You can but due to firmware may not be able to support with Malaysia

Not SIRIM Certified.
I cannot guarantee that the router will work in Malaysia.

Do contact TM about this issue.

If the router support VLAN out of the box, you are good to go. Asus router is a safe bet as it's firmware is universal ans support VLAN out of the box.

My advice for you is to get a suggestion from a friend.

Since not most of the router support VLAN Tagging.
Check with the dealer about VLAN Tagging.

My best advice is to buy local warranty set so that you can obtain/claim warranty if anything happens.

Yes, as long as it supports VLANs and PPPoE on the VLAN, it'll work. Why don't you look for a used RGX4400? It's actually a very good router. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3994248

I got one here from Garage Sales for RM50. What's your budget?

If you want to troll, try putting more effort doh.gif How does a router work if it doesn't have antenna. No visible antenna doesn't mean no antenna doh.gif

lol thats a good one. one thing i learned is that no matter how good the wireless throughput from a router, if your receiver not good, u still not getting good signal.

I have purchased an Asus router from Taobao and currently using it ASUS AC 66U for RM 2xx. Seems to be an European set but looks new . Without the retail box.

The Unifi ISP setting is already in built. No problem to use on the spot. But u need to find a shipper able to ship it back to Malaysia. The normal freight by air dont ship modems. It took me 6 weeks for sea freight.

Hope this helps.

I saw this comment and straight up bought a Asus RT-AC66U for about RM230. Actually, it's an American set not European. I had yet to found any European set sold in Taobao. Luckily the forwarder are able to ship via air. Will be receiving it in a week time.

I'm so tempted to get one too. Why is there such a huge discrepancy in pricing? Local price is what? RM500?

On a different note, have you got your unifi speed upgrade yet?

I checked the firmware was from EU so i assumed it was from there. Not too sure if its US or EU. But the Unifi setting is already available when i plug it in.

Seller also sells the AC68 if you need one.

Asus routers are way overpriced in Malaysia for unknown reason. RT-AC66U cost USD $140 in US and it's sold >RM750 in Malaysia puke.gif . Basically the Taobao link above sold unit that are refurbished. Since the price is so cheap, I wouldn't mind about the warranty and the aesthetic. I just got upgraded from VIP5 to Unifi Lite like three weeks ago.

Yeah man. Other buyers just becareful on the shipping as the first time i bought using Taobao Global Direct it was rejected at warehouse hence need to ship back to seller for refund. Then i used a sea shipper, no problem. So far used it for 2-3 weeks no issue, firmware updated, stable and can handle multiple device connection easily. Just a little warm.

Also the adapter pin is China's so use a simple travel adapter will do. China appliances can use MY socket without a transformer.

Cheers.

Im already using it bro like a month plus. Its good and most importantly even with multi device connected it still handles it well unlike my previous default TMNET Dlink which more than 5-6 devices it will start to stutter loggin into the wifi network.

For the price, no issue at all. WIFI coverage is good.

Why did you buy the router from China when you can get good ones here for quite reasonable prices?

As far as I know, the China router you bought does not support VLAN tagging which is required for Unifi, so even if you have your PPPoE username and password to connect, you won't be able to use the router unless you get a smart switch that can support VLAN tagging. See here: https://www.blacktubi.com/guide/make-any-ro...-work-on-unifi/

Did you flash international firmware? Did you choose unifi as profile?
If there are no option to choose these, i believe you can set manually, in web interface > LAN > IPTV, internet VID 500.

China router is cheaper, but lower signal strength. You have to flash ROM or some are locked at bootloader.

check for LAN -> IPTV
if its not there then you're out of luck unless you get a smart switch to handle the vlan

this is the problem with buying chinese routers
1. lower transmit power
2. Chinese only firmware
3. bloat like qq game booster

and no, you cannot flash it to global
