Not necessarily good. While some companies included 17% at the get go, if you suddenly become PR, your salary is actually "downgraded", while the total compensation remains unchanged.

Example:
Before PR - Your salary $5,000.
After PR - Your salary is now $4150. Employer contributes &850 (17%). Total compensation still $5,000.

So when you want to jump to another company next time, do you put your salary as $5,000 or your new "salary" of $4,150 , after converting to PR ?

We both know this will affect your next pay.

?? If you are a PR, and you are negotiating with the employers, the expected salary you stated will be the base pay, not the gross. Everyone knows it, it is the norm.

The employer side will consider about the gross expenses after you stated your expected salary, nothing to do with you.

Also if you know you are being overpaid for your current position and experience level, or on the high side in the market, you can consider revealing your salary. They have to match it or stop trying.

I see where the confusion is now, my bad. When I said base pay, that is BEFORE cpf deductions, ie. = gross pay. We were arguing about the same thing

The employer will consider things differently by calculating the gross expenses, ie. +17% for PR

I simply showed one example (completed with prove of offer letter) where they won't be paying 17% more. Personally I have never experienced this, i got paid more after I convert to PR

if a Singapore PR resigns and moves back to MY indefinitely, what do you need to take note on?

I assume you will have to update government and bank on your residential address, anything else?

if a couple , one working in MY, one working in SG and is PR.

They plan to move in together, so one will have to give up their job temporarily. Would you give up a RM6,500 job, or the job with SGD 4800 + AWS ?

why and why not?

To be honest, RM7,500 can live very comfortably in MY. tempting..

true, so let me put it this way, if no family ties or career consideration. Which would you personally pick, RM7.5k or SGD4k? Considering all the tax ,spending power and earning potential.

I have lived in SG for a few years too, and somehow I feel SGD4k in SG has less spending power than RM7.5k in MY. am I wrong in feeling that ?

if I apply long term visit pass (LTVP) for my spouse and approved, does she have to come immediately, or does it act like entry permit, where she can simply enter SG anytime she chooses ?

All I can see is DP needs a minimum salary requirement.

man, a whole unit HDB rental price these days are going through the roof.

Chatted with an agent , apparently with many Singaporeans returning from overseas and now staying in their own HDB which they used to rent out previously, there has been an extremely low supply of whole units sad.gif
