i am a Singaporean. i have rental income and dividend income in Malaysia. but i do not have salary in Malaysia.

is it possible for me a apply for a credit card in Malaysia?

i frequently go Malaysia so the purpose is to earn rebates using the credit card

i check from Chat GPT and it say i can apply for a credit card by placing a 10k FD to get a unsecured credit card. some bank like standard chart, Maybank may offer this option. is this true?

if yes, which malaysia bank give good rebates (cash rebates) without much criteria

Thanks
*
most banks accept non-MY salary for cc application. but CL will be 1:1 ratio.

your other income may be supplemented together with your SG salary slip during card application.

as for rebates, what kind of rebates? post in this topic https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4161836 using template from post #2.

Am I allowed to make a full settlement for my Maybank EzyPay Plus? If so, will I be required to pay the remaining principal along with the management charges?
*
yes you can do early settlement

call bank to do it, they will release all the balance into the card account and you pay accordingly.

mgmt fee, iinm, it's already charged upfront.

not sure about early settlement. ask the bank about it.

Should I reply to the banks to update my e-Invoicing details? I got another reminder from CIMB.

What will happen to me if I don't update it? unsure.gif
*
i updated it yesterday after gotten another reminder from cimb

the form filling is more to "getting consent", rather than "getting info"

your default details already pre-filled. you just need to input email and TIN.

after input your TIN, it's still pending "verification" stage, which also means it still need to cross-ref with LHDN or something.

U mean rebates, cashback, prizes gained from cc campaigns r now taxable?

read the news and the SST lor ... it's been all over the news since yesterday

someone gotta decipher what affected.

roughly from the news.... "Service tax will be imposed at a rate of eight per cent on fee- and commission-based financial services, but several key exemptions will remain in place.."

“Basic banking services for the rakyat, including current and savings account-related charges, will remain exempted from service tax for both conventional and Islamic banking services,”

The public to look out for communications from their respective banks that will be published via the banks' official channels for further details.

----
// As part of the SST expansion on financial services, the implementation will be carried out in phases.

For Phase 1, effective 1 July 2025, the following CIMB services and its corresponding fee/charges which previously were
not subject to SST will now be subject to the 8% Service Tax:-

Debt Markets – Arranger/Facility Agent Services
a) Arranger/Facility Agent Service Fee
b) Agency Fee
c) Administrative Charges

Other financial services provided by CIMB will be subject to the 8% Service Tax in subsequent phase(s), unless specifically
exempted. //

I called HQ, and CS say not able to change. My current statement is 15th of every month, and CS say everyone else is the same statement date. Very weird rclxub.gif
*
not weird

probably their user base is small, there's no urgency/need to have multiple statement cycles (which requires addtional resources to run extra job)

Was just wondering, for local banks like (HLB, AM, CIMB etc...), do they automatically permanently increase the credit limit without proof of income, or do you need to walk in to the branch and apply manually and submit supporting documents?

Meanwhile, for foreign bank, I manage to get a few permanent increases without submitting proof of income.
*
QUOTE(aurora97 @ Nov 4 2025, 01:22 PM)
Got a point there... not quite automatica, still have to respond to their SMS😅

RM0 UOB: Get higher credit limit up to RM xx with no documents required if your employer is unchanged for the last 24 months & have no non-bank debt. Reply "UM4" by 31Oct25 to apply. By replying, you declare that the above is true and agree to the T&C. Search "ND1" for more info and T&C.
*
dont need to pray for automatic increase.

banks nowadays are very very careful in increasing CL. the risk to the cardholder is higher and potential litigation is also high (eg bank auto-increase CL, user overspent without knowing CL, failed to pay then blame bank for not stopping the transaction/CL too high because auto-increase by bank without consent!)

Not praying for an auto increase.

I am wondering for local banks, is it likely they will offer you like (UOB) or its more likely you have to walk-in and apply?

I have my [insert reasons] to ask for high limit and I am aware the banks have their reasons to give it or otherwise.
*
actually it doesnt matter on the likelihood. what works now may not work later anyway, as policy changes from time to time.

if you want to increase perm CL, then submit request to increase as normal. banks will need to (re)evaluate your financial health.

Just to check. Under CCRIS report. I saw "application of credit" for bank muamalat. Does that mean, my CC application is approved? or just the indication of I am applying for the cc?
*
just started

Application For Credit:
- Pending: Pending decision by financial institution.
- Approved by FI: Approved by financial institution and accepted by customer.
- Pending Acceptance by Customer: Approved by financial institution but pending acceptance by customer.

13/10 - 1 or 2/11. There is no T&C on spending categories.. I will mostly use it for groceries and dining. If no min spending then this card is better than Affin Vs for paywave spending.. Havent call bank to ask my statement date too
*
if possible, try contactless/wave >RM250 (later with pin validation)... see can get cb or not
