wanna ask if there's any issue if one of the chain link(stiff) is tilted at an angle. is it dangerous to continue riding?

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Jul 27 2023, 07:46 PM) Seized link. Time for new chain. thanks for the reply.Might jump the sprocket or snap off entirely. Try cleaning the chain properly and relubing it. See if can unfreeze it. You could try replacing the link 8f you have an extra quick connect chain link only ran 11K Km and so fast seized? any idea what can cause it? parking under the sun daily possible to cause it? i lube the chain every 600 km and i see no rust on the chain |

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Jul 27 2023, 09:59 PM) Depending on the chain. What chain is this? have no idea what type of chain it is For a sealed chain it's not so much about the frequency of the lube but also how clean you keep the chain. My factory o ring chain lasted for 20k noisy and stretched to crap but with no seized links. My current X seal chain has about 32k on it and starting to see signs of wear...with one semi seized link that sometimes frees itself after a good clean and lube. It's due for replacement soon. factory chain on the manual states DID 520VF or RK 520KLO2 |

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Jul 28 2023, 10:48 AM) Those are standard o ring chains for small capacity bikes. I assume you use a 250. yessir its a 250 Chains are not expensive. If you cant free up the seized link after cleaning and relubing, just replace it. Usually it's recommended to change the chain and sprockets the same time. My stock sprockets are pretty much done for in about 30k km anyways so I always replace them as a set. QUOTE(alexei @ Jul 28 2023, 10:53 AM) Chain kinks because the chain lube not compatible with the internal grease, or water masuk pass the o-ring and corroded the pins. Could be anything. am using motul chain lube.At one time, I took out my old kinking chain, put into a pot of engine oil and heat it up. Now I use back, and so far no add chain lube, see how long it will last. am wondering whether you guys hose down the chain with water after scrubbing/cleaning with degreaser or straight apply chain lube without a wash with water? mechanic also ask me why the chain so fast KO and he thinks its most likely because i wash with water after cleaning the chain. other ppl use pressurized water to clean chain hence there is much lesser water/moisture build up in the chain but using a hose to do it is a no no. |

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Sep 12 2023, 01:33 PM) Lol yeah. saw how it looks, the rear set is only for desperate situations i guess...whoever sits there sure suffer, that bike is for lone riders Seems only modeski got consistent supply. Its only the versys 650 or the z900. Even then, I highly question the z900 as a long distance bike. The rear sets are quite high, and the rear pillion seat is small and hard, good, should you plan on torturing your partner. Honda is hopeless case. Suzuki still has the vstrom 650, and perhaps the very few SV650 that might be still around. Otherwise nothing else in the market. honda really damn hopeless...bike domt have, even spare parts also hard to get. V strom headlamp looks the ugliest among the 4 jap brands... even worse than mt 09 single eye cyclop imo |

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Oct 23 2023, 05:39 PM) I'm getting. 18km/l on a yaris at 120 constant. 20km/L at 110. Go figure Well we have the aerodynamics of a barn door. Plus I'm running risers...so I sit almost bolt upright. Yeah..so FC isn't much to shout about. I think the big bike with the best fuel economy will be the nc750x. That bike sips fuel. not selling well in msia? |

QUOTE(Patent @ Nov 18 2023, 05:59 AM) yeah I think you should change it. just look for pirelli or michelin good already do the uneven wear happen on the front tire too? if only rear tire then might be not aligned properly if both tire uneven might be how you ride the bike or load it like heavier bag on one side or yeah maybe its just the road you simply took every day QUOTE(nelienuxe_sara @ Nov 19 2023, 11:28 PM) just an update, picture shown of uneven thread wear is on the front tyre, rear tyre its fine. went to change a set of tyres and asked the mechanic why the wear is one sided, he told me its due to a single disc brake at the front therefore the wear is more on one side, if its dual disc brake the wear will be even. Is there such a thing? he recommended pirelli rosso 3, front 110/70R17 back 150/60/r17 rm 680, This post has been edited by ExCrIpT: Nov 25 2023, 02:11 PM |

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Nov 25 2023, 10:04 PM) Really? erm, the shop i went to was chan bikers in shah alam. i too was puzzled when he said that, my reply was "really? there's such a thing??"You might want to find a better mechanic....lolz. I've gone through 3 fronts on my single disc Dominar in the 2.5 years I had it. They all wear evenly...or in my case, wear unevenly consistently.... Due to the corsa cross x knobbly ish thread. Unless you really do lefts more aggressively all the time, it seems to be a fork problem, steering cone bearing or your rear is misaligned. Does the bike track straight with no hands on the handlebar? You you sit straight and centre on the bike? I know someone that sits slightly off, basically counter leaning on one side all the time. Both my front and back wears more to the left, as I tend to take lefts more aggressively...which is normal for our right hand drive roads. |

Been wondering, is it ok to use different brand chain lube.
am currently using Liqui moly chain lube but the small lube can i bring for long distance travel is Motul C2. will there be any harm switching chain lube brands while performing chain lube maintenance w/o degreasing the chain? |
