QUOTE(Bacon-ator @ May 7 2017, 09:41 PM) This is my battery life since unplugging at 5am this morning. Lots of browsing using Samsung internet and lots of WhatsApp, a bit of YouTube and fb. Very very impressed. None show data usage. Only use WiFi? Using cellular data is one of the major battery drain too.First pic was at 5.30pm with 75% battery remaining This is my battery usage now at 9.40pm |

QUOTE(LordDenning @ May 7 2017, 09:53 PM) would like to know this too, like how iphone unlock automatically once pin correctly entered.. But it cant be like iphone... iPhone only 4 digits right?annoying to press OK. Android one can set a lot of numbers... if auto unlock, then you are giving hints on your password length. |

QUOTE(ericng19 @ May 8 2017, 09:58 AM) To save battery, you also need to check if your location gps, mobile data, nfc, always on display is turned off or not, especially GPS eats alot of your battery if you dont turned them off. These are the main culprit eating your phones battery life. If you have home wifi just connected to it, you will still receiving whatsapp msgs and notificiations while you're sleeping. Hope this helps. I definitely wouldn't suggest turning off gps aka location. It will turn itself on when not being used but if you turn it off and you launch a program that needed it, a gps related app (can't remember the name) would keep draining your battery. |

QUOTE(woonyoung91 @ May 8 2017, 10:08 AM) Found some interesting write up by a fellow xda member. His comments are as follows: Well, in technical terms, OLED don't have backlight like traditional LCD. LCD uses CCFL or LED as backlight. OLED lights itself up when being subject to electricity, eliminating the need for backlight. Quote: I am no expert but I once read that it's not burn in but that the screen in the black portions it's less consumed. Let me explain. Theoretically in AMOLEDs (OLEDs) the pixel is the led. When the pixel it's turn on it has a color, when not it's black. So like all my Nexus with AMOLED (Nexus 6 & 6p) if the navbar is always black (or most time), sooner or later you will see a bar at the bottom of your screen that it's "brighter" than the rest of the screen because it has been more time turned off than other pixels. Also the buttons in the navbar may look burned in but really they are contrasting with the intensity of the screen where the navbar pixels have been turned off. Following this theory the white buttons pixels remain turned on in a specific color wich with time get washed away because the lack of brightness (they are more "consumed"). This is just a theory that I once read and sustains that not matter what, if you have an AMOLED screen with navigation buttons you will for sure get this effect. It doesn't matter if you don't see it, it will happen. For example on the pixel c that has navigation buttons this won't happen because has an LTPS IPS LCD panel. A burn in (no powerless pixels XD) could happen but it would need hours of turn on static screen. Hope this helps. If this it's just ridiculous I can guarantee for sure that in all my AMOLED screens I got this "burn in" . 1. Try lightly double tapping ur home button when your screen is lock. Able to see the messages as iPhone then. The 3 navigation keys definitely lights up for most part except when you're loading games or watching videos. It's definitely prone to image retention depending on how you use your phone. For some people who can spent hours daily on social medias, wouldn't be surprised if it came to them faster than others. |

QUOTE(hirota @ May 8 2017, 10:51 AM) The explanation is pretty detailed for each selection.High accuracy means using every single location method like wifi, cellular and gps. Battery saving would only use wifi and cellular. Device only would only use GPS itself without cellular and wifi assistance. |

QUOTE(zirconzest @ May 9 2017, 07:28 AM) hi guys, anyone managed to get the edge lighting notification working on S8? mine seems not working at all whether when the screen is on or off. only the LED notifications works. Did you select the app to enable this? Just tried it on my wife phone and whatsapp only works on screen on. Maybe need to configure whatsapp to make it show when screen off. The blue is really tiny. You really have to pay attention to see it. |

QUOTE(mchjkl @ May 9 2017, 12:56 PM) Hi all, tried so many ways to restore my whatsapp backup message but still failed so far. Would changing to new nano sim cause this restoration issue? Am thinking about rooting the phone to manually copy the whatsapp data. Any idea what else could be done other than rooting? I noticed that only older model phone with old version whatsapp can do this copying restoration. Even my S6e also cannot if I remember correctly. |

QUOTE(pvateme @ May 10 2017, 08:08 AM) Funny, my s7e is different, which it had longer column length. Only this s8 has a shorter column length than others. Sigh. Thanks for the reply anyway. I rechecked my wife S8+ and it seems like same like yours. I wonder if it's related to the restore thing. Even messages sent from her device is like that. Did you restore from an iPhone? I wonder if that's related since she was an iPhone user before this. |
