Then don't buy d-segment, just buy the smaller c-segment (Mazda 3 or Civic).

There are a couple of things here:

2.0 D segment cars do 0-60 in around 9 seconds. It's not fast and it won't do much for you on a race track but it's fast enough for normal people driving to work etc. When I leave my condo in the morning, I don't floor the accelerator and push the red line all the way to the office.

The current Accord has been on sale since 2008 with various faces. The model for 2018 will be all new. There is really no point in buying a car at the end of its product life cycle regardless of the discounts offered.

Really only 9 secs meh? I think more than that. And it's not just about 0-60mph time, but more about how it responses when you're already cruising and that's where a car with good power/torque will feel a lot different. But anyway if got good power, actually no need to push the gas pedal much to red line, it should be more effortless, so that's the point! But yeah anyway people have different feel of what is enough power or under power, mostly based on driving habit. If one is used to driving under powered cars then they won't feel it's under powered in the first place so still ok.
