Yea...the cost difference is significanr. For me, i feel it's worth it coz I believe it's always good to have extra space and not having to worry about insufficient storage.
Good luck on yr decision!
Haha i used to go around snapping fotos with my 3rd gen Ipad

Now i do it on my iphone and the fotos go to my ipad

Yea its a good feeling to have worry free storage IMHO.
Most likely will be heading for 32gb due to my usage of iPad are games and watching youtube videos.
Perhaps I should research on how big the games are, as I will easily install around 10++ games.
Thanks anyhow for your replies and sharing.

if you are mainly just to consume content directly Internet and not to store them inside the iPad for offline viewing.
Yes, 32GB should be sufficient even with gaming possible.
iPad usage and iPhone usage are quite different. iPhone you may likely to take a lot of photos or 4k videos, which it will certainly take up a lot of space overtime.
iPad are mostly for media consumption which if you do not store media files on it. no problem for 32gb.
i have 128gb ipad mini 2 and i put quite a lot of videos inside just to fill up the storage but i noticed that i hardly watch them again.
so end up it is a waste of storage since most of the time those contents are idle.
if let me choose again, 64gb (if available), it will be the best storage size for my iPad.
while for my iphone, if there is 512gb, i may even choose to go for it, since i really take a lot of photos.
True, I have my own external HDD of 500gb and i stored nearly 300gb of movies, the thing is i hardly search back to watch the movies over and over again.
For photos, me personally have a mirrorless camera hence i seldom take as well.
Worst case, gonna purchase iCloud?
