Hi Andre

Yes. The DAC unit is designed to be used as a dual purpose unit. There is a line out mode.

hi paletteLIFE, unfortunately we do not have resellers or distributors at the moment, so a demo is not possible for now.

We do have some Malaysians with the international models, perhaps if you know some of them you could ask them for a demo.

Thanks.

Hi, just wondering how to use this with smart phone? Just connect through otg? Do we need external power source? And ak4490 is capable decode up to dsd but it is only 24bit96khz in ud125, what is the reason behind. Just several questions before making order, thanks.

Our spec guide requires that the Android OTG to minimally have at least 150mA current output.

The UD125 is designed to be extremely powerful, being able to cater to the most sensitive IEMs and very demanding big headphones. We would still suggest you use an external power source by using a splitter to get the maximum benefit from it.

The UD125 is designed around the UAC1.0 standard. If we were to go the DSD route, we would need the UAC2.0 chips which requires very cumbersome drivers. (Kinda defeats the purpose of the UD125)

The UAC2.0 chips will also come at a significantly higher cost. The Ak4490 while is DSD-able, is not budget friendly when designed with DSD in mind. We do believe that the PCM standard is still very robust and high quality, and that the UAC1.0 is more than sufficient for the UD125 class dac/amp.

Hi Stephen!

It is exactly the same build, with some MOQ-required perks. (such as custom pouch colors and different case design)

EDIT: The difference is mainly aesthetic. This is part of our celebratory effort to return to our roots. (We started off selling at Lowyat Forums)

The international build will remain our staple.

My only concern of the UD125 is it is using Mini USB instead of the currently far more popular Micro USB or the more common printer USB cable, it is not a big deal but I believe it will be easier for user to find replacement cable than the Mini USB cable, it is not a big deal at all but I prefer the Micro USB cable. The volume controller (the toggle) is a little hard to adjust since it is not extrude enough to the outside and my finger is quite big in size, again, it is not a big deal especially when it sell so cheap.

u will fix that or not?

Hi salimbest83

The main reason we use the mini USB standard is primarily because considering the timeline this was designed, similarly classed DACs are still on the Mini USB. (and similarly priced action cameras are on it as well)

In our experience as well, the Mini USB is a little more durable than the Micro USB.

There will definitely be changes for the future UD130. We will be putting in more tests to gauge for the best possible USB options in the future.

Don't be worried about the Mini USB cable replacement. The usb cable that is bundled with the UD125 has been proven to be very robust and good. Replacements are plentiful from our side (and at a very cheap price).

As for the VC, the reason why it is mostly flushed with the panel is for durability concerns. It's primarily a trade of between ease of toggling durability.

Thanks for the feedback though. We will be taking all these into consideration for our future iterations.

there is only one button to control volume and change setting, have to visually check the colour of led light to know the setting change. the model is very light weight and it comes bare unit inside the pouch with no manual.

Thank you for your feedback.

The manual is not included because we firmly believe in going the green route.

The manual pdf can be found on our UD125 website:

Cool! Instead of toggle, I think that a button (with colour LED display) for filter selection will be more appreciated. Same goes to volume control. Just my point of view, haven't got in touch with the unit even. laugh.gif

Any info on the exclusive design pattern and what is the changes compare to the conventional version? Is it a complete new design on the shape of the casing or just alter some printing (and color) on the casing?

The casing used is the same. There will be a one-time-only design for this case. We will put out more information regarding this soon.

yep, unfortunately that's the downsides of doing bulks these days. We understand that most people would prefer to get ready stocks.

That's why we're pushing hard for a production run that'll include populated units for this bulk.

Certain MOQ related raw materials can be done at a later time.

Any chance I can bypass the amp and purely use the DAC only?
I've been using your previous UD100 and UD120 on my Klipsch speakers and since the speaker is already amped, I'm worried the double amping might be an issue.

What is the closing date for your bulk?

Looking forward to your advise and reply.

Filter Selection
The UD125 offers 4 filter settings to allow for personalization of sound:

1. D.SHARP (Short Delay Sharp Roll Off)
a. Default
b. Color: NONE

2. S.SLOW (Short Delay Slow Roll Off)
a. Color: RED

3. SLOW (Short Roll Off)
a. Color: BLUE

4. SHARP (Sharp Roll Off)
a. Color: PURPLE

Would like to know the description of the different filters in a more layman term.
Is there any word suitable for different filters? Warm? Clear? Vocal?
For example,
None: Neutral
Red: ?
Blue: ?
Purple: ?

Appreciate that smile.gif

There's no "double amping" with the UD125.

The design is "quite clever" in the sense that we've managed to integrate both the buffering output stage with the "amplifier".

What we basically did was to use an extremely powerful amplifier to act both as the output Diff to SE Stage and the Amplifier itself. So there's no "double amping" in the traditional sense.

Just push volume button to the max and it'll bypass the internal attenuation and thus becomes a pure line out.

Sorry for the delayed response.

Let's see, as a disclaimer, our philosophy is that while objective measurements can be made in real life, the perception of quality is still very much dependent on the user's experience due to the fact that our ears and ear canals have very different texture and thus the brain perceives sound quite differently. Some filters may sound warm to you but it may in fact sound bright to another.

The AK4490 as we know it contains four different filters, two traditional filters and two modern filters. These filters act as a passband digital "filter" to only theoretically allow frequencies you use to be produced post conversion.

The more "aggressive" the filter, the less frequencies it allows to be produced. You don't want anything that you can't hear as they may be errors or noises. This is why a good digital filter is important for DACs.

However, life is also not that simple, aggressive filters create some other issues by itself, they would often generate new errors by themselves so a delicate balance is required.

These four filter settings are heavily based on the "aggressiveness" of the filters.

NONE - Delay Sharp (Modern)
RED - Short Slow (Modern)
BLUE - Slow (Traditional)
PURPLE - Sharp (Traditional)

In terms of aggressiveness (from most aggressive to most sluggish)

NONE > PURPLE > RED > BLUE

In other words, the more aggressive filters are better at making sure that only audio frequencies are being generated through out.

From a technical stand point, the "modern" filters are better for their intended purposes. Both modern filters theoretically have less errors comparing to their traditional counterparts.

It's really up to you to decide which one fit your particular system the best. For all its worth, we think they are all great and it's even better that you as a user get to decide which one's really for you.

When in doubt, put default laugh.gif
My plan is, to enjoy the default setting first for fairly long hours, then try others in descending aggression order.

However, I still have a question. What colour of light is on when it is at line out mode?
Is D.SHARP (Short Delay Sharp Roll Off) representing the line out mode?

No worries smile.gif We're currently cleaning up the list so we can better publish it so that everyone can double check their placement.

On the other hand guys, if we cannot reach the desired MOQ, we were thinking of going with it either way. However the downside to this is that there will not be an exclusive one time only casing design. We'll still be able to get you guys the pouch colors you want though wink.gif

Hi would like to inquire:

1. You previously mentioned earlier that you suggest to use an external power source by using a splitter to get the maximum benefit from it, does this apply when listening through a PC/laptop?

2. I have a pair of planar magnetic headphones (Hifiman HE-400i), it has a 35Ω - 93dB SPL/mW spec which seems very low impedance on paper, but I'm told it requires a ton of power to drive them right, specifically more current than voltage.

At a listening volume sample of 120dB SPL it needs 4.19 Vrms (voltage) x 119.71 mA (current) = 500 mW to power them.
I listen at usually no more than 90-115dB which needs about 2.36 Vrms x 67.43 mA = 159 mW (115dB volume).

Will the UD125 at 350mW output be able to drive them well? Sorry, I probably left out some other technical specs, I'm not an electrical engineer and there's hardly any audio gear reviews/sites that explain about how voltage/current work on amps to headphones

Any advice is appreciated.

cheers

BlueDAC from CEtrance, this is so good! It also uses AKM4490, provided with wireless solution.
However, the price is at least four times higher than UD125!

When you use Bluetooth, you no need use dac already. Most of the details are lost in the compression and decompression.

Besides all these crowd funding really know how to play mind games. They will talk until it's really good but end product is usually face palm.

Sorry for the late reply, it's tax season and the holidays T_T

1. This only applies if you decide to drive it from your supported phones/tablets, otherwise the PC/Laptop will provide more than enough power for the intended use case.
2. Your calculations are correct.
3. It'll be sufficient. You shouldn't listen to music at high volume levels anyway as you'll most likely hit your "ears'" internal clipping.

Wireless is definitely something in our project line ups, though as of current R&D is primarily focused on getting the next high end DAC out.

The thing with wireless is, you're going to trade off some of the more "audiophile-ish" specs that most people want, given what is currently available in the market.

List has been updated as of 29/4/2017

Some updates:
1. I'll put up the list tonight before I go to bed, but I'll most likely be removing the email column (for those who identify themselves with your email, hopefully the name is close enough that you know who to look for. This is to protect your privacy to be honest. Also part of the reason why we didn't want to put the list up so early.

2. Raw materials have arrived. We'll push for a production run sometime next week even if we did not reach our bulk numbers. This would ensure that production will still be carried on at a fast pace.

3. Most important point is this, should we not reach the required bulk number by a very soon cutoff date which would be set, we propose that the bulk will still be carried on albeit minus the custom casing. (Need ya'll's input on this, feel free to reply to this thread)

Thanks.

Update 4/5/2017:

The raw materials are currently with our assembly plant and the production will start shortly. So seeing we are incapable of reaching our desired MOQ for the custom casing, we'd like to propose that we go with earlier proposed package (lower price and custom pouch). If this is okay with ya'll we'll start collecting deposits for the actual run. This also means that the casing will use back the international version which we already have a supply of.

Thanks.

Guys I recently found an e-vendor on Taobao who sells custom Mini USB - USB A cables for mechanical keyboards. The cables are braided have gold plated plugs. They come in a variety of colours and have 0.5m, 1m, 1.5m lengths available. I bought them through Ezbuy hopefully it'll arrive by the time we receive our UD125..

check it out

Great suggestion! Is there any artwork/design that you are following?

srry late reply. I used to do design so very into all things design on all principles (interior/architecture, graphic, multimedia etc etc), I would go to galleries/conventions or events & go through design blogs to keep up. I follow too many designers so I can't really name any from the top of my head sweat.gif .

I recently went to a local t-shirt/street wear design festival called Tempatan Fest. They were featuring product design from local designers from sunglasses, t-shirts, leather goods, vape products and general street wear design & I must say, local designers have come a long way. Their designs are sophisticated and some outright cool. I figured some of them are fellow audiophiles too but maybe don't really know the existence of Stoner Acoustics. I personally believe they can give some input be it the external graphics, to the overall aesthetics or product design, or provide nice graphics for logos, stationary, promotional videos and maybe even redesign Stoner's website (lol no offence btw)...

anyway thats just my 2 sen

Guys, we're sorting out the final list and we'll start to collect deposits soon.

The production has already started on our side (the raw pcb assembly) so hopefully if nothing goes wrong we'll be seeing lead times faster than 2-3 months time.

Thanks. Stay tuned.

How long for the production to complete and what is the final price?
If this could be completed around a month, then I prefer just transfer the total rather than doing it again.

The final price is RM 299 as stated in the first post.

Production takes about 2-3 months after deposit collection as stated in the first post. However optimistically since we have started assembly already we may most likely see a significant reduction in lead time, though to be safe we would not want to promise everyone on that.

Hi guys, a bit of update here.

Some of you may have opted to pay in full, in which this case under the following (can be found in first post)

Product Information:
1. Bulk Price at RM299 per unit
2. Shipping and Handling at RM10 per unit
3. Upon reaching MOQ, sourcing and production will take around 2-3 working months

The total full amount would be RM299+RM10 = RM 309

Do take note.

The notations will be DEPOSIT, FULL, and FULL+SHIPPING. Again this can be found in the bulk list hosted in the Google Sheets.

You'll get it immediately.

Assembly has already started, so there shouldn't be any delays. *touch wood*

We're really only waiting for all the deposits to be paid at this point, all the heavy dependencies have already been resolved.

Hey guys,

Concerning the firmware, we have a special consideration for you guys. We have received some feedback in regards to how we should illuminate the LED when we trigger the volume control.

It's not that difficult to implement this, we can blink either the red/blue for each respective vol+ and vol- once to signify a change.

Let us know if this is a feature you want and we can add this feature to your very setup wink.gif

For DAC line out, is it without LED signal? Or in Red?

To me, I don't think it matters or not. Volume change can be observed with ears.

What I would be concerned with is the line out mode. I assume that whenever the dac boot, it will default to a certain volume i.e. 50%. Instead of blinking led, can we have static light to state line out mode instead of blinking the led 3 times. Just to prevent in case someone went to touch the volume setting and could result in a blown amp.

We are thinking of having separate firmware builds for those who want that feature (only for this special bulk though keke, international builds won't have those customization)

The DAC Line Out will only be signified by the RED led blinking three times (as per default) upon reaching line out level (0 dB), this is because due to the filters taking up all the static LED display.

The DAC by default settings runs at a very low setting. If you want the default to be always at 50%, from our experience, if your earphones always needs to run at 80%, you'll spend a lot of time fiddling it again to the volume you desire, plus you will also lose ability to save your volume settings. The UD125 auto saves your volumes so that the next time it boots you go right back to where you were.

Unfortunately the static led (RED BLUE PURPLE) has all been taken up by the filter display. Using the static LED for other purposes means you won't be able to tell what filter you're currently on.

OR perhaps you would prefer the reverse? i.e. using blink led to display the filter setting.

How many color available other than red, blue and purple?
If the led is capable of showing more colors, then I would prefer the static led to show volume and different color blinking for filter rolling.
I think Volume indicator is more important as people might have headphones with different sensitivity,
the led could show current volume to the user, allowing them lowering the volume before put up their headphone which could help prevent ear blowing or headphone blowing. As we might forget to lower the volume to the safe level from the previous listening session.

The LED is a tri colored LED. technically there's only two leds in it, RED and BLUE, but you can turn on two colors to get Purple.

So in terms of states, you have 4 states, RED, BLUE, PURPLE and NONE.

There's actually no good way to show the current volume, as there are altogether 256 steps on each channel, unfortunately.

Great, we're going to put this particular feature under feature A in the list.

For those interested, we'll generate a build that has this feature. This feature is pretty much an "Add On" so it doesn't really interfere with the stock interface.

unfortunately we're using the stock REV A PCB so there is no additional control pins for a RGB led.

Besides, RGB Leds are REALLY expensive, especially at the volume we're purchasing at.

much preferably we receive deposits by end of this month, despite production has already started. We're okay with keeping some extra units in stock, but if you really want to secure your unit (so that it doesn't go to another purchaser after the bulk), a deposit would be much fairer to everyone.

Hey friends, just a quick update.

We'll be having our long vacation off (shutdown) from 25th May 2017 to 7th June 2017. As of now, all items have been secured.

We won't be supporting any tech/warranty related issues during this period, but we'll still be handling all the deposit payments for this bulk. So no worries, business as usual over here.

Thanks. Have a nice day ya'll.

Yep, thanks for the heads up.

We have not decided what feature B and C would be, but for now, Feature A will be the non-intrusive add on to illuminating volume toggles.

Yes you can, do take note however while that we have buffers for last minute buyers, after a certain number of units we are unable to guarantee items such as pouch colors. (You may not be able to get the color you want, BLACK colour is abundant however...)

For those who have already paid full for everything, we will be shipping the units out early once they are ready instead of one lump sum.

This will be a by first come first served basis. Hopefully ya'll get to enjoy the units much earlier.

28/06/2017 - The assembled units have arrived and the initial round of tests indicates that all is working properly. To accelerate process, we will be slowly rolling out shipment in a first come first served basis over the span of 1-2 working weeks. These can be tracked in the master purchase list located in this thread. We would like to kindly ask for your help to complete the full payment so we may ship the units out to you as soon as we can.

*
Is RM289 the amount one have to pay if he has previously paid the RM20 deposit.
Anyone in this thread can confirm this to me?
Thanks in advance.

We're glad you received the unit.

It's faster than expected because we went with the slow first come first served roll outs wink.gif

To be fair to other kind buyers and supporters who have supported our bulk, we only allocated very limited units for any last minute joiners. (less than 10) after that we're going back to the regular price again. (though pouch colors can still be a choice for Malaysians since we ordered extras at our expense)

We're going to have a localized pricing for Malaysians as well, this way ya'll don't get bogged down with the international paypal rates.

Finally, we're going for round 3 shipping, do check out the master list.

I just briefly tested it. It seem like there is distortion whenever I'm using 16 bit. Even the sound effect in Windows folder like clicking back and forward is distorted. Everything works fine with 24 bit.

Does it only work in 24bit?

Hi andrekua2

This does seem to be a very peculiar issue. Could you perhaps shoot us a pm regarding this and fill us up on the setup you're using?

The units are mainly tested with 16 bit and 44.1kHz, so it's out of the ordinary that 24 bit would work but 16 bit does not.

Thank you.

EDIT: From what we can tell, this seems to be more of a OS/software compatibility issue than the actual hardware itself.

Reorganize everything... tried it on 3 PCs.

PC1 (OFFICE) Core i5 4GB RAM Win7
PC2 (HOME) Core i3 3220 4GB RAM Win8.1 HD4850 GPU Edifier S2000 AKG K553 Pro
PC3 (HTPC) Q9650 2GB RAM Win8.1 HD4850 GPU Edifier S730 AKG K553 Pro

PC1 totally fail with 16bit. 24bit is much better but it does sound weird. Since I was using cheapo dell speaker with it, I cant really confirm if it is distorting when start playing mp3.

PC2 and PC3 both exhibit same problem. When you double click on the song to launch Foobar, it will distort. When it automatically next, it will also distort very badly (very strange that it will do that because if I press next song manually, it does not distort. Could be the crossfader or fade in/out setting that I just changed). Some mp3 just distort a bit while flac can distort 2-3seconds at worst. Loud sharp Bzzzzzzz or krakkkkkkk (since Im playing it quite loud anyway). I even tried changing to another mini usb cable from my WD Passport Ultra but same problem. Both my home PC are using good quality power supply, PC2 using Seasonic G650 while PC3 using Antec 550 (modular with bronze certification). Even when playing sound through the Sound Properties also crackling when reaching the end, so can sort of confirm not Foobar setting problem.

I still have a laptop that I havent tried with. Will consider formatting if I had the free time.

I also have this crackling problem when Im using the PC heavily while playing mp3 through Foobar+ASIO with my Xonar ST.

Update:

Bought my headphone with the dac to work and tried with another pc. Still have distortion. I thought three previous pc were all on 64 bit and try to see 32bit Win7 helps. Still got crackling.

Maybe I should sent them back for you to check on it? Should I record them and sent you the audio file first?

Hi Andre

Could you kindly send us an email or pm us so we may better help you out?

We could definitely offer you a one to one swap if it's a hardware problem. Your problem seems quite peculiar as it points to a software issue rather than a hardware issue.

EDIT: Software issue quite likely due to the fact these playback distortions seems like an issue with the buffers. Do you set them to a specific setting outside of the normal use?

Thanks.

Hi fellas, a bit of announcement.

For those in Sabah/Sarawak, RM14 will be the shipping instead of RM10.

We apologize for announcing this late, we totally overlooked it at the first place.

may i know what yr earphone u used with this unit? and what type of song's file? i test with mi pro HD using flac files . songs are one man's dream-yanni and The Poet And The Pendulum-Nightwish. Using phenom x4 pc( at office right now) and realtek hd audio. UD125 are plug direct usb to pc.

setup A, direct listening to audio jack using mi pro HD earphone.
setup B, mi pro HD to UD125( default setting) to pc USB.

can't really heard the difference with both setup. But unit are superb( upgrade from dac ud100 from stoner), no heard of any foreign sounds. (hissing or whatnot). oh, i use UPS and AVR to my PC. so no "dirty" current.

Awesome! My status was updated to "SHIPPED" hopefully it'll arrive by today or tomorrow;

I notice that there were other users that only paid the deposit, perhaps they were not notified that the units have arrived and awaiting for full payment before releasing to them.

I only found out about the status of this bulk through this thread; Perhaps if you could send them a PM to notify them to make full payment.

here teh update with my home rig and my audio rigs. b4 this i use ud100 , ud120 and my dt880 pro, but ud120 can't make FHD with surround audios plays smoothly.
Now, because i have dedicate amp to drive my 250ohm, I use amp to fine tune the vol. Just so u know my ear is late 30's old.The usd125 max vol.

My songs all in flac. Music genre consists , symphonic metal, hard rock, rock, pop alternative. My jazz genre is only by kenny G and yanni.

simple to says is, now my target is beyer t90 and beyer t1 2nd gen.

when i use ud100 song was clear mid, bass not too thumping and my ear not tiring hours listening. if u slow it down, sound so distance yet u feel calm . Now more clearer and bass thumping . But, the reality is i need more of amp and t1 2nd gen cos my ears can't keep up.

Oh! is clean and pure sounding. And all my rig is using AVR to filter dirty current.

Hey Stoner,

I just got my unit, its awesome. I can tell its much better than my laptop internal sound card and its runs out of the box on my Arch Linux system. But should I expect different sound effects if I change the color of the LED, because I am sure as hell I don't feel anything different if there's any. I'm using V-MODA Crossfade M-100.

In our opinion, the filters aren't suppose to sound vastly different from each other when the circuit is designed properly. Admittedly, we wanted the user to have access to some of the advance options we get to play with, so while some may not hear the difference, hopefully some others will find the fun in experimenting with it!

Thank you.

Well, I did switched around the filters and like you said, there are definitely subtle changes that I cant really tell with words but there are some difference in how they sound. For me, red and blue sounds more like what I used to hear from my Xonar albeit with less coloration and soundstage etc. No led feels a bit weird although I cant really tell what is the difference. Purple is more acceptable than no led. For me, red sounds the best with my Edifier S2000.

I kinda like it a little bit over my Xonar ST for the less coloration as well as the tighter bass. It is quite similar to my previous EMU0404 which was modded by Ijan, although I dislike the darkness brought forward by the 2132 opamp. This feel just right balance between bright and dark while still maintaining a healthy amount of bass.

If you're interested in some frequency plots, a german review of the UD125 has some measurements posted which showcases the differences between each filters.

http://kopfhoerer-lounge.blogspot.my/2017/...125-Review.html

This is just a one sided measurement however, depending on what you want to measure, there are a lot more plots to see but unfortunately we do not have that data at the moment.

hey guys, a little heads up.

We'll be transitioning to normal production soon around next week.

So the prices will be changed to retail price and we'll start offering units locally at a localized price.

A new thread will be opened here and the bulk thread will be officially closed once we sorted out the retail stuff. (International orders have opened)

Thanks for all of your support so far. notworthy.gif

Been testing mine over the weekend. I find that playing flac using vox or nightingale there is a clear distortion at the start of the song and at the end when you have no notes/singing. It sounds like breaking up of white noise. Like start stop in very quick succession is as if the streaming is not continuous. AAC AIFF MP3 has no issue. BUT......Audirvarna Plus plays it perfectly. So for MAC users out there take note of this initial findings.

How bad is the distortion? I use Vox with my Macbook to listen to Flacs too sad.gif. Just curious did you try using with Spotify as well?

It was disturbing but i noticed something weird. After using Aud+ I tried the VOX again and the problem seemed to go away. So this suggest that it was software related and Aud+ did something to the system. Now VOx plays without distortion. Another thing is that Aud+ is superior to Vox. There is a clear difference in sound quality between both. The vocals are clearer and everything has better separation and could even hear the small reverberations of the skin of the percussions . Used the Amber Rubarth album as a test. Well the Aud+ cost RM313 and there other is free. No free lunch.

Thank you. Please enjoy the product.

@all

Hey folks, I believe we have fulfilled most if not all of the orders. The rest who has paid deposit are already contacted early this week via email and private message. We will handle these leftovers privately.

We will be resuming normal operation soon and the unit will be sold at the previous retail price.

For support and issues, kindly email us at stoneracoustics@gmail.com as that will be our primary place for customer support.

Thanks again. This bulk wouldn't have been successful without your support.

Shout out to Stoner Acoustics for being responsive and professional!
My unit was connected to a (suspectable) faulty OTG cable, the unit was then no longer usable. I contacted them and they offer one to one exchange.

I just received the replacement unit today. I am using it now to listen with recabled Alessandro MS-1. It just sounds so flawless. Recently, I have listened to a very nice headphone, which is Master & Dynamic MH40 (USD$399). I would say UD125 + my headphone now, it sounds so great, at least same level to the M&D MH40 if not better.

Proud of this Malaysian product!

---------------------------

I am overwhelmed of how good it can drive Koss KSC-75. The handphone sounds so goosebumply good now!

Thank you for your warm support.

You are definitely using the UD125 the way we intended it to be by design, i.e. which is a compact all-in-one DAC Amp capable of being used both as a line out and as a powerful amplifier. Unfortunately our marketing message is not clear and strong enough and some customers are still under the impression that it functions primarily only as a DAC.

I guess the legacy of the UD series does leave a strong impression on the customers. (This is the first UD of the series that features a complete feature set)

350mW Low Impedance Output

How do you define as low impedance output? 16 ohm? 32 ohm? Can I get a list of mW vs ohm, it would be very helpful.

EDIT: I forgot to share this image I got during my search of more descriptive info on the filter sound effects we can get out of the AK4490.

I'm still wondering why I don't notice any sound changes if I change the filters, oh well. That's why I've decided to replace my M-100 with M1060 (still waiting for the shipment).

We do not have these plots readily available at the moment, but we may publish some of these specs in the near future.

One of the German Reviewers made a measurement and it is around 0.1 ohms from 0 to 20 KHz.

You aren't suppose to hear a "huge" difference from each filters. Most designers simply pick one and fixed it in the firmware so the DAC only runs on one filter. However we wanted the customers to have something nice to experiment and play around with.

You can see how the filters differ from each other if you do some measurements on an Analyzer, but chances are you might not be able to actually hear these subtle differences.

I forgot to replied that the replacement unit is working fine. No more distortion at the start nor ending of every song. I'm currently using it with my Edifier S730 since I don't really like it much when pairing it with Xonar Essence.

It just suits S730 better. Less sibilance, and when I'm using no led filter, the bass is less exaggerated. I get less Brrrrrr from the powerful sub. Also I don't have to deal with the stupid low volume whenever I'm watching movies with 5.1 sound. It just route beautifully instead of low vocal.

I might have like the red led with S2000 but with S730, I definitely prefer no led.
