Particularly the 6700xt was a frequent reco here over RTX 8GB cards. Ironically now these Nvidia cards would still be playable into the future albeit less optimum but at least better than not being able to play if older Radeons dont get driver updates for latest games.
Read the update. First day game support is available, for now.
Update - 11:45 am ET, October 31: In a statement of clarification to Tom's Hardware, AMD says that "New features, bug fixes and game optimizations will continue to be delivered as required by market needs in the maintenance mode branch" to its RDNA 1 and 2-based GPUs, following community pushback and some confusion regarding its recent decision to put the cards in 'maintenance mode'. AMD had previously stated cards would "continue to receive driver updates for critical security and bug fixes." Full story here. The rest of yesterday's story remains as published.
This is not unexpected. Just move on and see if they keep their word. I don't do "grey". I still stand by not recommending 8GB junk.
I rather stand by what I reco, and that is not unusable ewaste 12GB cards just coz AMD is greedy now. Based on precedent, RTX 3000 8GB cards are only halfway thru their supported lifecycle while its contemporary RX6000 is being obsoleted. Like the other Steve said, I too would be hesitant to reco AMD cards in future.

LOL. I don't recommend new cards that stutters at 1080p for more than RM1k when maxed which can happen today. Good luck with 8GB garbage. Why would I lower the settings for a new card? Still way better than 5 years down the line.
AMD already said it will provide support. In black and white.

Between playing poorly and not being able to play at all, im sure mostly will chose the former. Good luck with a blank screen.
LOL. Clearly no clue on what will happen. So you like more slideshow in 5-10 years, some even crash? Yes, it can crash with not enough VRAM.
Hardware unboxed also got confirmation from AMD it has game support for RDNA. Go cry somewhere else.
Yeah sure. Slideshow still better than black screens. Whatever. AMD done this before. 1st Gen Ryzen mobos were removed from supporting newer AM4 CPUs until they walk back after much backlash but then not all older mobos had support. At this stage Im not confident AMD actually cares for their existing users but sure, continue your AMD fanboyism shill. Fanbois are all so gullible.

You can go ahead with your crappy Nvidia products.
LOL. Calling me fanboi without knowing. Its called buying better product for the money. Did you know only 3 generations of my GPUs is ATI/AMD? I still have 4080 and 3050 8GB. Your responses made it obvious you are Nvidia fanboi. So desperate.

Found out reddit got ppl buy, heatsink just like laptop one
He's salty. Finding as much as possible discrediting anything other than Nvidia. Even with 8GB selling more than RM1k is fine. Some post is spam level too. All he wants is inflating his post counts.

After the massive backlash (again! harken back Ryzen 1st gen mobo support), AMD has Uturn on their lower prioritisation game support for RDNA1/2 (again! like Ryzen 1st gen mobos).
But how long will AMD commitment remain? Since the main issue is RDNA1/2 are still parked under Maintenance Mode status and not back to main driver prioritisation, so is AMD hoping the heat dies down in time and they can go back to release game drivers when they so chooses?
Lets see then how AMD fanbois are coping this, maybe they should start making their own noises if they cant play the latest games due to late drivers coming instead of fawning over that brand (no their not your friend nor saviour to Nvidia evilness!).
Meanwhile Intel is actually doing better at game ready ARC driver support than AMD. Go figure. At least they arent as broken as AMD nowadays
9060XT 16GB doing worse than 5060 8GB? LOL!

This is rig suggestions, not AMD vs Nvidia. Last warning.
Lol. Handpicking benchmark results. I bet they don't even stress the VRAM. For cheating waterfish.
Expect in general, hardware prices to go up as various IT products are tied to TSMC; AMD Ryzens & Intel CPU chiplets made by TSMC, many SSD controllers are also by TSMC ie Phison, Innogrit, SM, Maxio?, ARM Cortex SOC in phones & handhelds are fabricated near exclusively by TSMC.
Even those few vertically integrated inhouse made (Samsung, Hynix) would also take opportunity to raise prices in keeping with the industry.
Dont say I never warn people. Prices of RAM & SSD are shooting up and soon this after CPU prices will up as well.

Even it might run games at higher FPS, some games may 'cheat' by using automatic texture quality scaling. FPS usually don't tell the whole story There are plenty of articles that 8GB VRAM is simply not good enough for modern games, and especially with the fact that 1440p is basically the norm for many gamers these days
