I specifically recommended 2666Mhz because it was the #1 pick for cheapest RAM (I'm lazy I know), and also because both mobos only officiallly support up to 2666Mhz if not mistaken.

Also is there any benefit to going over the max supported RAM speed other than limited futureproofing? Not flaming, genuinely curious.

But otherwise, fully agree on Intel being the better price/performance at that price bracket.

Tell me what can you observe from this? I will share my thought later on regarding on this ram topic.

what jedec profiles d20 3200mhz has?

normally this kind of 3200mhz only runs at 3200mhz when enable xmp profile at 1.35v only can get this speed. i know 10100 with b460 mobo only support up to 2666, just that wanna know if d20 has flexibility in compatibility with lots of jedec profile written on it.

i would only recommend those 3200mhz ram with 2133/2400/2666/2933/3200 jedec profile with 1.2v for non oc user.

I’m finally upgrading my trusted i5 2500 to a new build but I’m kinda torn between i5 11400f and r5 3600. Both build will be in the similar budget. Would getting a r5 3600 in mid 2021 worth it? Or should I go i5 11400f?
*
get the i5 11500

you never know one day your gpu fxcked up and u gonna buy gpu in harga yahudi

i have a few spare GPU as backup. one 1060 , one rx550 and one rx570. so no worries there
*
then both are fine. just go with the 1 available for you to buy.

but i still recommend 11500 or 11600 due to integrated graphic (intel QSV for fast video encoding and new AV1 decoding), and 11500 definitely is better binned chip than 11400f.

Hey guys,  so for dell xps desktop if few years later you want to change graphic card you can't bcs of the design???
*
which XPS desktop u mean?

if u want to change graphic card, there are 2 requirements:
1) Can the graphic card fit into your casing? Yes then proceed no. 2.
2) Does the psu have the right connector and enough power to feed the gpu? Yes then can change.

else, buy new casing, psu, mobo, cpu cooler, and move your cpu, ram, ssd, hdd and new gpu over it.

then how about the old casing, psu, mobo, gpu? put in i3, 8GB ram, 256gb ssd and sell it 1 month before warranty ends. (or u prefer turn it into your backup pc)

and you are asking a question for "few years later". stop worrying and buy what you need now.

Also spinning drives?  The software clearly recommends SSDs so why would you recommend a high RPM drive over flash memory? sweat.gif

I wonder if esports duo will work or not. Same brand.

any cooler with this kind of bracket mostly can…what matters is just the height of the heatsink and the screw size only.

more info on other plug n play cooler for dell xps

of course those who don't mind modding can go with noctua.

but in this thread, i prefer all recommendation based on plug n play options.

workflow of order parts from dell is like this:

1. live chat with dell tech support, tell them what part you want to buy. they will raise a ticket to out of warranty parts team to liaise with you.

https://www.dell.com/support/incidents-onli...e?flyingspaghettimonster=contactus

2. if you don't know the part numbers, you can check your pc model service manual. for example:

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-my/...ae62&lang=en-us

3. screenshot it and tell them you want buy this and that and request for quotation without labour for installation. *take note that quotation from different agents will get different price laugh.gif

4. once received quotation then use bank giro transfer to their account and send them the transaction slip.

5. once u got order confirmation then u can track here la:

Need to ask any dell sifu here.

I just received my XPS 8940. Since the i7 have integrated gpu, can i take out the 3060 ti and use the built in gpu as display? Will it work? Any settings to do?
Of coz i will use the 3060ti for myself and desktop if can work goes to kid online study.
*
can no problem. ntg need to be setup. will just work.

if u no plan to upgrade the cpu cooler, i advise u to turn off the hyper threading in bios and limit cpu frequency in windows to 4000mhz if using that lousy stock cpu cooler.

Don't need. Your stuffs are light.
I bet the GPU is on mining rig. Warranty can be an issue.
*
warranty could be an issue if
1. the seller no give u the ori invoice
2. the seller already register warranty online

no worry, myself also bought from these kind of miner. can online register warranty.

how to check if the warranty already been registered or not without login windows? press F12 go into bios…there is event log there…if already registered then will indicate the date of the ownership on 1st line in event log.

Warranty also must be entire set (inclusive the GPU). It will be an issue.

I wouldn't trust any miner. lol
*
nope. my friend bought the same set and already claim warranty without any issue.
