bro when you power up the power switch in your diagram the computer will switch on  ? or do you still have to press the button on your CPU?
*
Actually that is the safe switch... because it is connected direct to the battery.... the inverter is stil running..but not on heavy load larr... but still will consume power from the battery...that switch is to switch of the inverter..and on the inverter oso got one switch..

*
more or less the same... but as for me..i wan it to be apart of my car ICE... dun wan to plug in and out..... looks more unique rather than using a notebook....everybody see notbe book everywhere...but a car pc? how often do you see ppl do that...

Ok firstly, really impressive job to link up the pc to the front. more intersting than PC mods ..  icon_rolleyes.gif

btw,  i'm not advertising jsut suggesting ...
Firefly remote & MCE OS or any vista with MCE built in .. then u dont need that mouse anymore smile.gif

best still, if u can mount LCD ( 5.25" ) + Remote from products like

M-Play Blast VFD ( not available anymore otherwise around RM 340 )

or

Imon

or Silverstone's MFP 51. ( bout RM 400 )

or

Firefly remote only ( bout RM 220 )
*
yeah dude... been looking for such remote.. Sniper on the roof gave me that idea oso.... will consider buying one.... any pics on those remotes?

Wooooooooooooo. If u get the E-Manage then u can plug it in to the car PC n monitor ALL parameters in real time at all times. damn cool man. Sumore when Desmond dyno tune ur car he can just use ur built in PC instead of having to hook up his own laptop.

hehe, consider it a challenge from the uncle..I'm sure there are places in a kelisa to  tuck away a small PC..

Zyntherius, I remember where I got the idea for controlling the ECU by in-car computer..Fast and Furious..man, that was cool, even though it was largely cosmetic in the movie..
*
dude...you gave me an idea!!... what if i integrate a scondary monitor to replace my instrument meter to a 7 inch monitor and make it into a full time speedo and rpm meter.... hmmm.... sounds cool haaa... but i need to figure out how to boot up the pc when i start the car so that it will display the meters on the lcd...

I was thinking about it myself. Bit tricky as you'll need something to interface between the instrument panel signals and the PC. Definitely something with an ADC.

My own plan was to rig up a LED array like the one you cna find on Honda S2000. Not that hard to do with simple electronic components, no need for a PC. But I may never actually get around to doing it..got many other better things to do.
*
LED arrays can do one..but interface firmware lehh ECU alone cannot interpret the signal lehh...

Like mentioned before, he's using a laptop HDD. Laptop HDDs spin slower, and are less vulnerable to car goyang. Also, don't be stupid la and put important data on it, most also you'll put songs and movies only right?
*
Yeap... i use laptop hdd..more durable than the desktop ones......
