[Budget]
<= RM3500

[Purpose]
Primarily a gaming rig, and some programming stuffs.
Maybe photo/video editing stuffs too, but not too big on that.

[Hardwares that will be re-use]
Don't have any hardware right now but I do have an EVO 850 SSD M.2 that I'd be happy to swap out from my laptop if possible.
I have an old Samsung monitor that I could use as a placeholder once I get a better one.
I also have my keyboard and mouse already.

[Monitor resolution]
1080p or better

[Games & softwares that use frequently]
Currently playing CSGO, so if possible to get ultra settings on that, it'd be great.
Else, I'll be doing some programming on IDEs and mostly browsing the web.

Looking to play AAA games like Far Cry 5 at high/ultra settings if possible too.

[Personal preferences]
Looking for a future-proof gaming rig that I could slowly upgrade in time when I have more funds
As a side note, I don't mind buying used stuffs

[Location]
Sabah

AMD supports same socket till at least 2020. However, graphic card prices right now makes it hard to recommend GTX 1060 6GB.

How about these?

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - 859
Asus Prime B350M-A - 452
Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 X1 - 389
Zotac GTX 1050 Ti 4GB DDR5 OC - 879
WD Blue or Seagate 1TB - 189
Corsair VS 450W - 162
Tecware Edge case - 199

RM3129 total (C-Zone prices)

GTX 1060 6GB is currently RM1600 on average. CS: GO should be a piece of cake for GTX 1050 Ti.
*
Looks great, it's similar to a build I was thinking of getting.

If I can get my hands on a used 1060 6GB for around 1200, will it be worth it? Does the brand matter though? Like Asus/Gigabyte/MSI?

Yes, worth it. Brand doesn't matter to me. As long as the chip is there, you get the minimum performance.

You may want to bump up the power supply to at least 500W if you want it to last longer.
*
A slight update to the build I was going for, right now it looks like this:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Asus Prime B350M-A
Asus DUAL-GTX1060-O6G
G.skill Trident Z - 8GB x 2 - 2400Mhz
Samsung - 850 EVO 250GB M.2
Corsair VS 550W
Tecware Nexus M - White

Tried to make the build to have a 'white' theme going.

Is there going to be any problems with this build?
Should I get a different RAM instead?
Should I change the casing to the Nexus/Edge?

[Budget] 4k - 5k+

[Purpose] Gaming and normal usage

[Hardwares that will be re-use] None

[Monitor resolution] None. Need a monitor. Please do recommend any good/decent brands are there now. probably prefer to get 27"

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Dota2 (can run highest settings with good FPS). wish to run games like PUBG and high graphic RPGs. Not necessary to run in ultra setting. Medium to High.

[Personal preferences]
1. No need RBG
2. Casing no need so fancy.
*
Not really a sifu but here's my suggestion:

CPU: INTEL CORE I5-8600K RM990.00
MOBO: MSI Z370 GAMING PLUS RM565.00
RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2 X 8GB) RM836.00
GPU: ZOTAC GTX 1060 AMP CORE EDITION 3GB GDDR5 RM989.00
SSD: WESTERN DIGITAL 2.5' WD GREEN SSD RM169.00
HDD: SEAGATE 3.5' BARRACUDA 1TB SATA 6GB/S 7200RPM RM163.00
PSU: SUPERFLOWER LEADEX SILVER 550W RM299.00
CASE: TECWARE NEXUS RM179.00

TOTAL: RM4190 (Compu-zone prices)

Should be able to run Dota2 on Max settings with no issues but on other games like PUBG you might need to dial down the graphics settings to get good frame rates.
For monitor, there's the Acer ED273a for around RM900+. It's not a competitive monitor but it has VA-panels, 144hz and 4ms response time.

MOBO: ASROCK Z370M PRO 4 RM535.00
RAM: G.SKILL D4 PC2400 AEGIS 8GB RM367.00

BTW can sifus here comment on this build

CPU: INTEL CORE I5-8400 RM 692.00
MOBO: MSI B360M PRO-VH SOCKET 1151 RM 286.00
RAM: G.SKILL AEGIS SERIES 8GB DDR4 2800MHZ RM 385.00

PSU: SUPER FLOWER LEADEX SILVER 550W FULL MODULAR RM 301
CASE: TECWARE NEXUS M TG M-ATX  RM 139.00
HDD: Planning to get next month

TOTAL: RM3869
*
Not a sifu but here's my suggestion:
MOBO: ASROCK B360M Pro4
RAM: If you plan on adding a ram stick in the future, make sure to get the same same cas latency, timings and recommended voltage
Else I'd say just get a ram kit (2x8gb) for ease of use
GPU: Personally I'd go for a non-mini GPUs for better cooling but to each their own
HDD: If you have an external HDD you can still use it for storage until you get a proper internal HDD, at least for files and not OS related stuff

Everything else seems okay

Most modern games have a minimum requirement of 8GB nowadays while 16GB seems to be the sweet spot

I am looking for an ATX form factor actually. Also seems like H370 has PCIe 4x on the M.2 slot.
If were to choose from the H370 above, which would be the better one?

Thanks smile.gif
*
Is the only reason you're trying to get a H370 is for the PCIe x4 on the M.2 slot apart from the ATX form?
If yes then I have to agree with @neverfap on just getting the B360, they're much cheaper and some of them do pack a PCIe x4 on the M.2 slot like the one @neverfap suggested.

If you really want to get the H370, then I'd say the two board you suggested are very similar, I don't think you can go wrong with either one of them.
The Gigabyte H370 Aorus Gaming 3 also has two USB type-C ports while the H370 TUF does not.
Also, the H370 Aorus actually has two models, one comes with integrated Wifi module and the other one does not (which you linked).
The H370 TUF comes with integrated Wifi module, so that's a plus if you intend to use Wifi with your rig.

Then everything else comes down to "aesthetics" and "RGB".

Hello guys. Im planning to get a new PC mainly for Adobe Premiere Pro works. My budget is 2K. I already have monitor, mouse and keyboard.. I don't mind AMD or Intel.. Price over performance is preferable..
Thanks..
*
Pretty sure Adobe Premiere Pro is very demanding piece of software, you might need to bump up that budget to 3k+ to get a decent rig.
This is just my suggestion, I'm no sifu on this matter, real sifu here can probably show you a cheaper and better option.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 - 690
Asrock AB350 Pro 4 - 349
Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2400 - 696
Gigabyte GTX 1050 TI 4GB DDR5 OC - 688
WD Blue 250GB M.2 - 328
Seagate BarraCuda 1TB 3.5 - 148
Corsair VS450 - 137
Tecware Nexus - 179

Total: RM3215

You can try getting only one RAM stick first and slowly upgrade later, so you can get the rig now for around RM2867.

Both monitors are about the same except 24MP59G is catered more towards gamers.

Thannk.I know Premiere is really a demanding software for cpu. My works usually consist of 5-10 minutes video a file. Any other suggestion?
*
Not sure but you can try these:

AMD Ryzen 5 2400g - 626
Asrock AB350M Pro 4 - 309
Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-2400 - 696
Seagate BarraCuda 1TB 3.5 - 148
Corsair VS450 - 137
Tecware Nexus - 130

Total: RM2046

You'll be using integrated graphic and no SSD (longer load times, not sure about video processing time but it should be affected as well).

Both monitors are 24" IPS panel with 75Hz and 5ms response time.
Only difference is the 24MP59G-P has more "gamer" features implemented in it like "1ms motion blur reduction" but looking at reviews, that feature is useless. Seems gimmicky to me.
You'll need to check for reviews online though since I never tried these monitors before.

Hi sifus. Wanted to ask, are ups still necessary for today's pc build? What model is usually recommended?
*
Not sifu but actually I'm also looking for UPS myself lol
Checked around google and most say that you need UPS if you have "bad" electricity where you get power shortage here and there
Also UPS can at least give you time to shut down your computer (like laptop) so your work/game/whatever can be saved

Do we have bad electricity in msia? Blackouts are less frequent even though can still happen sometime.
Any models you recommend?
*
Maybe not the whole of Malaysia but more like depending on your area where blackouts happen frequently or even sometimes areas with low power.
In some situations of terrible weather (heavy thunderstorm) there might be lightning strike and a power surge might happen, this could potentially break your rig. However, this depends on the UPS if it has surge protector or not.
This is where the UPS comes in to help. You get time to shutdown your rig properly.

Not sure about models cause I'm also still looking through the UPS being sold in MY. I know there's a famous brand called APC but that's all I can find in MY so far. sweat.gif

Thanks for the suggestion, my PSU is cooler master g550m.

I don't need RGB, is there any better:

Mobo with more features/cheaper?

16gb ram with higher MHz/cheaper?

Thank you
*
AS what Kristal said, the H370 is filled with tons of features already for a locked CPU. H370 and B360 motherboards can only support up to 2666Mhz so there's no point for you on getting any higher than that.

If you want more "power", then you'll have to get an unlocked CPU and go with Z370. There you can opt for higher RAM speeds.
However, none of these options are cheaper by any mean, it only gets more expensive.

Guys. Just curious. Between i7 8700 and ryzen 7 2700, which is better in terms of:
1, Performance in workstation stuff like Adobe Premiere and others, if I dont plan to OC and want to use stock cooler
2, Total cost overall when we include mobo and stuff
3, Future proof, or upgradability..
*
1. Adobe Premiere favors Intel currently due to IGP hardware acceleration (Intel only feature). Refer to the three links below.
(12 mins video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wOBGmxyBEs
(10 mins video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofdh-THQFpE
(25 mins video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj6rUdhmIvQ
TLDW; get the 8700 if you're extensively using your rig for rendering on Adobe Premiere.
I'm not too sure about cooling the 8700 with the stock cooler though but since it comes along with the CPU, might as well try it first. If it gets toasty, opt for an air cooling solution or AIO coolers.

2. If you're talking about the price of a complete rig, maybe around RM4000-6000 for a good one? Idk.

3. Well it's a desktop rig, upgradability is always an option. You are future proofing with the newest gen of CPU though, so you're set there.
