Hard facepalm for RX6000 owners when their cards not even that old to start to be deprecated.
https://www.techpowerup.com/342449/no-more-...n-driver-branch https://www.techpowerup.com/342481/amd-clar...support-remains Particularly the 6700xt was a frequent reco here over RTX 8GB cards. Ironically now these Nvidia cards would still be playable into the future albeit less optimum but at least better than not being able to play if older Radeons dont get driver updates for latest games. |

QUOTE(TristanX @ Nov 4 2025, 01:44 AM) This is not unexpected. Just move on and see if they keep their word. I don't do "grey". I still stand by not recommending 8GB junk. I rather stand by what I reco, and that is not unusable ewaste 12GB cards just coz AMD is greedy now. Based on precedent, RTX 3000 8GB cards are only halfway thru their supported lifecycle while its contemporary RX6000 is being obsoleted. Like the other Steve said, I too would be hesitant to reco AMD cards in future. |

QUOTE(TristanX @ Nov 4 2025, 11:16 AM) LOL. I don't recommend new cards that stutters at 1080p for more than RM1k when maxed which can happen today. Good luck with 8GB garbage. Why would I lower the settings for a new card? Still way better than 5 years down the line. Between playing poorly and not being able to play at all, im sure mostly will chose the former. Good luck with a blank screen.AMD already said it will provide support. In black and white. |

QUOTE(TristanX @ Nov 4 2025, 01:59 PM) LOL. Clearly no clue on what will happen. So you like more slideshow in 5-10 years, some even crash? Yes, it can crash with not enough VRAM. Yeah sure. Slideshow still better than black screens. Whatever.Hardware unboxed also got confirmation from AMD it has game support for RDNA. Go cry somewhere else. AMD done this before. 1st Gen Ryzen mobos were removed from supporting newer AM4 CPUs until they walk back after much backlash but then not all older mobos had support. At this stage Im not confident AMD actually cares for their existing users but sure, continue your AMD fanboyism shill. Fanbois are all so gullible. After the massive backlash (again! harken back Ryzen 1st gen mobo support), AMD has Uturn on their lower prioritisation game support for RDNA1/2 (again! like Ryzen 1st gen mobos).
But how long will AMD commitment remain? Since the main issue is RDNA1/2 are still parked under Maintenance Mode status and not back to main driver prioritisation, so is AMD hoping the heat dies down in time and they can go back to release game drivers when they so chooses? Lets see then how AMD fanbois are coping this, maybe they should start making their own noises if they cant play the latest games due to late drivers coming instead of fawning over that brand (no their not your friend nor saviour to Nvidia evilness!). Meanwhile Intel is actually doing better at game ready ARC driver support than AMD. Go figure. At least they arent as broken as AMD nowadays ![]() 9060XT 16GB doing worse than 5060 8GB? LOL! Expect in general, hardware prices to go up as various IT products are tied to TSMC; AMD Ryzens & Intel CPU chiplets made by TSMC, many SSD controllers are also by TSMC ie Phison, Innogrit, SM, Maxio?, ARM Cortex SOC in phones & handhelds are fabricated near exclusively by TSMC. Even those few vertically integrated inhouse made (Samsung, Hynix) would also take opportunity to raise prices in keeping with the industry. Dont say I never warn people. Prices of RAM & SSD are shooting up and soon this after CPU prices will up as well. This post has been edited by babylon52281: Nov 6 2025, 10:11 AM |

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ Nov 9 2025, 08:31 AM) AMD pretty much confirmed that they will continue to offer day 1 game support for RX5000/6000 cards, is it really that hard to read for you? You only got half the story https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-confirms-rd...f-duty-included Heres a podcast telling the whole saga and how AMD did 180 degrees turn, and even then the main question of what RDNA2 being in Maintenance mode means in future when the noise has died down |

At least S70 Blade or T-FORCE G70 PRO both with DRAM cache That RAM CL timings isnt very good with newer kits at CL28-30 but looking at RAM prices its better than nothing That PSU is C tier and while I think its enough for the job, imho for 5070Ti class GPU I would go with Gold rated unit to better safeguard that expensive GPU Sorry to say it feels very unbalanced unless your making full use GPU for work or encoding. EDIT: Just saw your purpose is for mining. Is that reliant on CUDA? iirc Radeons are better at mining (RX580 was lejen), so you may want consider 9060XT/9070. QUOTE(Invulnerability @ Nov 9 2025, 08:52 PM) yes I'm ordering from idealtech, so far prebuilt one this is the cheapest i see and suitable for me. Can ask sifu Myway for his reco based on your use case, he could also tell your budget enough or not.RAM is damn so expensive now. I might upgrade in future and also add another GPU. So lets say if I want add another GPU, i should upgrade to 1300G right? purpose quite similar with mining EDIT: opps, looks like the board not supporting x2 GPU. Guess i just upgrade to ANTEC GSK750 GB / ANTEC GSK850 GB |

QUOTE(Invulnerability @ Nov 9 2025, 11:02 PM) main purpose doing some heavy parallel math on the GPU like 1+1, 2+2, 3+3 across all the cuda cores. so it is quite full use of gpu, very light use for processor, RAM, SSD. TBF that AYW mobo isnt any better than that MSI mobo, sorry to say, both having 6 VRMS on the Vcore. See if can up budget to MSI B860M Gaming Wifi.important is stable performance, enough power, no sudden shutdown, doesn't burn my parts. nice, looks like can upgrade to mobo asus B860m ayw at around rm160+, so probably will upgrade this mobo and the PSU. EDIT: hmm, let me check if I convert to use AMD, not too familiar with this. For PSU if you dont mind the oddity of its connectors, a better deal is Lianli Edge EG750 as its Gold rated and A Tier. Idealtech are throwing prices on these. |

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Nov 11 2025, 01:42 PM) Hi all, is my build optimum? i.e. any jarring bottlenecks? TBH your build is solid but overspecced for casual usage. For video editing I would reco go with Intel rig as video editing can make use of Intel Quicksync. AMD encoders are not there yet. Perhaps Ultra285 nonK + Z890 Tomahawk Wifi?I don't really game (may try gaming with this rig), mainly for casual use and the occasional video editing/LR Classic Add: Need recco for casing, no RGB, prefer easy to maintain (dust management) and good airflow As for nonRGB case, go with Corsair 4000D or else bigger is 5000D or else bigger is 7000D or else the biggest kahuna 9000 |

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Nov 11 2025, 11:33 PM) After being on Intel for many many decades, I have decided to try the red camp. I'm aware of the drawbacks, I figured that I might be able to live with it. Since your going to have RTX card its not too bad as you can also leverage on NVENC encoders for quick & dirty transcoding. However I find that its not very space compact unlike using CPU encoding. 9900X will work well with Handbrake & others that utilise multicores/threads. Going AMD is not too bad in that sense.Have already paid and bought via Shopee If your planning a build soon better dont wait, RAM, SSD, even HDD prices are rising fast, GPU prices likely will soon hike due to GDDR getting more expensive, AMD might follow Intel to raise CPU prices too. |
