Why not consider a gaming notebook instead? It will be portable and mobility will definitely be a plus point for you. Instead of getting speakers, do consider getting a gaming headset as you could have online chats with your family, friends in private when you are abroad. More importantly, don't have to worry about complaints of excessive noise from your neighbors when gaming

So I'm opting for this setup, how about the WiFi card? What kind of WiFi receiver should i be getting?
*
You can use a WIFI USB adaptor. Cost can range between RM23 for a TP-LINK TL-WN727N WIFI 150N to RM509 for a ASUS WIFI AC3100 USB-AC88

I forgot to put this in the OP; I'm ruling out gaming laptops for now. I know it's ideal for travelling, but for the performance I want, they're way too expensive. I'm gonna build a pc for home use anyway, so I thought why not make that pc semi-portable; able to move from one permanent location to another (I am not gonna bring it around to classes or on the bus; it'll either stay in my room at home or stay in my room at uni). So yeah, no laptop.

Ah, I actually forgot about headsets. Good call. Might as well invest in a good one and forgo speakers. All I'm thinking is I might want speakers for regular use, as wearing headphones for extended periods of time can wear out my ears/head (if that makes any sense). The home set up will definitely have standard sized speakers. Thanks for the suggestions

Gaming notebooks come in a myriad of configs and of course, price. It will definitely cost more than desktop, the price paid for portability. Maybe you could take a look at this.

Will use i7 instead of Ryzen in this build because budget AM4 mobo is nowhere to be found yet, as for the GPU, I'll pick GTX1060 over RX480 because GTA V favors Nvidia GPU heavily.

Intel Core i7 7700 - RM 1424
Asus H110M-K - RM 259
G.SKill Aegis 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz RAM - RM 510
Palit GTX1060 6GB GDDR5 Dual - RM 1229
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD - RM 219
FSP Hexa+ 550W - RM 195
Tecware Edge - RM 149

Total: RM 3985 (ETECH price inclusive of GST)
QUOTE(Lumiaaa @ Mar 29 2017, 10:56 AM)
Can you suggest small form factor build? Such as node 202 case and a different mobo to fit

I'm aware my budget may go up a bit
*
As a node 202 caters for MITX mobo, an ASUS H110I-PLUS RM380 will do the job. As for PSU, you will need a SFX type, which costs more eg Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 600W RM589, Silverstone SFX 600W RM585. Note that the Node 202 also comes with its own PSU for RM669 but alas, it is only a 450W.

EDIT : You could consider the Node 304 (RM369) or CM Elite 130 (RM219), both of which can support ATX PSU

would you get a used HDD ? is it reliable ?

I normally would not. A HDD is used to store valuable data and one should not run the risk. Just my own practice.

Hi, i;m planning to build an ITX Rig, here is what i have in mind atm:

I7 7700
GA-B250N-Phoenix WIFI (any other itx mobo that support m.2)
INTEL 540s 240GB M.2
Fractal Design Define Nano S

I haven't made up my mind on the ram (at least 16gb) and PSU, any good and reliable full or semi modular PSU to recommend?

Note:

I don't need a GPU..

Appreciate for any recommendation smile.gif
*
Unfortunately for you, the Nano S will require a SFX PSU, which will be quite pricey. As you have plans to (eventually) add a GPU, you should get a PSU of at least 550W. Here are some for your consideration:

1. Silverstone SX500 (modular) RM499 (Idealtech)
2. Silverstone SX600 (modular) RM575 (Idealtech)
3. Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 600W (modular) RM589 (C-zone)

As for RAM, you should consider 2 x 8GB DDR4-2133 or 2400.

EDIT: Oops, you don't have plan to add GPU. 450W-500W PSU will suffice. Btw, the Nano S can be bought with 450W PSU for RM669 (C-zone).
1. Silverstone SFX450W (modular) RM455
2. Thermaltake Toughpower SFX450W RM459

The Dell is Idealtech. The others from C-zone. It is just a general guide. Good if you can get cheaper

Yes, you are right. 23MP68VQ has freesync. Not sure what GPU you are using/planning to use. But between the other 3, I would go for the Asus since it is a 23" and the design looks nice

Ah only the 23MP68VQ has freesync in that list, so i guess ill get the 23MP68VQ for future proof purposes. As i will get a new pc with amd gpu soon. Thanks for your help bro.
*
If you are planning to get an AMD GPU, that would be the better choice. You will be able to get 75Hz with Freesync

Dear Sifus,

Thinking of upgrading my PC slowly. My PC current specs as below. I am thinking of changing the casing to a more low profile casing and also my PSU is it good enough to support my future use? Do i need to Upgrade my PSU?

ASUS P8Z77-V LX
Intel I5-3570k
Corsair Vengence 1600 8GB DDR3 Ram
Leadtek GTX6700
Corsair CX500 PSU
Aerocool Strike X ATX
*
Not exactly sure what you mean by "upgrade your PC slowly" but your current mobo is ATX so, what ever case you intend to change to must be capable of hosting ATX mobo. "small" ATX case to consider are Fractal Design Define C, NXZT S340, Corsair 400C. As for the 500W PSUfrom Corsair and based on the list of items you provided, is sufficient, no need to upgrade for now.

This is so confusing. Will give it a try assuming your old monitor is 1980x1080:

CPU - CORE I5 7500 RM880
MOBO - ASUS H110M-K RM279
RAM - 1 x 8Gb KINGSTON D4 PC2133 RM265

What i mean is i am going to upgrade the components one by one. first by changing the casing cause my current casing is with 4 led fan and it's noisy so planing to change one first. I am looking at the Carbide Series® 100R Mid-Tower Case. can this fit to my rig?

I forgot to mention. i also have 2 x WD Blue 2TB HDD and a set of CM CPU cooler. Will the PSU sufficient to support my current rig? Future i am planning to upgrade to SSD and also add on my storage HDD because currently the HDD is almost full.
*
500W PSU can sufficiently power 6 HDD, your current mobo and CPU along with the case fans you are planning. You just have to ensure the case you select will have sufficient clearance for the CPU cooler you plan to use

hi any1 buying stuff using credit card visa from lowyat pc shops recently? do they have any extra charges using credit card when buying new pc/parts? do they have extra service charge building new pc/upgrade pc?

i found a shop at web quite nice - http://www.idealtech.com.my/store/index.ph...ute=common/home

price almost same as lowyat but they can make ur pc nice nice, :
- Free Assembly & Installation
(for full rigs hardware purchased from Ideal Tech PC only)
- Update with Latest Hardware BIOS or Firmware & Latest Drivers
(We will flash the latest bios on motherboard and using latest graphic card drivers)

ive ask them they say got extra 2% charge for credit card, not sure if using half cash half credit card though

QUOTE(terence_nwb @ Apr 11 2017, 08:41 AM)
Viewnet Lowyat Plaza doesn't have any credit card surcharge, not sure about others though.
*
Sadly, most shops subject credit card payments to a 2% surcharge sad.gif

QUOTE(avengers88 @ Apr 11 2017, 10:34 AM)
Just to answer your question, any amount u use on the credit card will be charged 2%.

So if your pc is 4000, u pay 2000 cash and 2000 credit card. U'll be charged 1.02X2000 = 2040.

You are correct thumbup.gif
