Hello sifu.

I bought items using credit card installment (2 years), and lets say in 1 year I'm planning to terminate the card. Is it allowed? So, I need to consult the bank or the vendor to continue or transfer the installment plan to new card?
*
consult the bank. vendor has nothing to do.

but u must clear all outstanding before terminate a card.

u can pay full amout, or u can also BT to another credit 1st then after clear only terminate the previous card.

but do note that most installment plan got penalty for early termination example rm100.

do check it with your bank notworthy.gif

Is HLB Essential card the only card with unlimited 1% cashback?

Is there any other credit card that offers higher % without cap?
*
hlb ess 1% is only for spending starting on rm7001. the 1st rm7k only get 0.4% (rm28)

if the place u want to spend can use amex, go for amex cash back gold card. also 1% unlimited (while for oversea is 1.5%) but got annual fee on 2nd year
https://www.maybank2u.com.my/WebBank/GRCC-CashBack-TnC.pdf

another option is alliance younique rebates. first 3 years annual fee waived, thereafter same as hlb, waived with a minimum swipe 12x/year
https://www.alliancebank.com.my/Alliance/me...S-CC-Credit.pdf

if ur spending is below rm2.5k, better go for maybank barcelona 2%

Hi guys

I'm a bit newbie when it come to CC usage
there are few question i would like to ask

1. how to do the payment?
Do we look at outstanding or current balance?

2. Is it possible to change payment from one-shot to monthly commitment?
eg: i buy stuff online cost about 1K, but i can't pay back one-shot, is it possible to ask the bank to make the payment as monthly commitment? is it possible?

3. What is late payment fee? I saw few cards actually mention late payment fee (NIL)
meaning that if i'm unable to pay the statement on time, they won't pose any penalty? is that correct?
*
1. look at STATEMENT balance

2. yes possible. call your bank and ask about flexi payment. some bank such as hlb and std chart can convert to installment plan via online banking (self-service)

3. unable to pay statement on time got 2 scenarios;

a. unable to pay full, but still pay min payment or higher = no late payment fee. but got interest
b. unable to pay any amount at all = will get late payment fee.

late payment fee is chargeable if no payment received at all after due date. usually 1st statement will be NIL.
some cashback card, the cashback from previous statement/month is higher than min payment, thus it also will make late payment NIL.

For Q2, this is called installment and usually will be imposed with interest by banks. So not worth for it.

hlb is 0% for 12 months thumbup.gif

promo till 30 june.

Hi every sifu, may i know for below card with 10% cashback but min spend as follows, does the category "online spending/other retail spending" include e-wallet reload?

1) CITI CASHBACK CARD - RM500
2) UOB ONE CARD - RM500
3) HONG LEONG WISE GOLD - RM500
*
yes for 2&3. Example hlb wise, u can straight topup ewallet 500 on weekend, so u hit the min spend requirement to get 8%, but max cashback is just rm15 (assume u didnt spend on other categories)

QUOTE(Duckies @ Feb 18 2024, 07:20 PM)
What's the best way to get cashback or rebates for a 5k purchase from Shopee? I currently have PBB Islamic Platinum, Maybank Amex, Affinbank Duo and Duo+...was thinking either Amex on weekend or Duo but Duo macam no rebate for payment over 250 IINM hmm..
*
QUOTE(Duckies @ Feb 18 2024, 10:12 PM)
Don't recall if over 250 has cashback or not. I believe it's a no but just want to double confirm here.
*
u mentioned from shopee, which is ONLINE, not swipe. So its 3% max either rm30 or rm50, based on previous statement balance. while pbe-i max just rm30 and amex 2 card rm50.

Not sure if this is the right forum.I am wondering why Hong Leong don't wanna approve my cc application..second time rejected liao..funny thing is I got loan account and savings account with them for quite a few years already..prompt payment every month.

I had a maybank cc before which I got after I graduated and just recently cancelled it thinking to have all my banking matters with Hong Leong but yeah having challenges..anyone facing this issue or any experience?
*
for hlb, u can apply via FD. my broinlaw successfully did that.

Just check only 1 month Spaylater has 0% fee.. If I do monthly installment then don't get the cashback right?
*
shopee installment can get cashback for pbe-i thumbup.gif

while for pbe VS, min monthly must >100. Example 1200 installment for 6 months, monthly will be 200 and will get 3% cashback for 6 months notworthy.gif

QUOTE(Duckies @ Feb 18 2024, 11:03 PM)
Ya.. If just one month probably the Amex gives the best rebate.
*
mathematically, topup shopeepay using pbe-i and affin will get u rm30 + rm30 so total will be rm60 which is higher than amex rm50. but shopeepay max topup is rm4999 so if u want to pay rm5k item then cannot use shopeepay, unless got voucher that can reduced total to be below rm4999

The item after discounted also over 5k so I guess the second method is not suitable for me.

For PBB VS that's if monthly installment also can get cashback? I remembered the card has been revised before so I only use it for dining only.

So if let's say 5k and installment for 6 months for online items FROM Shopee.. I still get 3% for 6 months? So this should be the best option?

Oh, one more thing...if purchase online over 250 using Affin Duo can still get cashback? Or only for transactions below 250?

I think safer to use PBB Visa Signature to get the cashback?
*
dont confuse urself.

online dont related with that 250 transaction, thats OFFLINE swipe.

so pay 1k with affin duo visa still get 3%
and yes 1k with pbe vs also get 3%

now I'm also in dilemma, the cash back from M2C AMEX and FCB is neither here nor there since most of my spendings are for utilities, TnG and petrol.

most of the CCs don't cover my requirements and a few has spending tier/category to truly earn the cashback  sad.gif
*
amex still give cashback on weekend for petrol.

while for utilities, to get the amex weekend cashback, pay via "other" website, example pay syabas or indah water via lazada, and pay using amex biggrin.gif

---

btw for tng and utilities - PBE VS and PBE-i visa still give cashback to both (reload tng ewallet / pay utilities online) notworthy.gif

TIA
*
u can simply apply using mykad of ur dad or ur son then just pass the card to ur grandfather in law to use
