Is Asus still more user friendly?

I'm at the age where I don't mind spending a bit extra for lesser hassle. If 20 years back maybe I still have the energy and time to tamper. Look at my profile not senior member, soon senior citizen hahhahahahhaaa.

Lol .. soon i'm also senior citizen XD

Last time did dig around wanna go Deco or Asus but end up go for Deco cause it just simple to setup.
Asus is toward more advance and gaming which i don't really bother much.

Old dy .. sweat.gif

hi sifu...
i have a question...
my unifi and modem are in a bedroom upstairs...recently internet speed very slow and unifi technician went to check saying that my taman is getting more users thats why internet speed affected compare with last time...
the technician suggested to use deco mesh system, is it help?since my problem is the slow internet speed...
and what are the differences between single pack, 2-pack and 3-pack model? for deco mesh type

thank you...
*
Technician says more users meaning ? Many ppl using Wi-Fi (2.4/5Ghz) hence more congestion affect speed?

Or is it more users sharing the ports ? sweat.gif

Do share your current router /modem model and speed package

1) Budget
2) House type - 2-storey or more ?
3) Does your house have those ethernet connecting point on each room?
4) What's your current speed test after reboot your modem and router :
i) test beside your router
ii) test on another room let say the room just below your router placement

Guys, need so advise....

I am currently using TPLINK AX55... Prior to the Time Fibre Free Upgrade from 500mbps to 600mbps.... I can constantly get 500++ when doing speed test on lan connection

However after the so call upgrade... When i do speed test can only get 400++...

Reported to Time... Technician come over and do some test.... On modem can get 600... but on the tplink ax55 just getting 400... Use back the time provided old huawei wa8021 also get 600 too... Technician said problem with my own supplied router and ask me to resolve myself....

Any idea how to resolve speed issue?
*
Try check your TPLink App - Tether to see any limitation set under QoS ?

Maybe accidentally limit max 400 download bandwidth

Samsung finally open Wi-Fi 6E for my S23 FE but my phone always love to connect back to Wi-Fi 6 of my other nodes (X20 which further away) even i sit beside XE75 sweat.gif

Sometime off phone wifi and turn it back on beside XE75 will still have 50% chance connect to X20 laugh.gif

Via software update? Still waiting on my Z Fold 3 to have the 6E turned on as well.. sweat.gif
*
Fold 3 does support Wi-Fi 6E?

My Flip 3 SD888 doesn't though

Ya, i think last few updates enabled the Wi-Fi 6E in my S23 FE which i'm not aware of until i saw the wi-fi sign changed to 6E.
Then checked the wifi analyzer and already connected since a week ago before i realised tongue.gif

TP Link has just released newest firmware for Deco XE75 (V1) users.

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/669544

Adds more new features to match with current Deco X50

For Deco X50 (V1) users, can proceed to flash X55 (V1) firmware or beta X50 (V1) firmware if you wish to do so.

I am running X55 firmware on my X50 currently, so far so good all steady and stable.

You can update manually on the webUI if you want

QUOTE(Omochao @ May 31 2024, 12:06 AM)
change website region to US, that's what I always do whenever I have free time just to cross check between their website and MY website to see if there's any new releases .

apparently, it was said that US website will always get new releases every Friday (assuming here local time Saturday ) for routers/decos .

but nowadays i just refer to their forum.
*
Manually downloaded from MY site and update from Web.

But those functions not appearing, probably due to i have old x20 connected still sweat.gif
kenak disabled.

Still yet to replace those x20

They silently shelf off Deco X20 from US website and now listed as EOL. once EOL, the updates are slower or either non existent anymore.

I sold off my X20 quickly.

TP link is smart, if you want full features, better to get all same model and version, even if same model but different hardware version, you risk of losing the features if mix and match.

Now I'm only using 2pcs and wired a free TM router as AP. works wonder.
*
Lol .. 3 years lifespan (x20 v1) eh ?

Now still monitoring BE65 or XE75 and make it 2 pcs also.

Under 6Ghz now only has 2 which are "Security" & "Hide Network"

Using XE75 v1 with iPhone and Samsung phone both app showing same.

Yes correct. Sad that V1 also downgraded. My experience is my network is now less stable after this update.  doh.gif

Mine so far still ok.

But still hate the client listing like lagging update.

My TV already connected using wired but in the client list doesn't show up :\

Hi guys, been wondering that these days new deco all comes with HomeShield subscription instead of previously old one with Trend Micro.

However, the Deco now also can use VPN which i think most VPN now also comes with Antivirus function? (Please educate me cause i rarely use VPN)

The deco right now offer the annual price of RM174.99 for Security+ and RM359.99 for total security package (I havent used my trial 30 days though)

Currently my parents house using X20 which comes with HomeCare (Trend Micro) and everyday i see their phone has those blocked Scam, Spam, Phishing bla bla till i headache =.=

Go for VPN or HomeShield? Or just stick to HomeCare since it's free

The VPN is a feature built in into the deco firmware itself. The subscription is mainly for its homeshield functions and security functions like antivirus and filtering.

VPN itself can be manually set if you have NordVPN, Surfshark and another few.
*
Yea, i know the VPN is built in but does login/register the VPN account inside the router provide the Antivirus kah ?

Or i still need to use the VPN on each devices later in order to have the "antivirus" feature?

Else just subscribe the HomeShield to protect the home network (well, going outside of house won't protected)

The VPN can be set for individual devices or the entire network through Deco app.

Meanwhile antivirus is for the entire network.

I dont think logging into the VPN will provide antivirus, as I didnt notice anything about it in the settings.
*
Ok, maybe i will try give HomeShield a 30 days trial first

I see, but its not all the time, so in this case, i guess upgrading the AP like AX73 to AX80 or XE75 / BE65 will be a better bet? Thanks in advance.

If can wired backhaul, then everything will be perfect biggrin.gif

Deco Wifi7 BE series is getting manual channel selection

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/714830

Hopefully this setting will be made available for all their deco series.

TP link is still actively releasing long requested functions for their decos.

Thinking of upgrade to BE65 but scare the online lottery if buying right now (from Unifi add-on @ RM65/month) cause v1 & v2 variants sweat.gif

currently v2 has more update and features than v1

Well, time for them to revise their products line-up and version :\
Kinda sick on the lottery purchase on v1, v1.6, v2.0 ya-da ya-da
It's like Blind-box purchase feel.

And the firmware update is not consistence also which also brings out the vulnerabilities issues..

Have been using mesh router = main XE75 (2024) + 2 nod unit X20 (2020)

Recently dunno why can feel that X20 has some issue like :
Wired : no issue, has internet
WiFi : connect but random no internet suddenly (browser just stuck loading, not moving; however not mentioning no internet)

I have to llike disconnect wifi from my device and re-enable it then it will connect (it might connect to my main and working fine)

Sometime have to reboot X20 then only fine

* FYI, all mesh are wired connection

Is it time to change router... ?
