Hello all sifus, need some help on deciding specs for a new desktop, already got the monitor so just the pc will do

[Budget] Preferably RM3K but maximum can go up to RM3500

[Purpose] Gaming, Movies

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor only

[Monitor resolution] 1080p

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Just some light gaming and work related software like excel and whatnot

[Personal preferences] if possible prefer nvidia gpu, not sure this budget range can get what kind of gpu

[Personal preferences] monitor i prefer 27" IPS
Other than that, I'm fine with anything.

hello sifus, need some opinions here, my current rig is am4 with r5 3600 & 1070ti, and the psu recently got smoked (just rma-ed before cny) when i was playing wolong

with that said, i am planning to upgrade to 5700x3d, 32g ddr4, and 4070tis / 5070ti / 5080 depending on prices since my budget is flexible after getting my psu rma back and i dont really need all the latest coolest stuff

want to know if its wise with this upgrade or should move to am5

As the release of 5070ti is sometime around this month, I've made some change of mind upgrading from 1080p to 1440p from my previous plan.
Heard Intel kinda fixed the problems of their Core Ultras lineup with firmware and windows updates, and it somewhat need to have high speed CUDIMM to make it work best.

Right now, I am still undecided on which camp to go this this to replace my aging 6700k, might need some nudge from the sifus here.

TristanX Is it worth spending extra for a RTX4070Ti Super over the 4070 Super?  Seeing that you get 15% percent performance boost and extra 4GB VRAM

Yo, havent been on lowyat for some time, last time I was here was when I built my first PC a Ryzen 5 1600x + RX 580. Im looking for suggestions on a gaming rig, I have been eyeing the Ryzen 5 7500f (don't need apu, if anything happens I can use my lil brother's GPU), RX 7800 XT 16 GB, MSI B650M Gaming Plus,1st player 750w full modular, 32gb XPG DDR5 6000Mhz, Montech XR case, any PCIE 4 SSD. Everything is around rm4.5k++(based on shoppee/aliexpress). I want to game at 1440p, optimised/high settings. Monitor price doesn't matter atm, just focusing on the PC first. Should I also consider AM4? the ryzen 7 5700x3d doesn't sound too bad, +cheaper mobo and ram could save a lot.

You also forgot that high/ultra settings are largely overkill and are intended for future hardware
People here has been forgetting that poor PC gaming performance has always been an issue, and developers always have an incentive to push graphics and performance to the limits
...and I think a lot of people are vastly underestimating the work most game devs do so people really need to stop blaming developers/publishers for 'poor' optimization, it's not a new phenomenon and stop pushing the whole poor optimization/graphics thing as a recent issue

Is 1000W PSU enough? can't find ATX 3.1 1000W on idealtech.

Prefer idealtech builder as want ready prebuilt but can consider others.
Any problems with this build? where can I save more? is going down to 7800x3d and a cheaper motherboard still good enough for RTX 5080? for 1440p.

Hi all, my friend upgraded his work rig not too long ago and he started experiencing some form of slowness when working with Photoshop / Illustrator. He doesn't game at all and thus did not include a dedicated GPU in his rig.

He's considering getting a GPU if it's a solution better responsiveness while working with Photoshop/illustrator. To give more context, his projects will often have heavy layers and effects paired with high resolution photos. When he's trying to save his project, the pop up window will take 1-2 secs to appear. Seems sluggish in general when using different tools.



This was his system load, I don't think he's bottlenecked by RAM/CPU since it's not fully utilized. His drives are not close to 90% utilization as well. One thing to note is that he utilizes Google Drive.

Can someone shed some light on what's causing this sluggish performance? Thanks.

CRYORIG H5 apparently isnt that bad, able to handle up to 200W CPU load altho its very dated, I dont even know if it has mounting support for LGA1700

I had bought an RTX4070 Super last month for about RM2.7k+, not sure if it was worth it or should have waited for RTX 5xxx series. But so far performance has been alright. Any ideas whether RTX5080 or RTX5070 would have been a better choice?
