i was seriously considering ledger. although the hardware is secure, i did not like how they leak their customer details. so personally i avoid dealing with this company that already failed to protect their customer info

I looked at Trezor i like it. You can also do quirky (not rely relevant stuff) like add a doge picture to your screen 


Then i read that for smartphone you got exodus. And it supports for use with a Trezor. I like the convenience of this able to check on your crypto from your smartphone but still having the security of a hardware wallet close at hand

if you buy these hardware wallets buy from the official online store. If you go to their website, they also have the local OFFICIAL resellers, so you can use that (don't buy some shopee/lazada from random unknown sellers. you never know whether they tampered with it or something). I don't know whether if you buy overseas whether it will get held at customs (it's a bit of a hassle to deal with customs but is doable online, i've done it before), so to save the hassle you can purchase from official resellers locally as listed on the official website 
anyway to my understanding, if your crypto is stored on the hardware wallet, even if it gets destroyed or stolen, you can still recover your crypto by using your seed phrases.

Using seed phrases, i believe you use it on a new trezor (or in your case, ledger) then it will recover your crypto, and lock out the old device? (correct me if am wrong here  )

oo so basically you can recover using the seed phrase on the software wallet directly e.g. exodus on smartphone. i did not know this  i just assumed that it had to be on the same hardware that it was created on originally.

so i guess, once you recover to the new software wallet, it will invalidated the old one?

did you buy from the official ledger seller or reseller? (DO NOT BUY FROM SHOPEE and unofficial sources, in cauz it's a hacked device).

someone on lowyat said that if u order from the official site it will be sent to you directly, so no being held by customs according to them.

If it get hold by customs you can deal with them online, although a bit of a hassle to do.

when you bought it you just fill the shipping details they ask for. that's it.

important point is having bnb for gas.

doesn't hurt to have some eth topped up as well for any gas fees that uses that as well 
based on this the binance smart chain wallet sems to be bad. trusted wallet seems to be better    i think this will work better as a go between binance and the trezor?
