Not if Intel kills ARC and automatically obsoletes that B580. 7 years down the line, Im super duper confident that 5050 can still run latest games & apps, not so much the Intel GPUs future fate.
*
Highly doubt it. 7 years down the line very likely GPU is not powerful enough for any cards at this price anyway.

And Intel is hiring more GPU engineers....

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice from experienced PC builders.

My rig currently has an RTX 2080 Super. It’s been great so far, but in newer games like Dying Light: The Beast I can only play comfortably on medium settings, and even then there are occasional stutters.

I’d really like to run games on high or ultra settings, so I’m thinking of upgrading my GPU to at least an RTX 40-series card.

Budget: My price range is approximately RM 6,000–8,000, with a maximum of RM 10,000. I’m also open to buying parts gradually over time.

Can anyone suggest what other parts I should consider upgrading — CPU, RAM, PSU, motherboard, etc. — or share whether it might be better to do a full rebuild instead of just replacing the GPU?

Any recommendations, build examples, or personal experiences are much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Here’s the photo of my current PC rig at the bottom.

Just crappy developers pushing too much VRAM use. You have to upgrade CPU and GPU. Upgrade your graphic card to at least RTX 5080 + 850-1000W power supply. For the CPU, you can update BIOS and go with 5700X3D. its a downgrade of your CPU cores but better gaming performance. Or you can jump into 7800X3D or 9800X3D + mobo + 32GB or 48GB DDR5-6000 CL30.

Thank you for the tips!
Would you mind sharing some example parts or links for what you mentioned?
I’m not very experienced, so if I just search by name I worry I might buy something that doesn’t fit.
Especially with the GPU and motherboard — I’m not sure if they’ll fit into my Fractal Design case, or if I’d need to change the case too to support more demanding games.

Yeah, 315mm max length for the GPU is going to be hard...

Try

GPU:
Galax RTX 5080 White (315mm, 303mm after removing bracket)- 4719 (Just IT)
Review:
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/galax-ge...080-1-click-oc/

CPU Option 1:
Ryzen 7 5700X3D - RM1103.52 (PCU legacy, expensive...)

CPU Option 2 (pick a CPU):
Thermalright Royal Pretor 130 cooler - 194 (Gadget IT)
Ryzen 7 7800X3D (tray) - 1282 (All IT)

I didnt say run smoothly (as if it can right now) but just being supported by the apps and drivers. When things are out of support crazy things can happen and to such owners theres no recourse as they wont be able to write compatible drivers themselves.

Intel hiring more engineers? What about the 20,000+ they just laid off? Hiring just to fire later isnt new. Wait until Jensen gets his grubby hands into Intel operations.

As of today, still no fails randomly running lighter games on my A380. Including Blue Archive.

CPU: 5700X3D
Storage: Legend 960Max (throw out the HDD and dinky Gen3 SSD)

Your MesifyC has max 315mm GPU fit limit, so based on TPU database nearly all 5080 cannot fit except a few ie MSI Shadow & Ventus3X, Asus Prime models. Otherwise, 5070Ti are slightly smaller so theres more models that will fit inside.

Then PSU; get 1000W unit for longevity since your using Seasonic PSU, go with a larger Seasonic unit wont be wrong.

Galax RTX 5080 1-click OC is 303mm. It is Nvidia SFF ready.

QUOTE(StenCL @ Sep 26 2025, 10:35 PM)
Thanks for the tips everyone.

I think I’ll make these my first choice for now:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Mobo: MSI X870-P Wifi

GPU: Galax RTX 5080 White

PSU: Super Flower Leadex III 1000W

Case: Fractal North XL
Planning a full overhaul so it’ll last me a good few years.

Quick questions:

1. Which parts usually sell out faster or are more likely to go out of stock?
I’m guessing the case, but how about the others?

2. Can I reuse my SSD + HDD and current RAM for now, then upgrade later — it shouldn’t cause any issues, right?

3. On Shopee I noticed some CPU + mobo bundles are priced slightly higher (few hundreds) than buying separately.
Isn’t a combo usually cheaper, or is there something special about it?

If anyone has any more suggestions or alternatives, please let me know.
*
9800X3D will last you a while. You will be more worried about sales over than stock at this time.

Yes, you can reuse your drives. You cannot use DDR4 on X870 board. It uses DDR5 slots.

Yeah, thats why I handpicked the parts. Some bundles uses old prices.

Hi all, want some help on parts for my upcoming itx build

Cpu : r5 7500f. If there's a better cpu with a difference of 100-200 might go with that.

Mobo : any cheap a620i. Not too keen on chinese mobo like jginyue b650i, dunno about their future driver support & ram compatibility

Ram : 16gb or 32gb. This rig will mainly be used for gaming, dunno how much is optimal.

Storage : any good value 2tb nvme.

Gpu : rx 9060xt 16gb or rx 9070. Really wanted Nvidia, but scared if i unplugged the 12v cable too frequently something might happen.

Psu : 600-800, dunno how much i need

Case : sgpc k49 pro. Or any itx below 10L w similar layout.

Budget is 4-6k. Will mainly be gaming on fhd, 2k for nxt year when i have the money for a new monitor. I wanted itx since it compact enough to carry on a plane yet upgradeable, unlike steamdeck. Will be traveling min once a year to kk.

Dunno if this is the correct format. Thanks for any feedback

Maybe you can fish for Ryzen 7 7700 at RM1k. A620? Rather look for B650. Too many limitations. Get at least 750W. It is more future proof. SFX PSU isn't cheap. Cooler Master V 750W SFX or Corsair SF750. Unless you wanna give 1st Player 750W SFX a try.

Below 10L with good compatibility is tough. There is Lian Li A4-H2O at 11L that can fit a lot of hardware.

Sorry, another quick question — any fan recommendations?
If I bought the Thermalright Royal Pretor 130 cooler for CPU Cooler.

I see a lot of people recommend Noctua, but the NF-A14x25r G2 PWM is hard to find from local sellers.
Are there more affordable alternatives that still offer solid airflow and quiet performance?
I’m planning to follow Fractal’s 140 mm fan layout for the North XL.

Try Arctic P14 Max. This fan can go 2800rpm. You have to limit the speed.

Hi sifus, need some recommendation for upgrading my graphic cards
Im looking for gpu with 12gb or above for work purposes, ideally 16gb or above
My budget is below 2.5k, hopefully can get something around 1.5k to 2k

This is my current computer specs:
Motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-A
RAM: Kingston 16GB x2
PSU: Corsair RM650 650w
GPU: Palit RTX3060 Dual 12GB
*
RTX 5060 Ti has 16GB but RTX 5070 12GB is more powerful (until it hits VRAM wall).

Asking now and buying it in a few months later is a waste of time. Prices doesn't stick.

[B][Budget] RM 4k

[Purpose]: NAS & Virtualization for testing home lab

[Hardwares that will be re-use]: None

[Monitor resolution]: None

[Games & softwares that use frequently]: None

[Personal preferences]: if up to 64Gb RAM is great. mATX will be great. Placing it at my TV Cabinet

[Location]: PJ
*
Don't place it until it has no airflow. NAS and Virtualization is going to be hard. AMD has crappy idle power. Virtualization doesn't like Intel e-cores (can be fixed with apps like ProcessLasso). Unfortunately, finding a m-ATX NAS case is challenging.

Recently upgraded the gpu (got it at below MSRP) in my SFF mini ITX rig.
I am thinking if I need to upgrade the cpu too (if there is a cpu bottleneck.) budget of Rm1.5k - 2.0k for this cpu upgrade.
And if I need upgrade the cpu cooler or PSU subsequently.

Main (only) use is single player gaming at 1440p 120-144fps and occasionally 4k 60-120fps on my tv. I do run this desktop headless and it streams via Apollo/sunshine on a 2.5gbps lan connection.

ryzen 5 7500F
Asrock A620i lightning wifi
32GB klevv 6000mhz CL32
RTX5080 windforce OC SFF
AK400 digital white deepcool
CH160 deepcool case
1TB NVME SSD + 2TB NVME SSD
850W Thermal right gold TG850-W.
*
Go for 7800X3D or 9800X3D. 4k resolution will need GPU upgrade. Make sure you use the latest BIOS as Asrock boards kills X3D CPUs.

That’s my concern with Asrock boards.
Especially with the 9800X3D.
Is 850W sufficient for 7800x3D + 5080?

Don’t think I’ll go for the 5090 or 4090.
I’ll stick with my 5080 with frame gen + DLSS for 4k gaming. benchmark for 4k gaming is the ps5 pro haha, as long it’s better performance than that, I’m happy enough.

More than enough for the PSU.

For the budget of rm3k, I wish to do some editing. It seems u recommend a higher cpu, i7 vs i5 with a gpu. Is it fair to say for that budget this would be the best option?
*
If you are video editing, 6500 XT is crap to begin with. It has no video encoder. Intel built-in GPU is overpowered for it. i7 will make it even smoother.

Hard facepalm for RX6000 owners when their cards not even that old to start to be deprecated.

https://www.techpowerup.com/342449/no-more-...n-driver-branch

https://www.techpowerup.com/342481/amd-clar...support-remains

Particularly the 6700xt was a frequent reco here over RTX 8GB cards. Ironically now these Nvidia cards would still be playable into the future albeit less optimum but at least better than not being able to play if older Radeons dont get driver updates for latest games.

This is not unexpected. Just move on and see if they keep their word. I don't do "grey". I still stand by not recommending 8GB junk.

I rather stand by what I reco, and that is not unusable ewaste 12GB cards just coz AMD is greedy now. Based on precedent, RTX 3000 8GB cards are only halfway thru their supported lifecycle while its contemporary RX6000 is being obsoleted. Like the other Steve said, I too would be hesitant to reco AMD cards in future.
*
LOL. I don't recommend new cards that stutters at 1080p for more than RM1k when maxed which can happen today. Good luck with 8GB garbage. Why would I lower the settings for a new card? Still way better than 5 years down the line.

AMD already said it will provide support. In black and white.
