noob qustion here.. why here many people dont like ACER and COMPAQ???
*
the answer here is quite simple actually... y people dont go for laptop brands like acer or compaq???

1.lousy costumer service
2.lousy quality for the low price especially for acer... you basically get what you pay for
3.based on all the comments on other posts in this topic... there is basically no need to explain further...tongue.gif

to all the laptop experts, sifu or anyone else.

im thinking of getting a new laptop soon and couldnt figure out which 1 to go for,
i'll be using the laptop for some uni work , movies(drama) , surfing and mayb a little
bit of online gaming in the future.

my budget would be around 5k and i prefer toshiba or fujitsu.
the thing that concern me the most is the international warranty, the life span of the lap top?

anyone can reckon me any model please. thanks!
*
okay just a few comments here... if you are going just to do everyday applications like you have mentioned.... i think there is no need to spend 5k on a laptop unless you are going for heavy use with it(programming, heavy 3d editing, heavy gaming.. etc..)my recommendation is toshiba Satelite line of laptops or protege also can... i woudnt recommend any fujitsu laptops cos i dont really know anyone else who uses it so i dont know to comment about it....

i had tried toshiba, compaq, dell and apple laptop.

For compaq, i think is not really worth it since it cant last that long. It got electric shock when charging... that is really annoying!

For toshiba, what i say is really great! my previous tosiba is p4 and i bought it 6 years ago and it still functioning! everything work just fine except the harddisk get bad sector.. i think it is fair enough since i do a lot of torrent and it often on 24/7. I just purchase my M series to replace my old laptop, and after 2 years, it work with no problem! everything is just work so fine... I even upgrade the ram to 2gb!

For macbook, i think is quite pricy! but i really like the design of the macbook! i think it worth the price! I bought 1 for my sister years ago and there is no problem at all. Recently i just purchase another 1 for my gf as well.. now i definitely a mac hardcock!

for dell... i think we can get a very good spec with low price! this is definitely a must go brand for student! My dad use it for autocad and i think it just work well!

anyway, if i have the chance to change my laptop, i think i will get the macbook pro! i think the spec of the macbook pro is really worth the price! you cant get the same spec and same price if you get it from dell..

The newer models don't have this, I think. I would've felt the shock while installing XP for people, but I didn't feel it like the ones before.

One model I like to recommend to people is V3606TX. It comes with C2D, Lightscribe, Nvidia 8400, has a good 3DMark score and it's under 3 grand.

A more worthwhile model would be Dell 1520. Costlier, but still under 4000, even after you've packed in all the gaming upgrades.
