Looking for a laptop which catters my needs @ some of basic specs:

- light weight, < 2kg

- long batt life (can anyone tell eithercentrino or duo core performs better in terms of power consuming?)

- larger screen, the better (standard 12.1" at this weight, but 14" is more preferred!)

- 1GB preferrably (512MB will do too), Intel GMA 900 will do, 60GB+

- integrated bluetooth

- most importantly, priced below RM4500 smile.gif

Any specific brands that you guys had in mind? I know it's a tight budget, but in case you guys knows any models available.

Btw, HP Presario B2814 seems to have attractive specs and price.. but I couldnt get any info online, wondering if it only available in M'sia? Any reviews or feedbacks on this laptop?

Thanks!

I'm currently using a Toshiba Qosmio... but I guess its not really for the user that wants portability.. but seriously .. .it's got DA POWER! biggrin.gif

Battery life ain't nothing to shout about either, about 2.5 hours on the standard battery and about 4 on the 12 cell one...

But hey, with a 17" WUXGA screen, I'm not complaining

Guys, to be honest, Dell (Latitude) and IBM Lenovo Thinkpad are the best out there. If you got extra cash, go for Vaio.

I got 2 Acer, but both LCD already cracked only after few months. Cost me RM1300 to fix 1 LCD (the super bright type).

Yes, i dropped them but i could not understand how come they are so easy to crack. Quite crazy.

I will never buy Acer again. Never.

Now i am using Dell Latitude. It is a rock solid stable hardware. Never hang !!!!!

One more complaint about Acer's low quality. Left click under touch pad for my both Acer are now loose, not tight anymore. Just waiting time to be broken. It happened just after 1 month using it during office hours.

IBM Notebooks got the best touch pad click buttons. Still tough like new even after 7 years of daily usage since 1998.

I am VAIO and DELL user. I will never turn to other brand ( I am quite doubt on Lenovo also). Vaio is very slim, high class and worth every cents you pay for it.

Lenovo still selling Thinkpads under IBM name because they have the rights to the name for another four years or so. Also, the support and design of Thinkpads are done by the same team (Lenovo just bought the whole dept.) Thinkpad has a very good reputation so why not use it to boost sales? Plus, IBM still does give technical support for them.

budget type laptop will be from dell...

but i personally prefer Asus laptops..
been serving me fine... especially the M2N generation laptops..
best i can get with that price.. and also.. it comes in Asus mainboards..
reliable and stable..

never once fail on me.. that i can guarantee.. not even a single crash..
and i go on gaming and heavy engineering applications...
