you can use the voip that connect to your phone. to end user, it just like normal phone line. you can stretch it up to 5km if the VOIP convert the signal to standard 300-3000Hz.

The router is optical and it has tel 1 and tel 2 sockets.

phone and fax basically are the same thing. your phone convert electrical signal to voice, your fax convert it to bitmap.

your BTU by the way, convert light pulses to electrical signal.

SOLVED !!!! I have problem when using fax on unifi phone line. But now its solved when i adjust the speed setting on fax machine from medium to low.

Just for your info

High = 56k
Medium=28k
Low=14k

If you have problem sending fax at higher speeds, it is usually the fax machine on the other end cannot connect at faster speeds.

you missing the point. your machine and the other machine can't match the speed. and the speed has nothing to do with VOIP. it's your machine that are so old and outdated that it has speed setting while all current fax machine can auto negotiate during handshake to sync all their parameters.

Almost all fax machines including all in one can adjust baud rate transfer from 9600 up to 56K. Usually adjust the slowest can correct compatibility and communication problems.

You are right if the fax machine is too old, it may not be able to communicate. But usually newer ones can auto sense lower speeds and accept the fax signal. Only the newer 56K one has problem transmitting to lower speed ones. Well not really an issue not since TS already solved his problem.

just trying to point out the issue is speed, not type of physical connection because he seem like thinking the issue is related to type of physical connection.

it's important to understand, not just ignore when the problem is solved.
