Wait until the 8GB haters comes and tell you its pisspoor and VRAM buffer totally not playable, then offers you 6700xt for the same price with lesser raster perf but the 12GB VRAM will make everything okay...
Stop. Why would I recommend people new 8GB card for 2026? So you want them to buy a new card just to reduce quality or avoid badly optimized (some of them are good games) too? Even AMD makes a new card with 8GB. Avoid it. There are so many evidence developers stopped catering for 8GB. This is not about you.No GPU price increase due to RAM prices at the moment. Price will go up as well.

For new build I wouldnt go down to DDR4 anymore, as DDR5 has about 20% perf gap

You could save cost by buying only 1 stick first then maybe a year later buy another stick of RAM to add on

With some compatibility caveats tho. With DDR4, you shouldnt do that coz risk of mixing RAMs with different DRAM chips even on the same series. However with DDR5, its usually with Hynix A dies so buying later theres still a higher chance to get another stick with the same A dies later on.
DDR5 currently about triple the price. Its not easy to recommend something. Perhaps branded? Gotta look around and see which one has the least OEMness.https://www.techspot.com/review/3059-ddr5-vs-ddr4-gaming/
