Board is way overpriced for the Intel build, you can get something like a Z890 board for about the same price:
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/pdp-i433....list.1&stock=1

Gaming performance is terrible for a CPU like this, though sweat.gif

Comparison...haha.. for work AMD sux...

Productivity, it's good, too bad the gaming performance is just not good (it's even slower than some old CPUs like the 12900K/5800X3D, even with expensive RAM) sweat.gif
Single generation socket too sweat.gif

Hi Sifus, I'm planning to upgrade my cpu to 7800x3d and would like your recommendation for motherboards.

Looking for the best value and if not much price difference for future proofing may also consider. Wifi is not important for me as I use LAN cable for internet so if there's a cheaper one would be great as well.

Currently looking at MSI B850 Gaming plus wifi. TQ in advance.

Current mainboard? hmm.gif

Will not recommend any of them. Pricey and higher cooling requirements. May not get the performance you expect.
*
...and is vastly overkill for most use cases, which basically means you are throwing away money for no practical performance gains icon_idea.gif

More number crunching. CPU benchmarks with RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070.

No scaling with the 5800X3D/7800X3D? The former is particularly important for those on AM4 sweat.gif

i believe 2 point game series doesnt require as much raw cpu performance as cities skylines / dyson sphere program / x4 foundations / transport fever 2 ?  hmm.gif

i can spend hundreds of hours into these games & the fps in late game is horrendous.
*
Late game can really bring down your CPU though sweat.gif

SATA SSD is pretty much stuck since 2 years ago. Market moved on to NVME and manufacturer no longer make new controller for refresh. We are left with DRAM-less models without HMB (SATA has no HMB capability after all). mega_shok.gif
*
...which is annoying because my second M.2 slot is SATA only doh.gif

Yeah, that is one of the annoying thing. We have limited PCI-E lanes. With PCI-E 5.0, we could even go for x1 M.2 slots, but this would cause discontent among those with old SSDs. laugh.gif There are also board area constraint & manufacturing complexity (+ some other practical reasons) when we start looking for backside slots. sweat.gif

But you since you are still on AM4, just move on to a B850 with 3x NVMe slots. ASRock has plenty of options except of the infamous unknowingly dead processor issue.  laugh.gif MSI B850M Mortar is pricey but it checks.
*
Not wanting to switch platforms though, budget not enough sweat.gif
Will only do a CPU upgrade -> 5700X3D

1KW PSU seems way overkill for a 220W GPU sweat.gif

A small heads up, Nvidia is shifting their manufacturing priorities towards AI GPUs rather than gaming GPUs - expect higher prices/more shortages in the future:

https://www.igorslab.de/en/nvidia-shifts-re...of-geforce-rtx/

Take this news with a large grain of NaCl however, as it is based on a single forum post from AIB representatives icon_idea.gif

Hi, need suggestions from upgrading current rig, mainly on CPU n GPU

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 > AMD Ryzen 7 5700x
Mobo: MSI B450M mortar
RAM: XPG Spectrix D41 2x 8GB
GPU: Asus ROG Strix GTX 1660 Ti > RTX 3060 or 4060
PSU: FSP hyper M85+ 650W
SSD: XPG SX8200 Pro 256GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Use for light gaming and productivity (coding, video editing).
Any other better options? TQ.

Define 'light' gaming first icon_idea.gif
Depending on your needs you may want a SSD/PSU upgrade as well icon_idea.gif

Asrock B760M ProA/D4 Wifi at RM599 . MSI B760M-A Pro Wifi DDR4 at around RM649. Viewnet no more stock. Maybe try C-Zone.
*
Alternatively, just buy a cheap WiFi 6(E) PCIe card icon_idea.gif

Is casual gaming, mostly on 1080p. SSD upgrade also part of the plan.

What kind of action adventure games? As it is a big genre with highly diverse system requirements icon_idea.gif

Avoid. Won't touch China product as there are always some hanky panky going on, i.e. unknown flash chip that they wipe off the original silk screen (or outright doesn't even need to do since those are defective chip, so original manufacturer will just dump them away) and put on their own label. Ideally find those brands that produce the flash chip themselves as it is inhouse supply.
The SLC cache reduces as you store data into it. This amount also decreases way faster than TLC since you only have effectively half the amount for SLC mode at any time. doh.gif
*
...and it's not like there is a huge price difference between QLC and TLC drives anyway sweat.gif

Unfortunately it is out of stock. RM1299 is worth it! You still need at least Ryzen 7000 or Intel 14th gen for it to work properly as well.
*
I wonder whether you can still buy one at this price, especially it's now priced at RM1500-RM1600 sweat.gif
Stocks doesn't seem to look very good either sweat.gif

Good luck. B580 is not available anywhere in this world at MSRP, that is if you can even get stock. Deswai no point to reco a nonexistent GPU when others ie 5060 is affordable and available and Geforce stocks are getting better with time.
*
Considering 5060 prices, you can already get a 7600 XT for similar price with double the VRAM (without the worries of running out of VRAM), and even that one isn't that much of a value either sweat.gif

QUOTE
5060 is affordable and available and Geforce stocks are getting better with time.

That's probably because the 5060 is an awful card (certainly better than the 4060, but that's a low bar), so not much people wanted them in the first place sweat.gif

RTX3060 12GB or RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Before you think about 8GB cards, just watch these videos before you decide.

It will happen to RTX 5060 8GB as well.

Just get Kingston KC3000 for your SSD. It still has the best price/performance/storage for your money.
*
The somewhat ironic thing is had Nvidia fitted the card with 12GB memory it is the best value card out there - too bad Nvidia decided to cripple it with 8GB memory sweat.gif
Let's just hope Nvidia refreshes it with a 5060 Super with the new 3GB modules in the near future sweat.gif

Umm similar money but trails a lot in perf

user posted image

The 7600xt extra VRAM still cant save its 1% lows so it still performs like shit vs 5060
user posted image

And of course 7000series still has pisspoor RT perf
user posted image

7600XT is hard to reco at such prices with these poor perf inspite of the VRAM. Again the GPU just doesnt have the horsepower to make use the VRAM buffer. Meanwhile 5060 is on another tier. If 7700XT was same price then I prefer that instead. Too bad radeon prices here are shit.
*
Yes, that's why I said:
QUOTE

I did highlight the value prospective of the 5060 with my reply to TristanX earlier too icon_idea.gif
