Nowadays appliances have built-in obsolescence - few years only, kaput!

Kalau susah rosak, nanti tak leh jual banyak sebab semua peti sejuk elok.  laugh.gif

Not valid also... but yea la. Mainly people change new frisge is because of volume.
QUOTE(BS8110 @ Mar 19 2017, 08:09 AM)
Their product was solid, my mum's standing fan is almost 40 years but still working good.

Nowadays even Panasonic product is not as long lasting as National.

Equipment of yesteryear seems built to last for generations, equipment of nowadays only at least to last till the end of warranty period maximum.

yea esp computer wtf

Now electronic n electrical appliances have end of life circle

Newer models with never spare parts that can fit older model

That is to make consumers to buy new instead of repairing it

Wanna hear something funny. My grandfather's house ha d alot of old stuff. One of the few was those old grandfather clock which u need to wind. Lasted I think 60 or 70 years d in the house. Some antiaue collector came and offer to buy him a brand new shiny battery clock so he exchanged. Therr was this green colour ceramic vase with dragon embossed on it. Made in china one. He bought when he was younger, I think 1913 or 1914, the fella bought for rm15. Gosh all the antiques he sold for cheap. Grrrr....i feel like the fella cheated him only
*
people old liao, no patience to wind it everytime, people wanna offer problem free clock that just need change battery once a while, why not at least no need go shopping mall buy himself? he don't need money, keep the old clock also no use, also 60-70 years, anyone also feel bored about it.

think from different perspective.

there was a wooden coo-coo clock, when alarm time the bird or chicken will come out few times, that one also quite old, but also 1 time go back see no more liao replace with normal round clock.

is the advertising slogan for Japanese brand "National" in the 1950s before changing their name to "Panasonic" in 2003.

Can you spot the advertisement here in Batu Road (now Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman) in 1959?

I can't find any advertisements in BM. Perhaps the language is not popular yet.

That arabic script is actually Bahasa Melayu. Back then Bahasa Melayu written in Jawi (form of arabic script) was more popular. Even non-malays also can read/write in Jawi.

No lar. Business not good they merged all their purchases. If business was good, the national factory would still be in Malaysia at Sg Way FTZ here in PJ,
