTC at USD 1,300! Sell sell sell!!!! biggrin.gif

Nope, no regrets as I'm very paranoid with my investments. As long as got profits, it is good enough for me.

My only hope is that cryptos in general will continue it's upward trend after segwit2x unless somebody decided to fork BTC again. Oh wait, is there a BTC silver fork coming up? rclxub.gif
