Already arranged with the Mediaplex folks for our own outing. Watching this tomorrow, the day after and of course the weekends, with different sets of friends. Summer movies are upon us. After 300, it shall be Bridge to Terabithia.

Still have my inside contact to get early ticket bookings like i did pre-PSP-breakup. For the record, i've arranged the Ep. III ROTS in BTS for the Premiere class(booked entire theatre) and 100+ attendee for Matrix Revolutions.

Also have the "Just Like You Imagined" music track from Nine Inch Nails from the "300" trailing running in my room now, will be the ringtone for my phone throughout "300" week. cool.gif

That song is the one playing in the "300" trailer, so you should have an idea how it sounds like. Fits the rebellious mood of the Spartans as well.

As for the censoring, im due to head to Adelaide, my favourite cinema-watching nightstop in in 2 weeks. Watching this in the Director's Chair there, or their Half-pipe cinema UNCENSORED will be the highlight of my plans there. Those who are eager to watch this uncensored but closer to home, may head to GV (TGV's equivalent in Singapore) on their MAX session there. Watch a couple of my movies there, and they were not censored. I was supposed to go there today as well as part of attending the PS3 SG launch, but plan scrapped due to the ones going with me unable to secure leave.

Addendum: From the press screening, it was reported that the sex scenes were cut to a minimum, but brutalities remain intact. That remains to be seen tomorrow when iget to to see it the first time. FYI, this movie receive a standing ovation during its world premiere in Berlin when it first screened. thumbup.gif

Too many places to edit from. The guitar riff? The piano solo? Definitely in the middle of the song though, where the guitar riffs are heavier.Try at 2:25 onwards. Also try from 3:00 onwards if you like the violins in as well.

The sex scenes are supposedly noteworthy too. Let's just say they dont do it "the conventional way", rather using different......."entrance", for the lack of a better word. Whether it was merely referenced or descriptively visual, i wouldnt know, until the Bluray comes out.

There was a better movie than "300" that had screened internationally but swept under the rug here for its "artistic" nuances rather than its commercial value, the movie is called "Pan's Labyrinth". Watching this as well in Adelaide, this is a fairy tale for grown ups. Violence is only part of the recipe here.

Hamster, im not good at anything. I'd rather not try my hands on anything meant for public display. Keeping things to myself more these days, more fun while less painful comments from others.

Arj, why not join those folks at Cineleisure?

300 seconds of 300: 300 seconds of Mayhem . Watch 5 minutes of 300 EXCLUSIVE on MTV Overdrive!

Added on March 8, 2007, 12:51 amDisclaimer: Warning, certain scenes in the 300 seconds might not suite the effeminate tastes of modern metrosexual excuse we call men these days, so exercise caution if you are squeamish of gory graphic scenes.

Added on March 8, 2007, 12:58 amMay i suggest, when the dialogue in the movie goes this way:-

Persian emissary: "This is madness!"

then it is the cue for EVERYONE in the movie theatre to scream....

Everyone in the cinema hall: This is SPARTA!

Other variations like This is Pasta!, This is Butter!, or other similarly sounding syllables are most welcomed to be uttered as well.

Damn, if the crowd watching with me tomorrow is sporting as hell, the halls will be reverberating with the cries for Sparta! laugh.gif

Again, reminder, this is the scene im talking about:-

It's very quick, very spontaneous, and didnt have the Nine Inch Nails song in the background to inspire your roar....but get ready when the emissary says "This is blasphemy, this is madness!"

.....all together now......This is Sparta!. Stand up and kick the ones seated infront of you if you must, to show your support. See you at the movies!

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for the scuffles, fights and the eventual chaos that ensues should the patrons you've kicked decides to kick you back, nor am i responsible if the rest of those watching the movie decides to go Persian on your arse and overwhelm you like how the Spartan were.

Posting from Mediaplex, 300 is awesome! There are are a couple of censored scenes but all of them are sexually related. IIANM, all of the gory battle scenes are INTACT! I was pleasantly surprised that those decapitation scenes went intact without a single cut! Usually scenes like these are a big NO with the censorship board but even where the camera lingers in slow-mo showing close-up details on severed arms, legs and heads rolling, were shown in its glorious gory detail!

The censored scenes were:-

Im sorry if i have offended anyone in this thread with my enthusiasm for this movie. Im just encited of the movie and just wanted to share. If my overexcitedness of plugging this movie annoys anyone, please forgive me.

Im more than happy to organize a movie event of this movie on behalf of the community. It is just that i have this incessant feeling that it wouldnt happen the way i see it would be if my name is tied to any of the event. Something about my name seems to turn people off, not to mention the underlying hatred that comes with the username Stringfellow. If anyone still want an event about this movie, i can still organize a bulk buy with my insider contacts ,i could arrange for a bulk ticket order for either Midvalley, TGV KLCC or book the entire Premiere class in BTS if the crowd here want me to arrange it. I am up to the task, just wondering if my offer means anything here.

Still in Mediaplex here, will be going with the guys here for our own outing. Sorry again if i have offended anyone here. The offer is genuine, drop me a line/PM/post if anyone wants a movie event outing organized for 300, or any other future outing.

I've seen younger-than-18 able to enter the halls here in KLCC for this movies. Just simply sneak in when the counter states you can enter with other movies that are rated U.

Phewww, just came back for second helping of 300, weird how the audience are more reactive at a midnight show than the ones earlier. Had them hooting, cheering and even clapping when

, and also a couple of scattered applause when the movie ended. When the lights are on, then i know why....those clapping are a group of young Americans whom earlier visited and ohh-ahh at the screen when they came over to see Motorstorm running in Mediaplex...very talkative bunch...

There i go, talked too much again! Mind the spoilers if you have not watched the movie, you have been warned. More Spartan action today(Friday) with different set of friends, they are Frank Miller fans. Gonna gather up in Kinokuniya KLCC for a refresher of "300" on hardcover comic book version if they have any, before heading to the cinema hall.

This is Sparta!

WolfX , movie buff here. Can watch multiple times and still see something new in the film. Are you familiar with Moviemistakes.com? tongue.gif

Great movie outing as well with the gang today, me being a Frank Miller newbie, of course get bombarded by trivias and tidbits of infos from the gang when i watch with these diehard FM fans. First they would mention would be, "Spartans in "300" the comic rendition are naked, save for their capes". Imagine THAT on the movie version, and you'll never see "300" arriving at our shores. laugh.gif We then retired to makan dinner and then i headed back to MEdiaplex to watch Saw III at their showfloor. The shutters were closed down of course, and we had patrons exiting out from the cinemas peeking through wondering what crazy screams shouts of pains coming from within the store. tongue.gif Looked awesome on their 52in Sharp. drool.gif

The offer to organize still remains, im genuinely offering my service to do so if anyone's interested. Mediaplex apparently had connections with TGV KLCC, and if you notice the seats from Cinema 1 and Cinema 2, you will know why. They were the supplier of the cinema seats for the newly renovated seats in these halls, as well as the sole distributors of the longthrow projectors in all the halls in TGV KLCC. These projectors are 720p by specifications, with of cource mad-crazy lumens compared to home projectors. The TGV administrations even provide added privileges such as free movie tickets for Mediaplex staff to cultivate and keep their interest in the movie business . Hence how i could secure large number of tickets early with good positions in the cinema halls for groups yesterday and today, thanks to Mediaplex. So again, i reiterate, if anyone wants bulk numbers for official or to represent a large number of specific groups (no "gatherings for my family, or my close friends kinda type, please), i can try my best to arrange so.

We should consider how lucky we are, for the fact that even the Americans have yet to see this movie and we already have seen Day 3 screening of this great movie. *Today, Friday 9th in the US/10th in our country, is the US screening day FYI.* The folks at Boxofficemojo.com have barely begun tracking the movie, only parting predictions on how much this movie would make with its "R" rating.

Too much details, too much details!! ARRGGHH!! In the hardbound copy of "300" owned by one of the attendee of the movie event yesterday, the Spartans are drawned with the same strokes as how Sin City looked like, with ....ermm, clearly outlined rendition of their private parts.

Watch this movie for the 2nd time today. Still enjoyable! thumbup.gif 3rd time?!

Still enjoyable, trust me. You will get the subtleties previously overwhelmed by the visuals onscreen like the narrating voice of Dilios, and you will get their names better. Ephialtes, Queen Gorgo, Theron, Stelios, Astinos, Thermopylae, Plataea, Arcadians. Leonidas's son is played by the director's son i believe, same surname. Did anyone notice the Spartans advance by rank, one row does the pushing and thrusting, then when more waves advances too close, the second rom comes forward and drop their shields to protect their previously exposed comrades? Very efficient. Also notice the "phalanx" formation they made during the second wave of the first battle, as well as the "turtle dome" during the last confrontation with Xerxes. So, Vivaldi, yes, watch it the third time. tongue.gif

More trivias on the movie, the guys at Boxofficemojo.com forum has this dug up:-

EXCLUSIVE EARLY 3-DAY ESTIMATES: '300' with $60 million; Spartan War Epic 3rd Biggest R-Rated Opening and 2nd Biggest March Opening; 'Hogs' Still Strong with $27.8 million
by Steve Mason
March 10, 2007

The weekend belongs to Zack Snyder's 300 (Warner Bros), which is fulfilling the months of internet buzz, marketing hype and fanboy anticipation with a $25.5 million Friday and an estimated 3-day gross of $60 million.

The bloody, violent, over-the-top, R-rated war picture adapted from Frank Miller's graphic novel got an early start with 12:01am screenings across the country including IMAX locations. My sources have indicated that 300 broke the midnight IMAX box office record set by last Summer's Superman Returns, another Warner Bros. release. 300 will almost certainly smash the opening weekend IMAX record of $5 million set by Superman Returns. Batman Begins, also from Warner Bros., is the 3rd best IMAX opening weekend with $3.1 million.

If my numbers for this Spartan war epic hold, this will be the all-time 3rd best opening weekend for an R-rated movie:

1. The Matrix Reloaded - $91.7 million
2. Passion of the Christ - $83.8 million
3. 300 - $60 million
4. Hannibal - $58 million
5. 8 Mile - $51.2 million

By Monday morning, 300 will also be the all-time 2nd best opening weekend for a March release trailing only Ice Age 2: The Meltdown:

1. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown - $68 million
2. 300 - $60 million
3. Ice Age - $46.3 million

The poorly-reviewed Wild Hogs (Buena Vista) will take the #2 spot with $7.5 million on Friday. That should translate to a far better-than-expected 3-day of $27.8 million. Bridge To Terabithia (Buena Vista) added $1.7 million to kick-off the weekend and will have banked another $7.4 million by Monday morning good for 3rd. Ghost Rider (Sony) will finish 4th with an estimated $7 million after the Nicolas Cage vehicle picked up $1.9 million Friday. Meanwhile, David Fincher's Zodiac (Paramount) continues to disappoint with $1.9 million Friday and an estimated $6.6 million for the weekend, which is enough to round out the Top 5.

EXCLUSIVE FANTASYMOGULS.COM EARLY FRIDAY ESTIMATES
1. 300 (Warner Bros) - $25.5 million
2. Wild Hogs (Buena Vista) - $ 7.5 million
3. Ghost Rider (Sony) - $2 million
4. Zodiac (Paramount) 1.9
5. Bridge To Terabithia (Buena Vista) - $1.7
6. Norbit (Paramount) - $1.3 million
7. Music & Lyrics (Warner Bros) - $1.2 million
8. The Number 23 (New Line) - $1.1 million
9. Black Snake Moan (Paramount Vantage) - $1 million
10. Breach (Universal) - $700,000

EXCLUSIVE FANTASYMOGULS.COM EARLY 3-DAY ESTIMATES
1. 300 (Warner Bros) - $60 million
2. Wild Hogs (Buena Vista) - $27.8 million
3. Bridge To Terabithia (Buena Vista) - $7.4 million
4. Ghost Rider (Sony) - $7 million
5. Zodiac (Paramount) - $6.6 million
6. Norbit (Paramount) - $4.1 million
7. Music & Lyrics (Warner Bros) - $3.1 million
8. The Number 23 (New Line) - $3 million
9. Black Snake Moan (Paramount Vantage) - $2.6 million
10. Breach (Universal) - $1.6 million
Bear in mind, "300" is rated R in the States, so it is not meant to break boxoffice records like family-friendly and U-to-PG13 movies like Pirates of Carribean. And also "300" had just its first day opening yesterday.

Less talk, more fight! This is Sparta! tongue.gif God of War II in less than 3 days, and this movie should definitely explain why Kratos in GOW2 is so damn badass!

What were those makciks expecting, Huss? A campfire movie with half-naked men singing and dancing around a bonfire? Wrong movie! Plus they saw the movie trailer already, and they should have avoided it if they are going to shield their eyes from watching it. For the first time, i have faith in our censorship board to grow out of their protective shell and relax the guntings and consider functional and artistic values of a movie. Kudos to the censorship board for finally growing up!

The Persian pondans right, there is this beast with head of a goat, everyone in the cinema halls were muttering "WTF is that!?", some laughed at the WTF-ness of that scene. I have no complaints on th sensuous dancers. drool.gif They did censor the "lesbian"doing 69 on each other though.....gonna watch THAT in Adelaide! laugh.gif

Just got back from the movie. HOLY SHIT

I intended on going to the 10:15 showing, and got there around 9:35. Once I drove past the window I could see a massive amount of people in line. At first I thought they were there to see something else, but rather quickly it became clear that the majority of the crowd was there for 300. The 10:15 showing was sold out, so I had to go to the 10:45. The crowd was huge, and luckily I was first in line to pick the best seat (middle seat in the middle row=you see everything). People laughed at the funny lines and actually cheered during some scenes (like the one where the queen shows her Spartan side, with a sword). On a funny note...there was this guy sniffing throughout some of the movie. It was mainly audable during the more quiet, emotional parts of the movie. Because of this it sounded like he was crying or something. So out of nowhere this dude right behind me yells out.

Dude: NO CRYING ALLOWED IN SPARTA
Sniffling Guy: I have a cold mother****er
Dude: THIS IS MADNESS

laugh.gif
Stringfellow's own note: This is the perfect timing for that sniffing dude to scream "This is Sparta!" laugh.gif

I felt the movie was amazing. I went in expecting an extremely gratuitous, over the top epic and that's what I got. What I was most surpised at was that the acting and dialogue wasn't nearly as cheesy as I expected. Like many fantasty epics, the movie is full of various speeches, and all of them are great.

But I didn't go to the movie for speeches, I went for the AWESOME-ness. The action was simply amazing. I loved the slow motion mechanics used throughout the movie. All of the battles are not slow motion, though: there is a nice mix between some more shaky cam sequences and some slow motion sequences; clearly the slow motion sequences are featured more. The battle with the Immortals (and that giant thing) was truly the highlight of the action for me. Perfectly executed

I never read the graphic novel so I don't know how truthful it was to the source material, but I found it to be rather truthful to various facets of history. The way the Spartans fought was pretty damn accurate, and seeing it brought to life was quite impressive.

Overall I found the movie to be just what I was looking for: a BADASS kick in the balls. The action was tight, the story was badass, and the music was very good. Perhaps my only complaints outside of the dramatic acting (which I anticipated) was the lack of character development. I love watching epics like Jason and the Argonauts or Clash of the Titans, and these movies usually introduce a cast of characters who you can't help but root for and hope they survive. While this was done with a couple characters to a certain degree, I would have liked to see more.

Hot damn, i wish that had happened, then a real life enactment of everyone in the cinema hall screaming "This is SPARTA!" would had happened! laugh.gif

One thing i am disappointed about Malaysian audience is that we are not culturally inclined to express ourselves openly. Overseas audiences are not shy to show their appreciation of great movies by clapping, cheering and reacting to emotive scenes.

The Persian pondan brough visions of Ra and the other Pharaohs from StarGate though. Same shaven eyelashes, and makeups, as well as the obviously deepened baritone voice. tongue.gif

The most i see Malaysians do is laugh, that's considered normal and acceptable. Sigh......

On other things, congratulations on your Def Jam Icon celeb status, bukan selalu dapat Malaysian hanging on to the top spot of any leaderboard. thumbup.gif

Funny when you think of it though. How would the censorship board know if the lesbian scene would offend viewers here, if viewers here dont know what a lesbian scene is? And if viewers here do KNOW what lesbian scenes are, obviously you dont HAVE to censor it out, since we are familiar with what a lesbian scene is anyway, and not particularly disturbed by it, isnt it? Get the logic?

WE are obviously still children to the eyes of the government, hence why we are treated this way.
