but i think still won cause algae boom, if everything are balance

Too much light will cause algae bloom, too less lighting will cause algae bloom as well if balance are wrong like fertilizer, filtration, etc.

any improvement i can do??... foreground i plan to plant hc.... only the background and the DW area i dont know how to make it pleasing...

i did dose liquid fert, but once every two weeks, around 4 or 5ml only.

btw.. how much does a 3ft casing of T5HO & T5 could cost ya? usually does they included the white light together?

i do got consider bout PLL, but due to it could heat up much more than FL tube, i was concern there will be a raise in my water temperature, currently i only have 2 dc fans running..my tank temperature normally in range of 26'c - 29'c

you use how many fans on your tank, or did u got use chiller? 

actually what's the different between PLL & PL ? which one give better light performance to planted tank ?

1 - looks like you need to buy and if u wanna buy it, buy a smaller one. then u can play around with the arrangement of ur hardscape. try avoid using bogwood if your tank is small.

2 - your tank i assume not matured yet. yes you can uproot the stem plant first. they wont die easily when uprooted and re-plant back. it's still ok if u dun wan to make the backside higher. it;s not a must anyway. it just more for creating the depth. but u can achieve this with plant arrangement also.

3 - background plant normally a plant that grows high. usually is a stem plant. you can get vivipara or acicularis (for not so high tank) too. mid ground plant are those plant that is higher than ur foreground but shorter than background plant. got alot of plant range for this purpose like blyxa japonica, HG, mini java fern (but this one need to attach to something), anubias (also need to attach to something), etc etc.... have a look around on the net and read about their maximum growth. you;ll get the idea.

btw, im a newbie too. with my limited knowledge,my opinion might be against the pro's .

i notice my DW dun look very nice also... datz why a headache to make my hardscape looks nice...
small stones ahh??... can kutip from roadside??.. coz LFS usually has large ones... and they sell by rm4/kg... expensive sial....
as for all the plants u mentioned, i did some research on internet adi... but those plants i want doesnt appear in LFS... and plants appear in LFS didnt mentioned in da internet.... 
if push the soil... the 2 layer substrate will get mixed up lor... not nice la... coz bottom gravel is very colorful...

cheapest i found also rm120 in penang... second hand fire extinguisher tank... black color medium size.... dat one also dunno include full tank of co2...no include regulator...

another offer i found in penang... rm170... refurbish co2 tank... with new valve and filled up co2... without regulator..

both also didnt take... no money...

do we need to add the fertilizer ball (like JBL) after we had the liquid form of ferterlizer...
this liquid fertilizer need to add daily or once a week?
liquid form of carbon got people try before? for low tech planted tank is it advisable to use this  compare to CO2?

once i bought lalang type plants from CTY... it turns out to be non aquatic plant... the roots damn thick.... the leaves all rigid... turns yellowish after a month....
are those nana petite??..

i'm tempted to buy some cheap ghost shrimp to try the water parameters... but the minimum amount i can buy is by hundreds... how to fit so many shrimps inside my nano tank??... aih....

if amano shrimps are rm1 each i dun mind trying... they cost rm3 each here...

update on my semi cichlid planted tank ..
80% crushed coral removed, tank was half cleaned, fish removed to temp place, backgound attached but still curing, pumps, light and wiring is in place.

p/s: 9ft tank permission was denied .. mom said cost too high .. tank alone is 1.5k, cabinet is 2k, all substrate, powersand, bacterballs, penac, etc is 4k, co2 with solenoid will cost 600, lights is 7k....

to save cost, i planned to diy a plywood tank but that patern is denied as well .. mom said she dont want me to go fibreglass or even if i only used the resin anymore ..

maybe gonna buy a 3ft instead and put it in my room ..

wow... looks nice... yeah, 9ft tank cost alot more... every cost needs to be multiplied (tank, lights, substrate, cabinet, etc)...

hey guys...got a question...

see the attached picture....the maroon color is my filter and tat is my current filter position..i notice tat only half of the tank's water can circulate....while another half water is still...so which position is best to put my HOB filter??

it's a 400L/H filter on 18" x 8" x 8"...i'm thinking of shifting to middle of the tank...

and if the plants planted infront of the filter..will the plant grow??

i wonder how much budget u had pump into this aquarium..
