Get my PR mid of last year after waited for almost a year.
For me, the main purpose of getting PR is for easier to secure a job in sg.
another reason is that job opportunities/earning power here is tiptop in SEA.
Just assumption, you will be able to cut short your retirement plan if you wish to retired back home by x3.
10-15 year of saving will be able to secure your retirement fund.
let's say you started 30yo by the age of 45yo will be enough, if you still cont to work that will be your bonus.

Do you really want to stay/live here for the rest of your life?

here is a tip from my very own experience.

apply jobs at job portals and search for offices located at Tuas / Jurong Island or anywhere remote/ulu.

companies situated at such places are quite far from town area but usually provides company transport.

cons
- far away from town
- need to wake up early
- if missed the company bus, need to take taxi to office (need to pay $$$ from own pocket)

pros
- sg citizen and pr usually will avoid to work at these places
- save money on transport (if stay near company bus pick up point)
- easier to be shortlisted for interview
good luck smile.gif

i already book ic collection without singpass o.o"
the collection just need ur new ic number and issue date to set apptment.

i heard from friend that 2fa (sms) cant be same for 2 singpass
*
Yes one PH n.o & Email can only associate with one Singpass account,
what you need to do is after you collected your IC, go to CPF or Singpass counter to update you details so that you will be able to use back the same phone number and email

The minimum monthly expenses
Take myself as an example similar to yours
Rental : S$700 (expensive! I know)
Food : <S$300
Transportation : <S$90
Daily Necessities : <S$90
Entertainment : <S$100
Monthly total expenses around S$1300 +-
You should be able to cut down on rental + entertainment, so S$1000 will do.

i dont drink & dont mind pasar food, but still i want single room bc i value my sleep time
thanks. how far ur place from office? why still got transportation cost?
*
Just to add on I am staying single room without landlord [freedom with a price]
BMW (Bus MRT Walk) is the norm in Singapore.
My company just few MRT stations away but cost me S$1.45 per trip.
(S$1.45x2) X 22working days = S$63.8 (still need to add Shopping & Outing transportation will be around >S$90 or even lesser)
My situation is rented a room before getting a job, so the location is not the most ideal but still within acceptable distance

If you stay near your workplace within walking distance + able to get a cheap room, you living cost should be able to keep around S$800-S$900

I am still ok...normal weekday 9-6. weekend 100% not working.
This alone ady enough make me lose my point to live in this planet.
Even make a lot money and saving, I start to lose my point of living.
Even the oversea vacation, business trip do not make me love my life more.

I found out that to make me feel alive is to make myself more busy even OT but that is totally lifeless.

Walking out the office building, in front of me is nice skyscraper view that light up beautiful during night time.
On the way going home by bus, I looking out the window and start to wonder what is the meaning of my existence in this planet...
*
Recently I do feel you ... especially after mygf returned back to work in Malaysia.....
with all the $ (just one $ because not much), when weekends come just feel like waiting for it to end so that will be able to resume to work on Monday.
This is crap live ..... bangwall.gif

For those who post negatively here, today Straits Times has a quote which is very timely:

"Change your thoughts and you change your world" - Norman Vincent Pearle -

Not just in S'pore but everywhere you go if you think like above, you see a lot of opportunities. If proactive enough, you'll network your way to success in no time...

Feel much better with all the encouragement!!

Most working class can afford to buy those item relatively easy due to the strong currency. Then end up grow dust laugh.gif and then found out why no money in bank one after working for so many years.

Hi guys, i am struggling between two options now.

I am drawing 8.5k MYR per month, work life balance, good boss, and friendly colleagues. (Got time to develop my apps and web-site, intent to start my own co. if there is a chance)

But recently, i got a SG job offering me 5.5k SGD, By the look of the director and the speed they process my job application. I think it will be a BIG NO work life balance + heavy workload.

I know the final decision is always lied on my hand but i would like to hear some opinions from the forumers here. Thank you.

*I am a IT programmer

(Got time to develop my apps and web-site, intent to start my own co. if there is a chance)
I think the above is the most important part, ultimately working for yourself is more challenging and the return is grater

there are also pointer out buy others, you will need friend and family around you if not, you will feel extremely sad in this little red dot

*
Please don't, you will need to sign a 2 years contract or more, avg. working hr per day is like 10-12 (after OT)
This is sad, please clear your mind before making any decision.

depends on position & Co. also. AFAIK banking front teller all get WP. even you previously SP/EP also downgrade. co. policy they said. i only know UOB & OCBC.
try to avoid that co. if you can. it got quite a bad record of working environment from what the officer told my GF.
$800 basic without OT is  rclxub.gif
and yeah, this kind of job has alot of OT and very long hour of OT. can you handle it?
i'll try to ask more info for you, but put it as your last priority.

simple calculation of OT rate/hr based on $800 : [800/26days/8hr] x 1.5 = $5.76 per hr.
1700-800 = $900 OT / $5.76 = 156 hrs of OT / 26days = additonal 6 WHrs per day = 14 WHrs per day (15hrs including lunch)

This is a shitty job that why very hard to hire, local definitely not going to take it.
They only want young and fresh, easier to control and can pay less,
They are scouting mostly Malaysian especially Sarawakian and Sabahan.
