Not all tech stocks are the same... but if one or two of the big leaders starts declining.... ahem...

Here's the current live chart of MPI as of midday...

For MPI, I would place it on the 'ready to sell' list.... yup... if I have ... I better squat by the screen and if it goes below 36, it would be time for me to bugger off.
Yes, there are some signs that perhaps it's a good time time to sell for a really nice profit...
not 100% conclusive.... but .............

Definitely good enough, the current valuation makes me dizzy.
While the music is still play, may be a good time to secure a chair.

I agree with by sell-buy relationship in learning when to sell and secure your profit is important.
Like poker players say, don't count your money while still sitting at the table.

Selling is a window. The worse your buying position, the smaller the sell window. The worst buying position means there is no sell window at all.
The best buying position means the sell window is permanently open for you.

Aiyo, look at that steep climb. Almost like a wall.
You gonna need oxygen tanks at that altitude. My own legs have no energy to climb that high.

The one that surprised me most was Mr DIY.
Never expected it to go that high. My calculated fair value was way lower.

Retailers literally snapping up the gloves, Serba and Mr T among others.
The local institutions doing almost the inverse of the Retailers. Fund managers probably smell opportunity.

Mr T can be a sensitive subject. An increase in retailer holdings is bad new for price stability.
Comment any more on it and people will start accusing me as being part of the institution 'shortie' gang.

I sold. A combination of a sinking market and expected less than stellar QR meant I chose to protect the capital & profits by going to cash for the period.
In terms of the QR being the lowest in the past 4Q, I was right. In terms of how the price would react, I was wrong.

Just Bursa things I guess.

Okay.

I was looking inside... property has now contributed more than its manufacturing...

Remember this issue we talked about?

Anyway, if this keeps continuing.. surely then it has to be reclassified as a property stock. ( harlo MSing Mark II?)

and then... as you know, for property stock valuations..yardstick such as NTA...

and Scientex NTA rather much lower.... wink.gif
*
Yes we did.

In terms of continued growth, I suspect there isn't much headroom for growth in their traditional plastics segment. This means in the pursuit of growth, expansion into a different sector becomes a bigger priority and this is where property is taking over. Property has better margins anyway. It's the conglomerate route.

The price jump continues to puzzle me though. With the weaker set of numbers we'd usually expect the price to tank a bit but the opposite happened.

The problem is property counters don't carry valuations well above its assets value...in this sense, the current valuation for the stock is crazy... for me, I would have exercise extreme caution if I hold the stock...

Best way to say I agree is me exiting last week.
Have trimmed down my Bursa holdings by a fair margin. When talking about valuations, this is up there but I feel the Tech counters take the cake.

I actually saw the buys in my market feed and felt like it was more to try create some tailwinds to arrest the price slide. May have helped in the short term.

But Harta is the intriguing case for me so I just noted the Top Glove news and moved on. I'm looking at how far Harta is going to slide.

The previous time revenue posted such numbers were back in 2017, so that's where I started for my valuation exercise. The balance sheet looks pretty intact for a company whose shares is tanking this hard. Based on the fundamentals, it looks like some event is impacting its future revenue runway, more so than other companies.

Valuation wise, we are close. I've been thinking, and realize that thinking is where trouble starts for me.

I missed it completely when price crash started and only saw it a day or two late. What was the piece of news that started the fall?

A 30x PE is indeed nuts. Unless Harta had pivoted to become a Tech company instead.

Being oversold is a convenient excuse to jump in to buy, but that is all sentiment. Like you said, there is no catalyst on the horizon. Gloves as a whole seems flat. Not sure about Harta's other revenue lines or products they have that can reinforce the bottom line. That's probably homework for this weekend.

Harta is not in my watch list so I don't have any notes against it for now. Focus on the "dark ages" from 2013 - 2017 and how they did would be the lens of which I view their current fall.

25x is also crazy for the industry.
Like already decided want to put a certain sticker price on it but no justification, so end up pulling the PE as the only way. biggrin.gif
