QUOTE(jolmy @ Jun 23 2017, 05:48 PM) I believe it has to do with technicalities. TM does assign different range of phone numbers for different types of service. And yet mobile operators can port your number to a completely different network under different company. For e.g. in my area serviced by TM's TTDI exchange: PSTN (a.k.a. POTS) phone numbers: 03-772x xxxx UniFi VoIP phone numbers: 03-773x xxxx So if your current phone number is 03-7727 7777 and you want to port it to UniFi VoIP service, unfortunately, it cannot be done as dialing the number 03-772x xxxx will route the call to the PSTN network in TTDI. You can only choose the number from 03-773x xxxx. If you do not like your number, you can request to change to another number within the same range, i.e. 03-773x xxxx, subject to availability, but you will be charged one-time RM25 to change number in your next bill. |

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Jun 24 2017, 11:25 AM) Yes, after you totally terminate your account. Mine would not be refunded because TM says Im still maintaining the old streamyx number. Was it an existing line before you applied streamyx or did the line come with streamyx installation? This post has been edited by totally_skint: Jun 24 2017, 12:51 PM |

QUOTE(lukemanz @ Jun 24 2017, 11:43 AM) This is correct, but before 20 Jun 2017 only. So, you're basically cancelling your old copper line.20 Jun 2017 onwards, PSTN & Streamyx customer can bring the number to be UniFi phone number. Customer who already using UniFi, and got extra PSTN number (got 1 line unifii + 1 line pstn at the same premise) also can bring the number to be UniFi phone number right now. Can be requested at TMpoint Does this mean you can get back your deposit for that line? |

QUOTE(King12gg @ Jun 28 2017, 10:59 PM) Not really. There are other broadband operators that's offering lower prices but restricted by really limited availability. Just shows how costly our monopolistic broadband from TM really is. We're forced to subscribe to their HyppTV service. Else it would be more competitively priced. |

QUOTE(Lazygenes @ Jul 9 2017, 09:27 PM) To share. I had an account under Advance 30 which I wanted to downgrade to Unifi Lite because not fully utilised. Not possible, have to terminate Advance 30 and reapply Unifi Lite as new account, 2 year contract. They will give new equipment. Old BTU must return to TM to cancel old account. Penalty? |

QUOTE(nmb3rs @ Jul 16 2017, 12:23 AM) In terms of parts sourcing, it is never a good idea to source from a single manufacturer/supplier. If a single sourced manufacturer/supplier is unable to meet TM's demand, then they are screwed which means new customer wont get their equipment. Delayed in installation for new customers means less revenue for TM. Well put! Also with more supplier/manufacturer, it gives TM some negotiating power - in the sense that you can lower the price to be comparable with other supplier/manufacturer. But of course it also depends on how good their procurement team manage the volume that each supplier/manufacturer gets which can get tricky. I'm not in the supply line background but I've worked with procurement teams to qualify alternative components source in the electronic industry - it is a norm and healthy practice to get supplies from more than 1 source. Hope this helps So, how many types of BTUs are out there? |

QUOTE(nmb3rs @ Jul 19 2017, 04:36 PM) I see there are alot of confusion about the black cable not being optic fiber. Can the fibre connector fit through the 5 sen hole?Let me help to clear this up, for FTTH installation, the cable that comes from the pole is indeed optic fiber and it is black in colour. There are 2 strands in it, optic fiber and a cable that is used to tie to the mounting on your house and the other end on the pole. The black cable goes all the way inside the house to the FWS. The FWS is normally placed near the BTU. FWS is connected to BTU via a white fibre optic cable. According to my installer, they no longer install FTB (dont mind this tho, as there will be less losses coz using lesser interconnects. if possible i want a single long strand of fiber all the way from the fibre on the pole without any connectors in between to my BTU, but wont be possible. haha. fiber optic connectors are very sensitive especially to dust. POLE --- (black cable) ---> EXT HOUSE WALL (coiled round without case) --- (black cable)---> INSIDE HOUSE WALL --- (black cable) ---> FWS (mounted on wall near BTU) --- INSIDE HOUSE WALL (white cable) ---> BTU If can then with all the extra cable outside the subscriber can reposition the cabling. |
