Yup yup, that is what I have in mind too, thanks for the advice

Casing wise, I ended up going with the Asus ProArt PA401
*
Its an okay case as far as cases go in functionality. Except your paying Asus tax for just the brandname. As long your happy with it its alrite.

Hi guys, anyone can suggest good cpu casing for this setup?

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700x
Mobo: MSI B450M mortar
RAM: XPG Spectrix D41 2x 8GB
GPU: Asus Prime RX 9060 XT 16GB
PSU: FSP hyper M85+ 650W
SSD: XPG SX8200 Pro 256GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
CPU cooler: Cooler Master MasterAir MA410P
Case: Tecware M2 micro

Budget: <RM 200
Appreciate your recommendations.
*
If your ok with Tecware brand and wanna stay with MATX case, can go with their Neo M2. It will fit GPU up to 330mm long.

Do you have intake and exhaust fan in your casing? There is no point changing to another casing with similar performance. Increase your budget and you'll have more options.
*
OP GPU is 304mm long which just barely overlength to fit into that case (300mm).

Hi guys, going back to this topic... we agree to buy a new gaming pc for my son. Thanks for sharing Wuthering Wave game spec, but of course we are not buying a new pc just so he can play this game. Can I therefore get some suggestions for a decent gaming pc spec, that is currently in the mid range budget, say around RM3000-4000, that would be still usable 2-3 years down the road, and can play other first shooter games in 2025 or near future.

I ask because some say, for example, GPU that is RTX --30, or --50 is not worth buying. Must go for --70, --80, --90. I have no clue, that is why I am asking. Something like
4090 is better than
5030 (not worth although is 5000 series, but is the budget version)

Thank you all in advance.
*
I dunno how future proof your looking for coz it depends what kinda shooter games he plays. For that spec Tristan gives, upcoming COD BO7 would be around 100-150 FPS @1080P, which is barely ok for competitive shooters today. Future COD / BF games would drop that further down, so you may be looking to upgrade sooner than later.

If the intention is futureproofing for games, I reco get PS5 instead. It will guarantee satisfactory gameplay thru its lifecycle even when game visual gets better.

But if you do go with buying a PC, do get it now as in this weekend coz RAM pricing going up on daily and SSD are rebounding upwards ady. DDR4 RAM prices are getting insane levels for previous gen tech.
And dont let the shop talk into buying a single 32GB stick of RAM (or any size) you will want to have 2x matching pairs (16GB x2).

Thank you TristanX and Babylon. I wonder if this is a good opportunity to have him be patient. The last time ram and hdd prices went up really high that I can recall,  was many years ago. Also cause I have stopped buying pc for many years. But it eventually would come back down like 4-6 months later after production catches back up with demand.

Maybe the other thing to consider is using a Oculink, since he is using minisforum UM870. Minisforum have DEG1 docking station. So I need to buy only 2 things, avoiding hdd and ram :-
- PSU
- GPU

Am I right?
*
It wont come down so fast or easily nowadays, these makers have side agreements to maintain it when prices go high, GPU price have been on the high ever since Covid, SSD prices had been dropping until start this year has shot up and predict will go even higher. Even DDR5 prices have largely been stable all year and didnt drop much coz nobody was pushing out inventory that crashed prices like in the past. If you want some meaningful price drops it will likely be a year or 2 more.

RAM and SSD price hike. Gonna be tough.

Try

Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 1399
Thermalright Royal Pretor 130 - 192 (Shopee - Dotatech)
MSI B650M Gaming Plus Wifi - 699
G.Skill Trident Z5 32GB DDR5-6000 kit (double check the CAS latency or CL before you buy. It should be CL30 or lower)- 719
Gigabyte RTX 5070 Ti 16GB Windforce - 3599
WD SN850X 1TB - 439
FSP Vita GM 1000W - 599
Corsair 4000D Frame case - 399

RM8045 total (Viewnet prices unless stated)
*
Can reduce a bit by going with FSP Vita GM 850W @RM499.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F — RM599
Motherboard: GIGABYTE B850M FORCE WIFI 6E (mATX) — RM609
Graphics Card: COLORFUL RTX 5070 Ti 16GB ULTRA W OC — RM3699
Case: Corsair 4000D — RM399
Power Supply: FSP Vita 850W — RM609
RAM: G.Skill RIPJAW S5 DDR5-6000 — RM319
Storage:  LEXAR NM610 PRO 1TB - RM239

Total: RM6473 based on czone

Im thinking to buy all these on czone.
anything i can reduce? is cpu stock cooler sufficient?
use case: AI 24/7 non stop running
*
Stock cooler is sufficient for normal usage but for 24/7 use will need a tower cooler, at least SE214/224XT, Hyper212, Assassin Spirit 120.

That RAM @RM319 is it single stick? What size? Ideally you want 2x for dual channel

Also that SSD is pisspoor DRAMless. Go for WD SN850X 1TB - 439

I’m thinking of upgrading my boot drive SSD.
Currently using a Crucial P3 plus 1TB SSD.

I saw a Crucial T710 2TB with heatsink for sale for ~Rm800 (Amazon Black Friday sales).

Is it worth the upgrade ?
Will I notice the speed difference ?
Main use is solely gaming and I’m using a mobo with PCIE 4.0 nvme.

Current setup is.
ryzen 7800x3d
Asrock A620i lightning wifi
32GB klevv 6000mhz CL32
RTX5080 windforce OC SFF
Deepcool assassin 4s cpu cooler.
CH160 deepcool case
1TB NVME SSD + 2TB NVME SSD (both crucial p3+).
850W Thermal right gold TG850-W.
*
Copy pasta from Tristan
WD Black SN850X 1TB at RM439 from Viewnet.

Samsung 990 Pro 2TB for RM764 at Just IT on Shopee. Viewnet selling it at RM759.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_6j...feUULTGxIjPEFpo

If your mobo is Gen4 only your not gonna see much of any gains with Gen5 SSD. Whatmore buying from USA means no warranty.

Phison controller you run the risk of bricking the drive with a bad firmware update.

The link doesn’t seem to be working.
But yeah, my only concern is the warranty.

Any issues past the 30 days return window means I’ll need to ship the part back to crucial US. They’ll honor that, but I’ll likely need to pay for the shipment there. (Would be around Rm 150-200-ish I estimate).

I do intend to upgrade my mobo sometime soon as well.
That’s why the <rm50 difference to future proof it seems worthwhile.

Any chance the SN8100 , samsung 9100 pro or T710 be sold locally at under rm1k for 2TB?
*
Nope but just for gaming and normal usage your not gonna see much difference (if any) from a topline Gen4. Futureproofing is a valid reason as long as your happy with it

Hi Sifus,

Planning to get a new PC. Will use it for gaming, watch movies, but of coding.

So far I have these (price from czone):
Any bottlenecks here? Any parts I should swap out? Thanks!
*
I would replace mobo with MSI B650M/B850M Gaming PLUS Wifi (must have PLUS!) for the better VRMS and no potential backdoor bios. iirc its under RM 700.
Also replace that DRAMless SSD with WD SN850X 1TB - 439

Case is subjective coz bear in mind its all mesh so the side is not as visual as glass panel. But airflow is tops.

Thanks updated the list.
czone don't seem to have WD SN850X 1TB, so opted for SAMSUNG 990 PRO 1TB for 499. They also don't have B650 PLUS WIFI, only have the B850 one which is more expensive. Don't mind the visual of the casing much, more about the budget and performance.

Comparing czone prices with viewnet, some parts are not available so I've substituted them.

czone:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor - RM 599
Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 R SE - RM 79
Motherboard: MSI B850M GAMING PLUS WIFI - RM 849
RAM: Acer Predator Pallas II 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz - RM 729
SSD: Samsung 990 PRO 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe - RM 499
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB Shadow 2X OC - RM 1,999
PSU: Cooler Master MWE Gold V3 750W 80+ Gold - RM 289
Case: Tecware Fusion Air M2 Mesh - RM 135
Total Est: RM 5,178

viewnet:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor - RM 569
Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 R SE - RM 79
Motherboard: MSI B650M GAMING PLUS WIFI - RM 699
RAM: ADATA XPG Lancer Blade 32GB (2x16GB) 6400MHz - RM 549
SSD: WD Black SN850X 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe - RM 439
GPU: GALAX GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB 1-Click OC - RM 1,999
PSU: Deepcool PK750D 750W 80+ Bronze - RM 259
Case: Cooler Master TD300 Mesh - RM 199
Total Est: RM 4,792

Anything else you would change? Which one would you choose? Viewnet prices are more competitive.
*
Both equally as capable, so Viewnet the more value option but I would replace the C tier PK-D PSU with B Tier MWE V3 or similar quality (ie FSP Hydro PTM Pro, Vita GM)

yup now RAM and SSD so expensive, some part will add it on future
but the RAM they recommend seems old, cant easily find cheap (Crucial DDR5 5600mhz CL46 UDIMM)
if I want to add another 32GB in future, it is i need to find back the same brand, same CL, same speed?
or different brand with same CL, same speed?
*
Not old but its JEDEC spec valueRAM
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr5/ct16g56...ywPpXd_I7J-4jgf

These will be around for sometime as its basically office PC RAMs so dont worry. But having only 1 stick will hold it back a bit due to not dual channel.

Also for that mobo, most MATX boards comes at 2x NVME M2 slots so be mindful the last M2 slot occupied isnt stealing lanes from other functions (SATA, or the PCIE slot below, or USB4). As always, make sure to read the manual carefully.

Not only RAM and SSD. Motherboard prices these days are insane as well. RM1k+ for high end chipset (and still not high end board). I missed the days where you can get overclockable high end chipset at RM379. Hello? Asus P8Z77-M!
*
You forget inflation. Back then RM 379 can get you more things than today RM 379.

anybody can tell me why 5070 ti sff is so much cheaper than standard? i know coolers cost money, but were talking 700 myr difference here. is there some other catch?
*
Cooler is just cukup makan, no big OCing, meaning noise will be more apparent, no dual bios, no RGB (usually). These usually in 2 fan config, for 70/80 class cards I reco go with triple fan ones.

Price well below MSRP at the moment. 10% is nothing. And RAM doesn't affect only AMD. Let me remind you this is rig suggestion thread.
Those are not cheap. Seagate any Pro series.
*
MSRP should be comparable to 5070Ti, yet cheapest 9070xt is RM 3400 while cheapest 5070TI is under RM 3k. By right it should be 10% cheaper than that 5070Ti considering its inferior featuresets. Let me remind you rig suggestion also includes GPU 95% of the time when a reco is asked.
