For a young puppy, it may be hard for her to hold it in and she may pee poo in the cage. For typical adult dogs, I believe most can hold it for more than 8 hours.
My schedule is such - Wake up 6:50am, take dog out to pee. After that, prepare food for her. While she eats, I get ready to leave for work. Before I leave, I take her out one more time to pee and she usually poop as well on the second time. I leave her in the house uncaged. Lunch time, I make my way back home and always get a happy welcome home from her as her tails go bump bump bump as she wags furiously hitting walls, furniture, doors. After 5pm, I leave work and head back home. Sometimes, I have to work late so she will be by herself until I can get home. Then it's out to pee and poop if she wants, play, if I am home early, I load her up in the car and go 1) walk around lake 2) shopping at Petco 3) walk to ice-cream shop and she gets a treat, etc. After we get home, rest for about 2 hours then feeding time again. QUOTE(^MochI^ @ May 17 2007, 10:17 PM) the 1st week she did pee in the cage, now no more liao.....Whenever she's in the cage, no pee and poo, when i release her, she'll fast fast run to the correct place to pee. Mostly pee 2 times then only finish, meaning pee once, then run away, sniff sniff, run back then pee 2nd time after holding 8 hours pee. BUT....if she sees a stranger, she'll become super excited, tail wag super fast, then sure pee one. I kena many times liao, when my fren come look for me, FIFI saw them, rush to them, with a pee track on the floor....... I also dunno how to deal wif it, hope that when she grow up, she'll be better lah. QUOTE(andyfriends @ May 18 2007, 08:48 AM) how old is ur fifi? My FIFI now is 4 months old loh. For me lah, whenever I'm out, I'll cage FIFI,coz scared she'll bite things like wires.....now she is teething, so always bite here bite there....... IMO, u need to cage-train the puppy, just to save u from trouble. |

QUOTE(^MochI^ @ May 30 2007, 11:07 PM) eh wan to ask how many times u all feed ur under 12mths puppy, and also when the dog reach 1yr.. Well... it depends... chicken is easy to digest.... but lamb is good for skin.how long shld i seperate first meal and second meal? chicken and rice or lamb and rice? wads the diff? A puppy would need 3 to 4 meals a day. You just divide to your own timing..... all the meals should be small.... follow the amount on the dogfood bag, it has directions on how much to feed 1 day. |

QUOTE(^MochI^ @ May 30 2007, 11:18 PM) but i dunoe how to agar agar noe the amount lei.. Yes, you can get the cup from any petshop. I also follow cup read frm the site of NUTRIEdGE 1/4 to 1½= how much? measuring cup got state ? is it when the puppy whine for food then i giv la.. but muz limit 3-4 meals a day. shld i buy those milk formula for it also? wad are the other supplements shld i give? Anyway, don't give food when the puppy make noise... give proper timing.... say 7am or 8am.... then 2pm... then 8pm.... up to you to adjust the time.... but also this depends on the size of the pup. If you need better info, it is best to ask a vet when and how much to feed coz sometimes a pup may be weak in health, so need more meals.... No need, a 8 week old pup doesn't need milk anymore. Do not spoil the puppy, later when older it will make you headache with feeding. Supplements, normally I advice people just give a little bit of fish oil, that is enough. Coz the dogfood already got vitamins and minerals, if you give more, it can make their health worst than make them healthy. Still, always ask a vet first about the supplements and mention the brand to the vet before buying.... |

1. i think if ur brand gives u da measurement cup den it should be stated there, or elz u can try giving a lil, if da pup finishes in a few minutes, den u try giving a lil bit more. den u observe how much da pup can eat.
2. don wait til it whine for food, u set da time, don let da dog set da time or elz later u hv 2 follow his schedule. 3 meals like 9am, 2pm, 9pm should b ok.. 3. should buy milk formula if pup is less than 2 n half months old or da pup whine for milk[refuses 2 eat da kibbles]. mostly breeder/ petshops will sell pups when they can take kibbles..so jus soak da kibbles wif warm water b4 feeding. milk can b take as may supper or morning high tea, if u'd like to. 4. supplements like fish oil, flex seed oil, calcium, vitaminB can b given. dosage according 2 da label lor. Added on May 30, 2007, 11:29 pmbtw now pet's family in tmn megah got giv free cups, from eukanuba. hehe. This post has been edited by jaunty_niel: May 30 2007, 11:29 PM |

I only use those Chinese soup spoon, 2 spoons full for FIFI each meal. QUOTE(mudz @ May 31 2007, 01:24 AM) If not mistaken lah, normally puupy should take the 1st jab at 8 weeks old coz their immune system already built up.Deworm at 4 weeks old. nothing much can be done, all the steps are listed in this thread. I train my puppy by following all the steps here and it works, she's a shih tzu also by the way.
Just repeat and repeat loh. WHen he bites paper, say NO....then push him a bit. See him sniff sniff wanna pee or poo at wrong spot, again NO.......push him a bit, then bring him to the paper. After finish, treats. U ask others also the same answer will be given lah, just follow watever in this thread ok lah..... All the best |
